We investigated an irrational constant e and compared its computational methods using spreadsheet. Such methods are based on classical definition, infinite series, continued fraction, infinite product exponential function and accelerated classical method. This kind of work is focused on experimental mathematics using computers in math class. This approach will be helpful for mathematics teachers to teach constant e in their classroom.

태양열이용 LiBr-water 흡수식 냉난방시스템의 시간단위의 simulation model을 SuperCalc spreadsheet를 사용해서 제시하였고 전체시스템의 열성능을 분석함으로써 spreadsheet simulation 방식의 가치를 입증하였다. Arizona, Tucson에 위치한 사무실형 건물의 시간단위의 냉난방 부하를 ASHRAE 방식에 의하여 계산하였으며 전체 시스템의 구성요소 및 제어 방식에 대한 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 두 종류의 흡수식 시스템의 열성능을 시스템 매개변수를 이용해서 비교하였다.

이 논문은 스프레드시트를 활용한 수학적 모델링에서 스프레드시트 환경이 수학적 모델의 정교화과정에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 고찰한 것이다. 좀 더 자세히 살피면 수학적 모델링에서 스프레드시트 모델의 활용은 학생이 분석 불가능한 수학적모델도 분석할 수 있도록 해줌으로써 모델을 단순화하지 않고, 대신 모델을 정교화 할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 수학적 개념을 확장해 나갈 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 수학적 모델을 스프레드시트 모델로 변환하여, 수학적 모델로부터 수학적 결론을 얻는 단계를 거치지 않고도 실세계 상황을 해석하고 설명할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있음을 보였다.

The use of spreadsheet packages for solving noise control problems has been cited by several authors, eg Saha[1] and Thornton[2]. The effectiveness of using spreadsheet packages compared with the traditional computer programs written in high level languages was demonstrated when applied to relatively simple problems, such as the selection of hearing protectors or the prediction of noise equation which includes logarithmic additions at most represents the physics of the problem. The simplicity of the governing equation together with the requirement to handle a vast amount of data are considered to be the major reasons for noise control engineers to use spreadsheet packages. Although shipboard noise prediction seems to be very complicated, the calculation procedure itself is, in essence, identical especially true for prediction methods based on empirical formulae[3,4], ie the procedure that consists of the three basic elements, ie source, path and receiver. This paper discusses the application of spreadsheet package LOTUS 1-2-3 to shipboard noise prediction problems. A utility program of the package is written using macro functions and is shown to be especially useful for noise control engineers who are unfamiliar with spreadsheet packages. In addition, a new type of empirical formula, to estimate structureborne noise transmission loss, is proposed.

Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) 제작에서 최종 데이터 입력 수단으로 쓰이는 스프레드시트 기반 개발 환경은 대용량의 데이터의 수식 처리, 분석에 있어 장점이 있으나 데이터 삽입 삭제, 검색, 연계성 관리에 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서 대용량 데이터 관리를 위한 스프레드시트 환경 기반 툴 모델을 제안함으로써 실무에서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 데이터 관리 문제들을 입력 단계에서 해결하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 툴 모델은 MMORPG 데이터 입력을 위해 다수의 데이터 입력자들이 있는 환경에서 데이터 관리 위험을 최소화시키며 동시에 데이터 입력과 관리 작업 효율을 높이는데 효용성을 가지고 있다.

For information processing tasks, it is an important cognitive skill to manipulate and store information, which is known as information intake. One of the tasks which greatly involve this skill would be a spreadsheet calculation task. In this study, a spreadsheet calculation task is analyzed by the cognitive task analysis based on the cognitive factors having been usef for a model of human information processing. By the results of the cognitive task analysis, the spreadsheet calculation tasks to be used in the experiments are designed and the testbattery of cognitive abilities assessment (CCAB ; complex cognitive asssessment battery) are selected. Then, the features of cognitive demands and a human performance model of the spreadsheet calculation task are suggested by means of correlation analysis, principal component factor analysis, and regression analysis of the results of the experiments on task performances and the assessment of cognitive abilities. Also, the application of the results of the study to job placement and further research issues are described.

The spreadsheet Microsoft Excel is the most widely used mathematical tool in today's workplace. Moreover, it is also an outstanding means for developing a surprisingly wide range of creative and innovative educational uses within such areas as mathematical modeling, visualization, and instruction. The spreadsheet's format provides us with a tool that closely parallels the way in which we naturally carry out problem solving, while the spreadsheet creation process itself illuminates the underlying mathematical concepts. In addition, the spreadsheet's visual layout allows us to introduce a broad variety of challenging and interesting topics, and to design creative demonstrations through eye-catching animated graphics. The material presented comes from actual classroom mathematics teaching experience in both industrially advanced and developing nations. A series of highly visual interactive illustrations from mathematics, the natural and social sciences, computing, engineering, and the arts provide a number of usable examples. The material discussed is applicable at diverse levels, ranging from schools and universities through adult education and in-service teacher development programs.

이 글은 함수의 지도와 수학적 모델링 활동에서 스프레드시트가 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지에 대하여 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 2절에서는 스프레드시트가 함수 그래프의 개형을 파악하거나 계수 변화가 함수의 그래프에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데 도움을 주고 새로운 수학적 사실을 발견할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있음을 보인다. 3절에서는 학생이 수행한 모델링 활동을 통하여 스프레드시트의 기능이 수학적 모델링 활동에서의 다양한 상황을 해석하고 예측하는데 유용함을 보이고 새로운 사실의 발견과 이의 수학적 정당화 가능성의 기회를 제공할 수 있음을 보인다.

The conventional factor of safety as used in geotechnical engineering does not reflect the degree of uncertainty of the relevant parameters. Then in the geotechnical engineering, there have been efforts to reflect the uncertainties of the geotechnical properties through probabilistic analysis. In this study, a practical method for calculation the second moment reliability index using the optimization tool of a spreadsheet software is introduced. And this methodology was proposed by Low, B. K.(1996). The method is based on the perspective of an ellipsoid that just touches the failure surface in the original space of the variables. The method is applied to vertical drains(PVD) and compared with th result of Monte Carlo Simulation method.

Despite many numbers of studies in Technology Acceptance Model(TAM), the social influence construct has not been recognized, nor handled clearly. This study includes the social influence construct in TAM and tests the robustness of the model for different information systems contexts: office automation(spreadsheet) and Internet(WWW) usage. Study findings include that 1) social influence has a direct impact on the usage of spreadsheet, but not on Internet(WWW) usage, and 2) social influence has a stronger indirect impact on IS use through perceived ease of use than through perceived usefulness(for both Internet and spreadsheet).
