입력 랜덤 변수(input random variable)의 통계 모델링은 기계시스템의 신뢰성 해석(reliability analysis), 신뢰성 기반 설계(reliability-based design optimization), 해석모델의 통계적 검정(validation) 및 보정(calibration)을 위해 반드시 필요하다. 대표적인 통계모델링 기법에는 Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), AIC correction (AICc), Bayesian Information Criterion, Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Bayesian 방법 등이 있다. 이러한 방법들은 기본적으로 주어진 데이터로부터 후보 모델의 우도함수값을 이용하여 후보 모델 중 가장 적합한 모델을 선택하는 방법이며, 방법에 따라 데이터 수 혹은 파라미터의 수를 고려하여 모델을 선정한다. 하지만 실제 현장에서 데이터의 통계모델링을 하는 엔지니어는 각 방법의 장단점에 대한 이해가 부족하여 어떤 방법이 정확한 방법인지 몰라 통계모델링 수행 시 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 통계모델링 방법들을 비교하고 각 방법의 장단점 분석을 통해 가장 적합한 모델링 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 각 방법의 검증을 위해 다양한 모분포를 가정하고 다양한 사이즈의 샘플을 임의로 생성하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 실제 공학 데이터를 사용하여 통계모델링 방법의 유효성을 검증하였다.

Objectives: The purpose of this article is not until to investigate the changes and types of statistical methods and to point out the statistical errors after analyzing the method of articles that improve the quality of the statistical analysis of papers published in the Journal of Oriental Obstetrics and Gynecology. Methods: Papers published in the Journal of Oriental Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2009 to 2011 were reviewed for methodological and statistical validity using a modified version of Ahn's checklist. A statistician reviewed individual papers and evaluated the list items in the checklist for each paper. To avoid the potential assessment error by the statistician who lacks expertise in the field of Oriental Obstetrics and Gynecology. Results: A total of 190 papers including 64 original articles, 40 reviews article, 58 case report and 28 brief communication were reviewed. Statistics methods used in 121 papers were composed of t-test(58.7%), ANOVA test(19.8%) and ${\chi}^2$- test (14.0%) et al. Whereas only 14.9% of papers were free of statistical errors, the number of omission errors was 58 and the number of commission errors was 149 each. Conclusions: A variety of statistical errors were encountered in papers published in the Journal of Oriental Obstetrics and Gynecology. Accordingly, researchers should be more careful when it comes to describing and applying statistical methods.

연구목적: 대한치과보철학회지에 사용된 통계적 방법의 통계적 오류현황을 파악하여 통계적 방법의 잘못된 활용으로 인한 치의학 연구논문에서의 문제를 검토하고, 또한 통계적 오류의 유형과 빈도를 파악하여 동일문제의 재발 방지 및 효율적 대처의 기회로 삼고자 함이다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 2000년부터 2006년까지의 대한치과보철학회지에 게재된 총 399편의 논문 중 통계적 방법이 사용된 292편의 논문을 조사했고, 이를 위해 1997년 국제의학학술지 편집위원회의 "생의학 학술지에 투고하는 원고의 통일양식의 통계학적 방법론에 관한 서술지침" 15개항을 기초로 하여 1) 통계 프로그램의 불명시, 2) 통계 방법의 부적절한 기술, 3) 통계용어의 오용 등으로 크게 3가지 범주로 구성된 점검표를 사용하여 통계적 방법의 종류 및 통계적 오류부분을 확인하고 이를 한글판과 영문판으로 비교해 보았다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 결과 및 결론: 1. 통계 프로그램 명시 오류는 한글판에선 54%가, 영문판에선 59%가 있었으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이진 않았다 (P = .66). 2. 통계 방법의 부적절한 기술에 관한 오류는 한글판에선 49%가, 영문판에선 33%가 있었으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이진 않았다 (P = .09). 3. 통계용어의 오용오류는 한글판에선 54%가, 영문판에선 24%가 있었으며 통계적으로도 유의한 차이가 있었다 (P = .01). 상기 결과로 볼 때 통계용어의 오용 오류 이외엔 통계적 유의성을 보이진 않아서 한글판과 영문판의 통계적 오류의 비율은 유사하게 나타난 걸로 추정되며, 전체적으로 대한치과보철학회지의 통계적 타당성은 다소 부족하게 나타났다. 따라서 향후 치의학 연구자는 통계적 방법을 기술하고 적용할 때 통계적 오류를 피하기 위해 주의를 기울여야 할 것이며, 아울러 치의학 논문에서의 통계학적 방법론에 대한 인식의 제고가 필요하다고 보인다.

이 연구는 통계적 문제해결 과정 중에 설문지 질문 생성 단계에서 나타나는 예비초등교사들의 통계적 추론을 조사하고 이것이 이후 단계들에서의 활동에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 24개 조의 교육대학교 2학년 학생들 80명이 통계적 문제해결 과정을 직접 실행하고 통계 보고서를 작성하였으며, 그 중 22개 조의 보고서를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 설문지 질문 생성 단계에서 예비교사들의 9가지 통계적 추론이 확인되었으며, 특히 그 중 질문 명확화 지향 추론과 변이 기반 추론은 기존 연구에서 보고되지 않았던 추론이었다. 또한, 설문지 질문 생성 단계에서의 통계적 추론이 이후 단계의 활동에 미친 영향을 알아보기 위해 자료 분석 및 결론 단계에서 예비교사들이 보고서에 기술하였던 어려움 및 이슈를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 예비교사들의 어려움이 설문지 질문 생성 과정에서의 모집단 관련 추론, 범주 수준 추론, 표준화 추론, 질문의 일관성 지향 추론, 질문 명확화 지향 추론과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그동안 선행연구에서 질문 생성하기 단계에 크게 주목하지 않았다는 점에 비추어보면, 본 연구 결과는 질문 생성 단계에서 나타나는 다양한 통계적 추론에 좀 더 주목할 필요가 있다는 점과 질문 생성 단계에서 적절한 통계적 추론이 이루어지도록 하기 위한 교수 방안들을 논의할 필요가 있다는 점을 시사한다.

This paper investigates the role of input frequency in the acquisition of verb argument structures based on distributional information of a corpus of utterances derived from the English CHILDES database (MacWhinney 1993). It has been widely accepted that children successfully learn verb argument structures by innate language mechanisms, such as linking rules which connect verb meanings and its syntactic structures. In contrast, an approach to language acquisition called “statistical language learning” has currently claimed that children could succeed in acquiring syntactic structures in the absence of innate language mechanisms, making use of distributional properties of the input. In this paper, I evaluate the feasibility of the statistical learning in acquiring verb argument structures, based on distributional information about locative verbs in parental input. The naturalistic data allow us to investigate to what extent the statistical learning approach can and cannot help children succeed in learning the syntax of locative verbs. Based on the results of English database analysis, I show that there is rich statistical information for learning the syntactic possibilities of locative verbs in parental input, despite some limitations in the statistical learning approach.

본 연구는 통계적 문제해결 과정의 관점에서, 우리나라 초등 수학교과서의 통계 영역 지도 방식을 분석하였다. 그 결과 통계적 문제 해결의 4단계 중에서 자료 분석단계에 대한 집중도가 심한 것으로 드러났고, 문제 설정과 자료 수집, 결과 해석단계의 비중이 매우 저조한 것으로 분석되었다. 이를 토대로 초등 수학교과서의 통계 영역 교과서 개발과 관련된 시사점을 논의하였다.

The use of statistical methods in the MIS research is increasing. However, there has been a meager attempt to critically evaluate the use statistical methods in MIS research papers. The review of 33G papers published in MIS Quarterly from Volume 1 to 14 resulted in three findings; (1) the portion of empirical research has been gradually increasing compared with non-empirical research, (2) univariate parametric statistical methods are most popular among MIS researchers, (3) researchers do not comply with the writing code of scientific research. This paper disscusses what errors MIS researchers might commit in using statistical research methods and how to prevent those errors in each of three stages of research, research design phase, statistical inference phase, and interpretation phase.

대학교 기초통계학 교육 시 우리는 통계패키지로서 R을 사용할 수 있다. R은 대화식 처리방식을 따르기 때문에 실행결과를 즉시 볼 수 있다. 또한 R에서의 그래픽스는 아주 강력하다. 그리고 가장 큰 장점은 R의 사용이 무료라는 것이다. 이러한 많은 장점을 갖고 있는 R을 대학교 기초통계교육 현장에서 사용하는 표준 통계패키지로서 고려할 필요가 있다 본 논문은 기초통계학 내용 중 추측통계 영역을 대상으로 R의 활용에 대하여 기술하고자 한다.

본 논문에서는 통계상담에 관련된 자료들을 정리해 보았다. 통계상담의 가장 중요한 3가지 역할은 교육적 기능, 서비스 기능, 연구 기능이며 효과적인 통계상담을 위해서는 상담에서의 통계적인 면과 더불어 비통계적인 면이 강조된다. 결과적으로 대학에서 통계상담실을 운영할 때에는 행정직, 개정적으로 독립되어 있으면서 통계학과에 속하는 통계상담실의 형채가 가장 바람직하다.

LS-SVM(least squares support vector machine) is a widely applicable and useful machine learning technique for classification and regression analysis. LS-SVM can be a good substitute for statistical method but computational difficulties are still remained to operate the inversion of matrix of huge data set. In modern information society, we can easily get huge data sets by on line or batch mode. For these kind of huge data sets, we suggest an on line pruning regression method by LS-SVM. With relatively small number of pruned support vectors, we can have almost same performance as regression with full data set.
