CLEIDOCRANIAL DYSPLASIA : REPORT OF A CASE (쇄골두개 이형성증 환자에 관한 증례보고)

  • Cleidocranial Dysplasia(CCD) is a congenital disorder of skeletal and dental anomaly with an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. CCD Shows a generalized defect in intramembranous bones, such as the skull, clavicles, and endochondral bones, such as the long bones and the remainder of the skeleton. The specific clinical feature of CCD is an aplasia & hypoplasia of one or both clavicles, frontal & parietal bone bossing, incomplete fontanels and sutures closure of cranial bone. Generally, relative mandibular prognathism is seen, because maxillar is underdeveloped. Dental anomalies of CCD are prolonged primary teeth, delayed eruption of the permanent teeth and multiple supernumerary teeth. Almost patients of CCD can not recognize their dental abnormality until the permanent teeth eruption was begining. So it is difficult to decide the proper timing of the treatment of patients of CCD. Pedodontists should understand the development of the dentition in CCD patient and start the treatment of CCD patient in proper time.

MICROLEAKAGE IN RESIN COMPOSITE POLYMERIZED WITH VARIOUS LIGHT CURING UNITS (수종의 광중합기에 의한 복합레진 중합시 미세누출에 관한 연구)

  • This study was to evaluate the effects of several light curing units on the microleakage of composite resin restorations in primary teeth. The types of curing units were traditional low intensity halogen light(Optilux 360), plasma arc light(Filpo) low heat plasma arc light(Aurys) and high intensity LED(Freelight 2). After preparing cavities on sound primary teeth, cavities were filled with composite resin(Z100) using the same resin bond agent(Scotchbond Multi-Purpose) and were cured with each curing light system. After storing each specimen in sterile water for 24 hours, thermal circulation was done 1,000 times followed by pigmentation using 2% methylene blue solution. Each specimen was sliced and the degree of pigmentation was graded. When microleakage is graded, the average of Aurys was 0.95 which was the lowest and Freelight 2(1.05), Filpo(1.25), Optilux 360(1.30) followed. But values were not shown statistically significant difference (P>0.05). The results suggest that the newly developed curing units which has advantage in children by decreasing discomfort and procedure time can increase the microleakage of the composite resin.

Study on the Quality Characteristics of Sulgitteok Made with Various Amount of 'Goami 2' and Rice Powder (고아미 2호와 쌀가루 배합 비율을 달리한 설기떡의 품질 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the possibility of making functional sulgitteok with Goami 2 rice, which is a rich that is high in dietary fiber. Sulgitteok was made by adding various amounts of Goami powder(25, 50, 75, and 100 %) to rice powder. Then, the sensory tests and other tests to measure color, texture and hardness were examined as a function of time and the moisture content in sulgitteok was measured to determine the quality and characteristics of different types of sulgitteok. The conclusions of these tests were as follows : In the sensory evaluation preference test of sulgitteok made with various amounts of Goami powder, the overall preference was the highest in sulgitteok made with 50% Goami powder (S2). In the difference test, the higher the amount of added Goami powder, the lower the grades were. The S4 group, which was made with Gomai powder, had a strongly unique odor compared with those made with rice powder, which smelled weaker. In terms of the color values of Gomai added sulgitteok, the higher the amount of added Gomai powder, the lower the lightness value of sulgitteok, where group S4 had the lowest value. In addition, the S4 group, which was made with Goami powder, had the hightest red and yellow color. The texture test indicated that sulgitteok containing a large amount of Goami powder were considerably harder compared with the control group. While every group containing Goami powder (S1, S2, S3 and S4) became harder during the first to the third day of the test, their hardness tended to drop after longer storage times. In the control group, the hardness continued to grow from the start up to the fifth day. After five days' there was a noticeable change in the moisture content in the different types of sulgitteok, with more water evaporating in the S3, S2, and S1 groups than in the S4 groups, which contained the highest amount of Goami powder. Group C, which contained no Goami powder, had the largest water evaporation. Sulgitteok that contained more Goami powder turned out to be more savory than baekseolgi made solely of rice powder. However, they were less preferable overall, since they were rated lower in terms of color, texture and other characteristics. Therefore, utilize Goami tteok as a functional ingredient in food for people with diabetes or obesity, further studies on additives that can provide a sticky texture and favorable color should be conducted. In addition, different types of ttoek such as pounded or boiled ones may be preferable to sulgitteok.

  • We are at the onset of a major revolution in education, a revolution unparalleled since the invention of the printing press. The computer will be the instrument of this revolution. Computers and computer application are everywhere these days. Everyone can't avoid the influence of the computer in today's world. The computer is no longer a magical, unfamiliar tool that is used only by researchers or scholars or scientists. The computer helps us do our jobs and even routine tasks more effectively and efficiently. More importantly, it gives us power never before available to solve complex problems. Mathematics instruction in secondary schools is frequently perceived to be more a amendable to the use of computers than are other areas of the school curriculum. This is based on the perception of mathematics as a subject with clearly defined objectives and outcomes that can be reliably measured by devices readily at hand or easily constructed by teachers or researchers. Because of this reason, the first large-scale computerized curriculum projects were in mathematics, and the first educational computer games were mathematics games. And now, the entire mathematics curriculum appears to be the first of the traditional school curriculum areas to be undergoing substantial trasformation because of computers. Recently, many research-Institutes of our country are going to study on computers in orders to use it in mathematics education, but the study is still start ing-step. In order to keep abreast of this trend necessity, and to enhance mathematics teaching/learning which is instructed lecture-based teaching/learning at the present time, this study aims to develop/present practical method of computer-using. This is devided into three methods. 1. Programming teaching/learning method This part is presented the following five types which can teach/learn the mathematical concepts and principle through concise program. (Type 1) Complete a program. (Type 2) Know the given program's content and predict the output. (Type 3) Write a program of the given flow-chart and solve the problem. (Type 4) Make an inference from an error message, find errors and correct them. (Type 5) Investigate complex mathematical fact through program and annotate a program. 2. Problem-solving teaching/learning method solving This part is illustrated how a computer can be used as a tool to help students solve realistic mathematical problems while simultaneously reinforcing their understanding of problem-solving processes. Here, four different problems are presented. For each problem, a four-stage problem-solving model of polya is given: Problem statement, Problem analysis, Computer program, and Looking back/Looking ahead. 3. CAI program teaching/learning method This part is developed/presented courseware of sine theorem section (Mathematics I for high school) in order to avail individualized learning or interactive learning with teacher. Development Education Implicit in Geography Curriculum in Japan (일본 지리교육과정을 통해 본 개발교육의 도입과 전개)

  • Development education started in some of developed countries of Europe since 1960s. Japan was interested in the development education with realizing the impotance of quality of life in the late of 1970s after high economical growth in 1960s. Just like Eroupe, development education in Japan was done to citizen by development NGOs. But under close cooperation with JICA and MOE, development education was gradually absorbed in formal education. Development education in Japan is done through interdisciplinary studies and the subjects. Geography national curriculum and textbooks in Japan show that the subject aimed to nurture Japanese in the world in the period from the late of 1960s to the late of 1970s. Thus the period can be named the sprouting time of education of development. But with entering the late of 1980s, geography national curriculum started to focus on fostering global citizenship to students. The turn in the educational aims can be counted as practical start of education of development. And education of development through geography was extended the most in the late of 1990s. But in the recent revised geography national curriculum, emphasis on education of development is reduced a little. It can be told that education of development in Japan arrives at the level of the full growth.

Maturity and Spawning of Korean Mandarin Fish, Siniperca scherzeri in Soyangho Lake (소양호에 서식하는 쏘가리 Siniperca scherzeri의 성숙과 산란 특성)

  • The study about maturity and spawning of Korean Mandarin fish, Siniperca scherzeri collected using the set net and gill net in Soyangho Lake from April to November 2014 was conducted. The number of individuals was 401 (female: 204, male: 197). The total length of females ranged from 113 mm to 365 mm and that of males was from 140 mm to 342 mm. The water temperature in May which is the start of spawning season indicated about $15^{\circ}C$ and gradually increased to July ($26^{\circ}C$). Gonadosomatic index (GSI) of females indicated 2.3%, 4.6% and 3.1%, respectively, in May to July. Males' value showed the similar pattern recording 8.0%, 6.6% and 4.5% in the same time. According to histological observations of gonadal tissue, the most of female in May had the gonadal tissue of maturing and mature stage. And the ovary of June was mostly in the stage of ripe and spawning and a number of individuals in July was recovery stage. In the case of male, a number of males in May showed in the stage of mature. The testis of June showed that mature sperm was releasing. And the testis of July was mostly in recovery stage. The total length at 50% group maturity was estimated 245.16 mm. As shown in the above, the main spawning period of S. scherzeri was May to June.

Use of Smart Devices of Infants and Preschool-children and Their Mothers' Perceptions (영유아의 스마트기기 사용 실태 및 어머니의 인식)

  • This study aims to research the use of smart devices of infants and preschool children, and their mothers' perception about it. Moreover, the goal of this study is to collect preliminary data about problems from the use of smart devices, and to prevent the problems. Therefore, the questions of inquiry for this study are: 1. How do infants and preschool children use smart devices? 2. How do mothers perceive their children using smart devices? Four hundred and forty mothers, who send their child to a day-care center or kindergarten in Busan, participated in this research and data among 397 of them were analyzed using PASW 18.0 program. The answers to a multiple-choice question were converted into a frequency and percentage. To verify the difference of factors, Chi-squared Test and One-way Analysis of Variance methods were used. The following are findings of this study: 1. Most of the families owning smart devices allow their children to use a smart device when children want it, and children use it for entertainment purpose before their bedtime. Children start to use a smart device mostly around the age of 4. Compared to girls, boys spend a longer time on smart devices playing mobile game. In addition, the research indicated that the children of younger mothers tend to use smart devices in earlier ages than the children of elder mothers. 2. Mothers of preschool children have higher perception about the availability of their child using smart devices compare to the mothers of day-care center. However, the research showed that elder mothers have more positive perceptions about all the other five lower factors, (e.g. educational characteristic, entertainment characteristic, design, safety, and smart recognition).

Characteristics of Marriage Immigrants' Acculturation Stage and the Source of Support: With an Emphasis on Filipino Marriage Immigrants' Family Life Culture in Korea (결혼이주여성의 한국가정생활 문화적응 단계별 특성 -필리핀 결혼이주여성을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of Filipino marriage immigrants' acculturation stages in regards to their Korean family life culture and to identify the source of the support for each stage, hence to provide information for educational programs that would promote successful acculturation for each stage. The following findings have been obtained through in-depth interviews with 18 female Filipino immigrants to Korea. In a range of obstacles from the Honeymoon Stage to the Confusion stage, the first are the language and the aspects of the food/cooking/ingredients/diet that are different from their own culture. Especially, pregnancy/childbirth is a major change in one's life and the biggest challenge in the acculturation process. As food and cooking are the first change that the immigrants have to face and get accustomed to in the early stage of their Korean life, the food culture is rather easier for the immigrants to get accustomed to than other parts of Korean life. From the Honeymoon Stage to the Harmony Stage, the immigrants make efforts to help their family in the home, while they look to their future in their children during the Autonomy Stage. Regardless of how long they have been in Korea, from the Honeymoon Stage to the Autonomy Stage, the immigrants have a hard time with the patriarchal environment in Korea due to the bilateral nature of kinship in the Philippines. Secondly, the immigrants receive the most support from their husband, family, and the tutors in Korean culture, while their mothers-in-law are the main source of the support for the Korean diet. At the Confusion Stage, the immigrants start visiting the regional multicultural family support centers and get help from the friends they meet there while depending on the TV for cooking tips. From the Harmony Stage, they may seek a job through the community network with their own effort and their children's help. In the Autonomy Stage, they are concerned about their children rather than their own parents, and they find their own identity as a Korean and realize that their effort is important.

A Proposal of Flow Limit for Soils at Zero Undrained Shear Strength (흙의 비배수전단강도가 0이 되는 함수비인 흐름한계의 제안)

  • When a slope failure or a debris flow occurs, a shear strength on failure plane becomes nearly zero and soil begins to flow like a non-cohesive liquid. A consistency of cohesive soils changes as a water content increases. Even a cohesive soil existing at liquid limit state has a small amount of shear strength. In this study, a water content, at which a shear strength of cohesive soils is zero and then cohesive soils will start to flow, was proposed. Three types of clays (kaolinite, bentonite and kaolinite (50%)+bentonite (50%)) were mixed with three different solutions (distilled water, sea water and microbial solution) at liquid limit state and then their water contents were increased step by step. Then, their undrained shear strength was measured using a portable vane shear device called Torvane. The ranges of undrained shear strength at liquid and plastic limits are 3.6-9.2 kPa and 24-45 kPa, respectively. On the other hand, the water content that corresponds to the value of the undrained shear strength changing most rapidly is called flow water content. The flow limit refers to the water content when undrained shear strength of cohesive soils is zero. In order to investigate the relationship between liquid limit and flow limit, the cohesive index was defined as a value of the difference between flow limit and liquid limit. The new plasticity index was defined as the value of difference between flow limit and plastic limit. The new liquidity index was also defined using flow limit. The values of flow limit are 1.5-2 times higher than those of liquid limit. At the same time, the values of new plasticity index are 2-5.5 times higher than those of original plasticity index.

Cell Cycle Arrest Effects by Artemisia annua Linné in Hep3B Liver Cancer Cell (Hep3B 간암세포에서 개똥쑥 추출물에 의한 Cell Cycle Arrest 효과)

  • Cells proliferate via repeating process that growth and division. This process is G1, S, G2 and M four phases consists. Monitoring the progression of the cell cycle is a specific step that to be a continuous process is repeated to adjust the start of the next step. At this time, this process is called a Checkpoint. Currently, there are three known checkpoints that G1-S phase, G2-M phase, and the M phase. In this study, we confirmed that cell cycle arrest effects by ethanol extracts of Artemisia annua Linne (AAE) in Hep3B liver cancer cells. AAE was regulated proteins which involved in cell cycle such as pAkt, pMDM2, p53, p21, pCDK2 (T14/Y15). AAE induced cell cycle arrest in G1 checkpoint through phosphorylation of CDK2. Akt and p53 upstream is inhibited by AAE and p53 activated by non-activated pMDM2, p53 inhibitor. Thereby, activated p53 is transcript to p21 and activated p21 protein is combined with Cyclin E-pCDK2 complex. Therefore, we confirmed that AAE-induced cell cycle arrest was occurred by p21-Cyclin E-pCDK2 complex by inhibition of pAkt signal. Because of this cell cycle can't pass to S phase from G1 phase.
