A test stand was developed to measure static performance of a reciprocating engine on the ground, related to the small aircraft being developed by KARI. The test stand consists of an apparatus to install and operate a pusher-type propulsion system and a data acquisition system to process many performance parameters including engine torque and propeller thrust as well as monitoring of the engine operations. First, the performance data from the basic operation tests were compared with the original engine data so the capacity of the test stand was verified. Engine performance tests were carried out with various test conditions through three stages, and it was measured and analyzed that the manifold pressure, the torque, and the back pressure of the engine, and the static thrust of the propeller.

This paper proposes a control method under stand-alone operating mode for distributed-module type photovoltaic power conditioners. In conventional schemes, there are some problems of a controller saturation in the DC-link (or load) voltage controller when overly-heavy load, light load, and the generated PV power reduction occurs, as well as when a transition occurs from an overly-loaded to normal conditions. To overcome these problems, the proposed controller method switches the main control target from DC-link voltage to the maximum power point, which is closer to the stable operating point when it returns to normal operating conditions. For the analysis, a state-plane trajectory was given and the circuit analysis by PSIM simulation was done. For the verification, a prototype hardware with 110[W] and 50[W] dual photovoltaic modules has been implemented. From the results, it can be seen that PV power tracking is successfully done with the proposed method even under a stand-alone operation mode.
A study was conducted to develop user-centered kitchen furniture and workspace to reduce fatigue and to prevent housewives's disorders such as low back pain and musculoskeletal disorders from housekeeping activities. A questionnaire survey and interview were performed on 150 households those live in 32Pyung-type($105m^2$) apartment in Seoul vicinity. Also actual housekeeping activities for 24 hours were video-taped for further motion analysis. Results of the study revealed that housewives complained the inconvenience and small size of storage space, and worksurface height as the most important problems to be considered for redesign. And they responded, if feasible, sitting is preferred over standing while they are working. After adapting a sit/stand chair in the kitchen, a physiological experiment measuring heart rate(HR) and oxygen consumption($VO_2$) as response variables was conducted to examine the effects of sit/stand chair in reducing physiological demand during housekeeping activities. The results showed that working on sit/stand chair reduced energy expenditures by maximum of 30% and 31.0% in terms of HR and $VO_2$, respectively. Also rearrangement of kitchen structure based on motion analysis showed that walking distance during daily housekeeping activities can be reduced by 5.5% on the average. Hence, it is concluded that adapting a sit/stand chair in the kitchen could reduce fatigue and occupational disorders of housewives from extended housekeeping activities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of 'knowledge of result' and 'knowledge of performance', two types of extrinsic feedbacks, during the sit-to-stand movement in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Methods: A total of ten children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy (ages 8 to 12 years) were recruited for the study. Subjects with hemiplegic cerebral palsy performed sit-to-stand movement in front of a mirror. Their performance was supervised and revised for normal movement by a pediatric physiotherapist. In the knowledge of the result, subjects performed sit-to-stand using a chair with an armrest in their mind with normal movement. In the knowledge of performance, subjects performed sit-to-stand under verbal instructions. Randomized cross over trials were used in this study. Main outcome measurements were as follows: mediolateral speed, anteroposterior speed, velocity moment, extent in mediolateral direction, extent in anteroposterior direction, and vertical distance of the center of pressure. Results: The mediolateral speed and extent of center of pressure was higher for 'knowledge of performance' in comparison with the other type of extrinsic feedbacks (p<0.05). The other parameters, including anteroposterior speed and extent, and vertical speed of the center of pressure, did not differ between the two types of extrinsic feedbacks (p>0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggested that training in sit-to-stand movement with 'knowledge of result' may result in better use of extrinsic feedback.

In order to evaluate the thrust of a propulsion system, generally the captive thrust stand is used Based on the applied propulsion system, the various captive ways between thrust stand and the propulsion system are considered. In this paper, the effect of motor deformation generated during firing in horizontal thrust stand on the measured thrust is theoretically derived from classical beam theory. New flexure performance index is defined and estimated on the basis of the thrust measurement error. Its result is good agreement with numerical result of ABAQUS. This study showed that measurement reliability and safety of test can be highly upgraded, in case of two flexure-type captive thrust stand.

The flight control law designed for prototype aircraft often leads to degraded stability and performance, although developed control law verify by non-real time simulation and pilot based evaluations. Therefore, the proper evaluation methods should be applied such that flight control law designed can be verified in real flight environment. The one proposed in this paper is IFS (In-Flight Simulator). Currently, this system has been implemented into the F-18 HARV (High Angle of Attack Research Vehicle), SU-27 and F-16 VISTA (Variable stability In flight Simulation Test Aircraft) programs. The IFS necessary switching control law such as fader logic and integrator stand-by mode to reduce abrupt transient and minimize the integrator effect for each flight control laws switching. This paper addresses the concept of switching mechanism with fader logic of "TFS (Transient Free Switch)" and stand-by mode of "feedback type" based on SSWM (Software Switching Mechanism). And the result of real-time pilot evaluation reveals that the aircraft is stable for inter-conversion of flight control laws and transient response is minimized.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare by finite element analysis the biomechanical performance, in terms of cervical stand-alone cage screw insert angle (Type 3 - 5: 2 Screws) and screw arrangement (Type 6 and 7: 3 Screws / Type 8 and 9: 4 Screws), and the range of motion (ROM) of traditional anterior cervical discectomy of a fusion device (Type 1: Cage / Type 2: Cage + ACP). Our study suggests that the biomechanical behavior of a postoperative cervical spine could indeed be influenced by design features, such as screw angle and number of screws. In particular, ROM and the risk of subsidence were more sensitive during extension about type 5 (Insert Angle $20^{\circ}$). Our study also suggested that the number of screw asymmetries between up and down for type 6 and 7 could result in differences in the risk of screw fracture manifesting in different clinical aspects.
The objective of this study was to develop a management strategy for the recovery of carbon storage capacity of abandoned coal mine forest rehabilitation area. For the purpose, the biomass and stand carbon storage over time after the forest rehabilitation by tree type for Betula platyphylla, Pinus densiflora, and Alnus hirsuta trees which are major tree species widely planted for the forest rehabilitation in the abandoned coal mine were calculated, and compared them with general forest. The carbon storage in abandoned coal mine forest rehabilitation areas was lower than that in general forests, and based on tree species, Pinus densiflora stored 48.9%, Alnus hirsuta 41.1%, and Betula platyphylla 27.0%. This low carbon storage is thought to be caused by poor growth because soil chemical properties, such as low TOC and total nitrogen content, in the soil of abandoned coal mine forest rehabilitation areas, were adverse to vegetation growth compared to those in general forests. DBH, stand biomass, and stand carbon storage tended to increase after forest rehabilitation over time, whereas stand density decreased. Stand' biomass and carbon storage increased as DBH and stand density increased, but there was a negative correlation between stand density and DBH. Therefore, after forest rehabilitation, growth status should be monitored, an appropriate growth space for trees should be maintained by thinning and pruning, and the soil chemical properties such as fertilization must be managed. It is expected that the carbon storage capacity the forest rehabilitation area could be restored to a level similar to that of general forests.

This study was carried out to review the pattern of forest stand development for six Gangwondo Baekdudaegan Mountains which experienced different type and duration of intensive legal protection. Vegetation data from point sampling method were employed to classify community types by cluster analysis on the basis of the importance values of canopy tree species for the study areas. The names of classified communities were given by the composition of dominant tree species. The communities were also compared one another in terms of stand structure by species diversity index. The results indicated that National Parks (Seoraksan and Odaesan) had greater proportion of mixed mesophytic forest type which was supposed to progress further forest succession process so as to have more complex and diversified stand structure. On the other hand, ordinary forest areas (Seokbyeongsan and Deokhangsan) had greater proportion of the forest types which was dominatively composed of Quercus mongolica and Pinus densiflora. The forest types with large amount of these two species would tend to develop for relatively short period of time of 40-50 years after artificial disturbances. Hyangnobong of Natural Protection Area and Hambaeksan of Natural Ecosystem Conservation Area showed intermediate stand development pattern in between National Parks and ordinary forest areas. The period of intensive legal protection of the forest area was positively correlated with species diversity index (R=0.736), and noted that the forest which received intensive protection regulation for longer period tended to show more complex and diversified stand structure.
This study is described for development of the stand-alone smoke and heat detector (SASHD) according to the revised in 2011 type approval and performance inspection code for detector. The main improvement of the revised regulation is source. CMOS microcontroller with nano watt technology is use for development of the workable SASHD over 10 years. The low-power SASHD is developed by using the power-saving sleep mode of microcontroller, by making the low-power source voltage checker, heat detector and smoke detector. The stand-alone detector is developed by smoke and heat detector type for reduce false fire alarm. User can choose type of work between the heat detection mode and smoke & heat detection mode. The SASHD can communicate with each them using RS-485 communication supported from microcontroller. So, this study can develop the SASHD that is able to alarm more wide area when fire occurs and reduce a flash fire alarm.
