A Statistical Correction of Point Time Series Data of the NCAM-LAMP Medium-range Prediction System Using Support Vector Machine (서포트 벡터 머신을 이용한 NCAM-LAMP 고해상도 중기예측시스템 지점 시계열 자료의 통계적 보정)

  • Recently, an R-based point time series data validation system has been established for the statistical post processing and improvement of the National Center for AgroMeteorology-Land Atmosphere Modeling Package (NCAM-LAMP) medium-range prediction data. The time series verification system was used to compare the NCAM-LAMP with the AWS observations and GDAPS medium-range prediction model data operated by Korea Meteorological Administration. For this comparison, the model latitude and longitude data closest to the observation station were extracted and a total of nine points were selected. For each point, the characteristics of the model prediction error were obtained by comparing the daily average of the previous prediction data of air temperature, wind speed, and hourly precipitation, and then we tried to improve the next prediction data using Support Vector Machine( SVM) method. For three months from August to October 2017, the SVM method was used to calibrate the predicted time series data for each run. It was found that The SVM-based correction was promising and encouraging for wind speed and precipitation variables than for temperature variable. The correction effect was small in August but considerably increased in September and October. These results indicate that the SVM method can contribute to mitigate the gradual degradation of medium-range predictability as the model boundary data flows into the model interior.

  • Digital systems are increasingly being used in the ranges of many control engineering. The residue number system offers the possibility of high speed operation and error correction. The compact self-checking pulse-train residue arithmetic circuit is proposed. A fault tolerant digital filter is practically implemented using these proposed circuits.

  • Recently many efforts on the development of automatic processing system for delivery sequence sorting have been performed in ETRI , which requires the use of postal 4-state bar code system to encode delivery points. The 4-state bar code called postal 4-state bar code for high speed processing that has been specifically designed for information processing of logistics and automatic processing of the mail items. This paper describes a method of Reed-Solomon encoding for creating error correction codeword of 4-state bar code.

  • The block error probabilities of noncoherent frequency shift keying in a Nakagami fading channel are presented in this papaer. The channel fading speed, show or fast. is consider in evaluating block error probabilities. The effectiveness of diversity combing and error correction coding in improving block error performance is examined. The effect of cochannel interference on block error performance is also studied in this paper.

  • 2개의 S/H (Sample and Hold)회로를 내장한 ADC (Analog to Digital converter)는 전동기의 3상 전류를 동시점에서 샘플링(sampling)할 수 없다. 또한 전류 센서 및 아날로그 신호처리 회로의 이득은 오차가 있다. 이러한 이유로 3상 측정 전류의 불평형 상태가 야기될 수 있으며 이 불평형은 전동기 전류제어에 영향을 미친다. 이 논문에서는 2개의 S/H 회로를 이용한 3상 전류 측정의 동기화 및 이득 오차의 보정 방법을 제안하고 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통하여 제안된 방법을 검증하였다.

  • Estimation of wind load on bridges is one of the most important aspects in designing bridges in coastal region. Various design codes and researches have suggested the procedure to estimate design wind speed; however, they do not match one another due to many reasons such as incomplete data set, ignorance of wind environment and so on. For this reason, the necessity of guideline for estimation procedure of basic wind speed which reflect the roughness of surface and the topographical effect have been increasing. In this study, we have analysed limitations of the basic wind speed of nationwide suggested by Korea Building code(AIK, 2009) and Highway bridge design code(MOLTMA, 2010). In additional, we set forth guidelines considering the roughness of land surface and the topographical effect. Using the procedure, the basic wind speed were estimated for 15 coastal regions in Korea and compared with those listed in the existing codes.

  • The Viterbi decoder which is used for the forward error correction(FEC) is a crucial component for successful modern communication systems. As modern communication speed rapidly high, the development of high speed communication module is important. However, since the feedback loop in ACS operation, high speed of Viterbi decoder is very difficult. In this paper, we propose an area reduced, high speed ACS Architecture of Viterbi decoder based on the radix-4 architecture. The area is reduced by rearranging the ACS operations, and the speed is improved by retiming of path metric memory. The proposed ACS architecture of Viterbi decoder is implemented in VHDL and synthesized in Xilinx ISE 6.2i. The area-time product of the proposed architecture is improved by 11% compared to that of the previous high speed radix-4 ACS architecture.

Speed Trial Analysis of Korean Ice Breaking Research Vessel 'Araon' on the Big Floes (큰 빙판에서 아라온 호 쇄빙 속도 성능 해석)

  • The speed performances of ice sea trial on the Arctic(2010 & 2011) area were shown different results depend on the ice floe size. Penetration phenomena of level ice was not happened on medium ice floe and tore up by the impact force because the mass of medium ice floe is similar to the mass of Araon which is Korean ice breaking research vessel and did not shut up by the ice ridge or iceberg. The sea trial on the Amundsen sea was performed at the big floe which is classified by WMO(World Meteorological Organization). Three measurements of ice properties and five results of speed trial were obtained with different ice thicknesses and engine powers. To evaluate speed of level ice trial and model test results at the same ice thickness and engine power, the correction method of HSVA(Hamburg Ship Model Basin) was used. The thickness, snow effect, flexural strength and friction coefficient were corrected to compare the speed of sea trial. The analyzed speed at 1.03m thickness of big floe was 5.85 knots at 10MW power and it's 6.10 knots at 1.0m ice thickness and the same power. It's bigger than the results of level ice because big floe was also slightly tore up by the impact force of vessel based on the observation of recorded video.
