Background : Spatial analysis of EEG is a phenomenal assessment and not so informative for phase space and dynamic aspect of EEG data. In contrast, nonlinear EEG analysis attempts to characterize the dynamics of neural networks in the brain. We have analyzed the features of EEG nonlinearly in subjects with white matter change on brain MRI and compared the results with cognitive function in each. Methods : Digital EEG data were taken for 30 seconds in 9 subjects with white matter degeneration and in 5 healthy normal controls without white matter change on MRI. Then we analyzed them nonlinearly to calculate the correlation dimension(D2) using the MATLAB software. The cognitive function was assessed by 3MS(modified mini-mental state examination). The severity of white matter change was assessed by Scheltens scale. Results : The mean D2 value of normal control was greater than that of white matter degeneration group. The D2s of some channels were correlative with 3MS and degree of white matter degeneration significantly. Conclusions : nonlinear analysis of EEG can be used as one of adjuvant functional studies for prediction of cognitive impairment in subjects with white matter degeneration and subcortical white matter change can be influential on cognitive function and correlation dimension of EEG.
This study was to analyze science process skills related to 'state of matter' and 'state change of matter' in the kindergarten, elementary and middle school science textbooks. On the base of articulation, we analyzed science textbooks of the 5th kindergarten curriculum, the 6th elementary school science curriculum and the 6th middle school science curriculum. The findings indicated that the scientific inquiry abilities of predicting, classifying, hypothesizing and designing investigations are not enough in all grade science textbooks. Also, while young children have measuring ability theoretically, it was represented only in high grade textbooks. We concluded that these were inappropriate from the viewpoint of articulation which is related to scientific inquiry ability.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the examples represented in school science textbooks by the function types for students' scientific conceptions. According to the framework of analysis, we selected lacking examples in the textbooks, and developed a questionnaire for students. The questionnaire was applied to 157 third grade students to survey their conceptions related to matter states and change of states. The ratio of students' scientific conceptions related to solid the state was high because distinct examples were represented in the textbook. However, the ratios of students' scientific conceptions related to the liquid and gas states were low because there were no distinct examples in the science textbook. Contrast examples and expansive examples of liquid and gas such as fog and steam need to be represented in science textbooks in order to help students construct scientific conceptions of matter states and change of states.
The purpose of this study is to compare the elementary science curriculum and textbooks of Korea, the United States, Japan, and Singapore to know how the contents on particulate concept of matter is introduced and expressed. In Korea, particulate concept of matter was adopted as a term for 'molecules' in the 3rd through 6th curriculum, and the term for 'particles' was adopted in the 2009 revised curriculum. In the United States, NGSS adopted the term 'particle' in fifth grade. Japan presented the concept of 'particle' as a core concept of matter in the commentary, and the expressions 'particles' were being introduced in the textbooks. But it did not cover particulate nature of matter at the elementary school level in Singapore. An analysis of elementary textbooks in Korea, the United States and Japan except Singapore showed particulate expressions in 'dissolution', 'state change of water', 'gas pressure and volume', 'combustion and extinguishment' units. Korean textbook was only being introduced in 'dissolution' and 'gas pressure and volume', but in the textbooks of Japan and the United States, water was expressed as particles in 'state change of water' unit. Discussion and implication on the introduction of particulate concept to elementary science curriculum and textbooks were suggested based on the results.
The purpose of this study was to examine the 7th national science curriculum (chemistry domain) regarding the meanings of ‘mulgil' (Korean), the particulate nature of matter, and the state of matter. It was found that the term of ‘mulgil' was being used vaguely as representing material, matter, or substance without clear definition. This was problematic by reason that it could hinder students from having the concept of substance. Regarding the particulate nature of matter, molecule was introduced as a basic unit of matter at grade 7, prior to atom and ion, which were introduced at grade 9 and 10, respectively. It is necessary to reconsider the sequence of each particle concept to provide students with more consistent and comprehensive understanding of structure of matter. In the case of change of state, key concepts such as conservation of matter or reversibility were omitted in the curriculum document, and explanations based on various aspects of particles were somewhat insufficient. The concept of matter is fundamental to chemistry, and we must recognize it as a concept that needs to be taught clearly. Implications for curriculum revision were discussed.
A Contract of marine insurance is a contract whereby the insurer undertakes to indemnity the assurd, in manner and to the extent thereby agreed, against marine losses that is to say, the losses incident to marine adventure. But the matter is that whether the problem of increased risk in insurance law should be understood by matching to nay state under general principle of contract law and whether that we should give any effect is more proper to the original object of the system. For this, it is understood that it is a case to be applied a "clausula rebus sic stantibus" in general today, but it is regarded as the matter that whether "clausula rebus sic stantibs" is charging any position in change of risk and whether we should understood the concept of the risk on the substance of the risk. Accordingly the recognition for the problem like this, study should examine closely into whether any system for the effect of increase in change of risk is more proper and rational system provide the supplementing points through our principle of insurance law and the study by comparing method.by comparing method.
Biological treatment systems generally can be divided into two main classes of a suspended sludge process and attached one like a fluidized bed reactor. These process are considered to bring remarkable change in species composition of microorganisms, due to difference of a state of biofilm, a concentration and diffusion velocity of dissolved oxygen, a concentration and diffusion velocity of substance or poisonous matter. The change of species composition bring different treatment result for influence factors like F/M ratio, DO concentration, pH or poisonous matter. This study is to investigate the reaction characteristics of both microorganisms, namely, a suspended sludge and attached sludge, through the changes of pH, temperature and substance concentration.
In this study, we investigated the unsuitable cases for the hierarchy of the curriculum in science 'teaching-learning lesson plan' which is on the web site of the each city's support center for teaching and learning and Seoul Science Park with a purpose of giving helpful data for science teachers at lessons. The investigation is limited to 'Three states of matter' unit for the 7th grade and the content elements used at analysis was the "state changes of matter", "molecule" and "molecular model". The case found for unsuitable case for the hierarchy of the curriculum was phase equilibrium, ice crystal theory, peculiar property of water, classification of solid, thermal energy and physical change at the "state changes of matter". While the "molecular model" showed molecular motion and density. On the other hand, no case was found at "molecule".

Alpine glaciers harbor a large quantity of bio-labile dissolved organic matter (DOM), which plays a pivotal role in global carbon cycling as glacial-fed streams are headwaters of numerous large rivers. To understand the complexity, origin, and fate of DOM in glaciers and downstream-linked streams and lakes, we elucidated the molecular composition of DOM in two different Tibetan Plateau glaciers, eight glacial-fed streams and five lakes, using an ultrahigh-resolution 15 Tesla Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrometer. The compositional changes of the DOM samples revealed that glacier DOM mostly exhibited sulfur-containing organic compounds (CHOS species). We also found that aliphatic formulae contributed more than 50% of the total abundance of assigned molecules in glacier samples, and those compounds were significantly related to CHOS species. The CHO proportions of glacial-fed streams and lakes samples increased with increasing distance from glacial terminals. The relative contribution of terrestrial-derived organics (i.e., lignins and tannins) declined while microbial-originated organics (aliphatics) increased with increasing elevation. This suggested the gradual input of allochthonous materials from non-glacial environment and the degradation of microbe-derived compounds along lower elevations. Alpine glaciers are retreating as a result of climate change and they nourished numerous streams, rivers, and downstream-linked lakes. Therefore, the interpretations of the detailed molecular changes in glacier ice, glacial-fed streams, and alpine lakes on the Tibetan Plateau could provide broad insights for understanding the biogeochemical cycling of glacial DOM and assessing how the nature of DOM impacts fluvial ecosystems.

We have calculated the tunneling density of states (TDOS) of a metal/d-wave superconductor proximity junction, where the metal stands fur the normal metal, 5-wave superconductor, and d-wave superconductor. The tunneling direction is through the ab-plane of the d-wave superconductor. Because of the sign change in the order parameter experienced in the multiple Andreev reflection, there appears a finite TDOS at zero bias for duty geometry, which results in the anomalous zero bias conductance peak(ZBCP). For $d_{x2-y2}$ geometry, however, no TDOS peak appears at zero bias. We have calculated TDOS for various crystal orientation of HTSC and compared with the experimental conductance.
