Characteristics of Sparkover Discharge in Flowing Air with Reynolds Number's Variable (Reynolds Number를 변수로한 유동공기의 방전특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper shows the characteristics of sparkover discharge in flowing air ranging from O(Reynolds number, Re to 10.52$\times$104(Re). Also, we investigated changes of dis-charge pattern for constant input power by adjustment of the Re. The important results obtained from this paper are as followers. The maxinum sparkover voltage of flowing air are about 6.3[kV] higher than those of static air. The discharge pattern can be controlled by adjustment of the Re.

  • An offset problem caused by the static parasitic capacitors is analyzed and then some techniques to reduce their effect on the capacitive position sensor are presented. Also new offset compensation technique is proposed that by adjusting the magnitudes of the modulating signals independently, the charge imbalance between electrodes caused by the parasitic capacitors is eliminated without sensor gain variation. Simulation results are given to validate the proposed compensation technique.

  • This study suggested antistatic material which can increase anti-static properties and mechanical strength by mixing polystyrene for conveying electronic stuffs with metal salt and ester compound as a anti-static agent. We studied about mechanical, thermal and electrical characteristics by changing the contents of MAH of poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride), compatibilizer. As the result of measuring residue space charge of the blends of HIPS(75)/TPU(25)/poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)(MAH weight ratio : 25, 32, 43.5 wt%), we could find small residue charge in the blend which MAH(25 wt%) was added and it showed the highest values in tensile strength. Additionally we found out the material to which compatibilizer was added kept better anti-static properties than one to which compatibilizer was not added. In the event we could confirm that the adding of PS-co-MAH enables two polymers were mixed well when HIPS/TPU was blended and anti-static agent made easier dissipative in the blend.

  • As London and post-Koyto protocols presumably affect emission of organic waste in Korea in 2012, appropriate treatment of organic waste becomes very important. Organic wastes are regarded as non-point pollutants. It has been criticized that direct emission charges on the emission of non-point pollutants are not effective due to the high uncertainty in the relationship between pollution sources and pollution levels. This study suggests indirect emission charges on production of livestocks or consumption on foods. Furthermore, it is assumed that revenue from the emission charges will be recycled to support biogas production. Biogas can be fueled to produce energy. In order to evaluate potential economic and environmental impacts of recycling the indirect emission charges on organic wastes, a static CGE model was developed. Simulation results of emission charges on the production of livestock show that livestock, agriculture, and food industry will confront relatively high burden while emission charges on consumption of food will affect more broadly and consumers will suffer more. Production charge on livestock sector will lead to higher reduction in GDP and total expenditure relative to the consumption charge. GHGs reduction effect was higher for the consumption charge relative to the production charge. Synthetically, consumption charge on food sector is more desirable as an alternative charge for the emission of organic wastes.

  • The static and dynamic behaviour of VGT and EGR systems has a significant impact on overall engine performance, fuel economy and exhaust emissions. This is because they define the state and composition of the air charge entering the engine. This work focused on the effect of the aperture ratio of VGT and EGR on the emission and flow characteristics under partial loads conditions. The investigation carried out using 2 liter PCCI 4 cylinder diesel engine with VGT and EGR. The result of this study shows that smoke increases with increasing EGR rate and NOx decreases with increasing EGR rate. It was also found that the residual gas contents greatly impact on soot emission under partial load condition. Finally, it can be concluded that VGT and EGR aperture ratio can greatly impact not only on soot and NOx but also air charging.

  • SiC power device possesses attractive features, such as high breakdown voltage, high-speed switching capability, and high temperature operation. In general, device design has a significant effect on the switching characteristics. In this work, we report the effect of the interface states ($Q_f$) on the transient characteristics of SiC DMOSFETs. The key design parameters for SiC DMOSFETs have been optimized by using a physics-based two-dimensional (2-D) mixed device and circuit simulator by Silvaco Inc. When the $SiO_2$/SiC interface charge decreases, power losses and switching time also decrease, primarily due to the lowered channel mobilities. High density interface states can result in increased carrier trapping, or more recombination centers or scattering sites. Therefore, the quality of $SiO_2$/SiC interfaces has a important effect on both the static and transient properties of SiC MOSFET devices.

  • In display such as LCD, LED, and AMOLED or semiconductor related industries are required to have static ionizer in order to produce reliable goods. The most general type of ionization is called, "corona discharge" that has a slight chances to generate unequal and unstable amount of each +/- ion to the target object. Then, the ionization performance will drastically decrease and end up with quality deterioration problem. continually "A study on the improvement of the performance of pulsed AC ion bar(1)", we have studied consecutive study to improve the current issue via appling "partition wall" at air nozzle surrounding. The results were that the charge decay time and the ion balance was maintained the satisfied range that was within 5 second and ${\pm}50$ V for a 180 days period of time. In additions, the contamination status on the electrode surface was investigated for a 180 days. The little particles was deposited on the electrode surface.

Low Power Detection Circuit for a Capacitive Fingerprint Sensor (용량성 지문센서를 위한 저전력 감지회로)

  • A modified capacitive detection circuit of charge sharing scheme is proposed, which reduces the static power dissipation and increases the voltage difference between a ridge and valley more than a conventional circuit. The detection circuit is designed and simulated in 3.3V, $0.35{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process, 40MHz condition. The result shows about 47% power dissipation reduction and 90% improvement of difference between a ridge and valley sensing voltage. The proposed circuit is layout without area increasing of a one pixel.

Performance Modeling of a Pyrotechnically Actuated Pin Puller

  • An analytical model was developed to understand the physics and predict the functional performance of a pin puller. The formulated model is based on one-dimensional gas dynamics for an ideal gas. Resistive forces against pin shaft movement were measured in quasi-static mechanical tests, the results of which were incorporated into the model. The expansion chamber pressure and the pin shaft displacement were measured from an actual firing test and compared to the model prediction. The gas generation rate was adjusted by a correction factor, and the heat transfer rate was obtained through parametric analysis. The validity of the model is assessed for additional firing tests with different amounts of pyrotechnic charge. This model can provide knowledge on how the pin puller functions, and on which design parameters contribute the most to the actuation of the pin puller. Using this model, we estimate the functional safety factor by comparing the energy generated by the pyrotechnic charge to the energy required to accomplish the function.

Development of Remote Monitoring System for Ionizer (제전기용 고성능 원격 감시 장치의 개발)

  • Ionizer is used in removal of static-electricity charge from several production processes such as flat panel display, organic EL, etc. In this paper, we introduce remote monitoring systems for ionizer which have been built to communicate with multiple ionizer and to control the power and ionizing state independently. Based on a series of tests, we verified the key functions of this controller such as unit connection, quantity of ion and electric charge, alarm, and successful communication between PC and controller. This system may be directly applicable to monitor systems for ionizer in the manufacturing processes of TFT-LCD, PDP, organic EL, and others.
