  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the trunk rotation type by wheel and axle. In order to analysis, 3D-motion analysis and electromyography were conducted on kinematic variables, impulse, average-EMG and integrated-EMG. Twelve healthy (age: $21.8{\pm}2.2$ yrs, height: $175.4{\pm}5.0cm$, weight: $66.7{\pm}6.4kg$) participated in the experiment. The results were as follows; in hand's velocity and acceleration, wheel and axial rotating movement using kinematic chain(type 3) were much faster. In impulse, type 3 was much stronger. In average-EMG, right and left, latissimus dorsi muscles was much stronger. In integrated-EMG, left erector spinae, right/left latissimus dorsi, and left external oblique muscles was much stronger. These results considered that, in the trunk rotation utilizing the kinematic chains action, latissimus dorsi muscles highly contribute to the muscle utilization that makes the rotating movement maximally effective.

  • Objective: The purpose of this research was to establish the differences of ground reaction force variables and sensations according to the foot types and the structures of the inner arch support band during $2^{nd}$ vertical ballet jump. Method: 12 Female ballet majors in their twenties who have danced for more than 10 years and had no injuries were selected for this research. Independent variables consist of the foot type (pes rectus, pes planus) and the structure of the inner arch support band (no band, x-shaped, linear shaped). Dependent variables consist of ground reaction force variables and relative wearing sensation. Results: The impact decreased the most when x-shaped bands were used on pes rectus and rigid pes planus. When linear-shaped bands were used on flexible pes planus, the impact decreased. Conclusion: The bands also helped reduce the impact on pes rectus. Furthermore, it is clear that according to the foot type, the impact reducing band structures perform differently. The inner arch support bands were necessary for jump training for any foot type.

  • The purpose of this study was to attempt new starting motion and supply present starting motion in the 500M short track speed skating according to the center of gravity position. The center of gravity position ratio was divided starting motion into five(type A : front 80%-back 20%, type B front 70%-back 30%, type C : front 50%-back 50%, type D : front 30%-back 70%, type E : front 20%-back 80%). The three dimension motion analysis with DLT(direct linear transformation) method was executed using two video cameras. The following conclusion was that It was appear that reaction and execution time in starting motion was the most short in type B. It was characteristic that step of skaters was shorten and center of gravity position ratio was not effect to change of the step in each event. It was appear that the displacement of type D and type E were longer than that type A and type B during the starting motion. It was appear that skill types of center of gravity position ratio to the front were lower than that to the back and contract a posture. Observing the above, it was conclusion that skill type B of center of gravity position ratio to the tent was more effect than that to the back. But it is important that these skill type was most used to the competition and estimate the result.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze exercise related mechanical variables according to performance levels and Kumi-kata types in elite judo players (G1) and non-elite judo players, namely university players (G2). To achieve this purpose, three players in G1 whose main special skill was Morote-Seoinage and three university judo players(G2) was selected as comparative group. Then they were examined for distinguishing A and B types of Kumi-kata. Analyzed variables were the time required to show skills, knee degree, elbow degree. After analysing this study, conclusions were derived as follows. 1. In total necessary time of showing skills according to group of Kumi-kata type, G2 was longer than G1 in both A type (20.9%) and B type (23.7%). In necessary time of phase, in only 3P, G1 was shorter than G2 in A type (50%) and B type (75%). There was no difference in time required of 1P and 2P according to Kumi-kata type of group and in only 3P, B type was shorter than A type in both B type (75%) of G1 and B type (50%) of G2 2 There was no difference in elbow degree of offensive arm according to group of Kumi-kata type, however in A and B types, G1 could use skills by extending in kake phase, but G2 could use skills by bending. Elbow degree of offensive arm according to Kumi-kata type of group showed difference in E1. and F2 of G1. A and B types of G1 extended elbow degree in Kake phase, but G2 bent elbow degree so exercise program which could movable range extensively in Kake phase is needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of foot type and ankle joint fatigue levels on the trajectories of center of pressure and center of mass during a single-leg stance. The study subjects included 24 healthy women (normal foot group, n=10; pronated foot group, n=14). Ankle joint muscle fatigue was induced by using an isokinetic dynamometer, where the fatigue levels were measured on plantar flexion and dorsiflexion at angular velocities of $30^{\circ}/s$ at 50% and 30% of the peak torque of ankle plantar flexion. Following assessments in the anteroposterior direction according to the level of fatigue, the pronated foot group showed decreased single-leg stance ability at 50% and 30% of the fatigue level. Moreover, the normal foot group showed better single-leg stance ability than the pronated foot group at 30% of the fatigue level. Following assessments in the mediolateral direction, we noted that the single-leg stance ability did not differ significantly according to the levels of fatigue or foot type. In conclusion, ankle plantar flexion at 50% and 30% of the peak torque reduced the ability of the pronated foot group to achieve a single leg stance in the anteroposterior direction. Moreover, the normal foot group showed better single-leg stance ability than the pronated foot group.

  • This study is to find out effective defensive type by analysis on differences among three different defence types of the body lock technique in the ground wrestling. The subjects are 5 athletes who are in 60kg weight class. To get the kinematic analysis seven ProReflex MCU-240(Motion Capture Unit), infrared rays cameras, which was produced by Qualisys, were used to get a two-dimensional coordinate. Following are the analysis result from kinematic factors such as time element, speed element and angular element. 1. During position of ground wrestling, the average necessary time until defender's hip joint touches the mat for Phase1 was $0.34{\pm}0.14sec$ at side position was the shortest space of time out of three types, and Phase2 was $0.21{\pm}0.02sec$ at front position was the shortest space of time out of three types. Moreover, side defence position was the shortest for total average necessary time with $0.78{\pm}0.05sec$. 2. The movement change for hip joint was $57.21{\pm}20.17cm$ for front, $43.35{\pm}7.13cm$ for rear, and $18.67{\pm}10.24cm$ for side at Phase1 and $42.08{\pm}17.56cm$ for side, $16.61{\pm}6.34cm$ for front, and $1.48{\pm}1.29cm$ for rear at Phase2. 3. Movement speed of hip joint at defensive type were most effective in success and fail rate at Phase 1 and its frontal average speed was fastest with $1.01{\pm}0.23m/s$ following by $0.52{\pm}0.15m/s$ for side, and $0.62{\pm}0.15m/s$ for rear. The average for total change of speed is $0.79{\pm}0.32m/s$ for front, $0.78{\pm}0.17m/s$ for side, and $0.49{\pm}0.08m/s$ for rear. 4. The joint angle gets smaller in a order by rear, front, and side for the size of hip joint angle and knee angle for different defensive type. 5. As a result of one-way ANOVA on linear velocity for hip joint in frontal defence(phase1) was significance ($\alpha$=.05), but phase 2 was not significance. Synthetically, analyzing on differences among three different defence types which were front, rear, and side of the body lock technique in the ground wrestling, front defensive type was the most effective. In future, there should be more studies regarding on defence at not a laboratory study but a field study to help out wrestler to pertinent techniques to improve the game of wrestling.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a turn-type treatment program which applies the principle of spotting and a roll-type treatment program that induces off-vertical axis. 29 collegiate students volunteered for this study. 12-week treatment programs were applied to both 15 students for turn-type treatment group and 14 students for roll-type treatment group. As an analytic tool, eye camera was employed to verify the treatment programs for a stimulus upon a turn, recovery after a stimulus upon a turn, and nystagmus that affects a vestibular system. Two-way ANOVA with repeated measures was applied to see the significant differences between the treatment groups, and between the test periods. For Post-Hoc Test, paired t-test was used to within the group and independent t-test was used to between the groups. The results indicated that roll-type treatment training has maximized a stimulus on nystagmyus during the stimulus by a roll. Turn-type treatment training has maximized a stimulus on nystagmyus right after a stimulus by a roll and significantly decreased the intensity of nystagmyus during the recovery. Both turn and roll type treatments have reduced the recovery time which from nystagmyus to a normal status. Roll-type treatment has showed a much shorter recovery time for nystagmyus than the roll-type treatment has. Based on the results of treatment programs developed in this study, we expect the treatment programs can be applied to treat dizziness and to improve the function of vestibular system as a rehabilitation tool.

  • The foot type is classified into normal, high or low arch according to either foot print or medial longitudinal arch (MLA) height. Plantar fasciitis, heel pain, Achilles tendinitis, stress fracture, metatarsalgia, knee pain, shin splint pain, and etc are common foot disorders and associate to the foot type. The purpose of this study was to evaluate several suggested bony inclination used to classified the abnormal foot and if the arch index (AI) was correlated with foot morphology. Lateral view and dorso-plantar view of radiographic images and flatbed scanner measurements obtained from 57 college students were analyzed. Results showed that AI measured in this study was higher than Caucasian Americans and European, but similar with African. The ethnic origin could influent the AI distribution. The AI provided a simple quantitative means of assessing the structure of lateral and medial longitudinal arches. The correlation coefficients of true bone height with AI could be further improved by normalized foot width rather than foot length. AI also demonstrated as a good indicator of inclination between calcaneus-fifth metatarsal (CalM5) and calcaneus-first metatarsal (CalX), it is a good means to classify the foot type.
