When a large ship is advancing in waves, ship undergoes the hydroelastic response, and this have influence on structural stability and the fatigue destruction etc. of ship. The main objective of this research is to develop an accurate and convenient method on the hydroelastic response analysis of ships on the real sea states. We analyzed hydroelastic responses, which is formulated by finite element method. The numerical approach for the hydroelastic responses is based on the combination of the three dimensional source distribution method, the dynamic response analysis and the spectral analysis method. The calculated results show good agreement with the experimental and calculated ones by Watanabe.

The dynamic response of rotor-bearing systems subjected to six-component nonststionary earthquake ground accelerations is analyzed. The governing equations of motion for the rotor are derived using Lagrangian approach. The six-component earthquake inputs result in both inhomogeneous and parametric excitations, so that the conventional spectral analysis of random vibration is not applicable. The method of Monte Carlo simulation is utilized to simulate the six-component nonstationary earthquake ground motions and to determine the response statistics of rotor-bearing systems. The significant influences due to rotational motions of seismic base on the overall structural response is demonstrated by a numerical example.

In this study, multispectral images of wheat according to soil water state were collected, compared, and analyzed to measure the physiological response of crops to environmental stress at the individual level. CMS-V multi-spectral camera(Silios Technologies) was used for image acquisition. The camera lens consists of eight spectral bands between 550nm and 830nm. Light Reflective information collected in each band sensor and stored in digital values, and it is converted into a reflectance for calculating the vegetation index and used. According to the camera manual, the NDVI(Normalized Difference vegetation index) value was calculated using 628 nm and 752 nm bands. Image measurement was conducted under natural light conditions, and reflectance standards(Labsphere) were captured with plants for reflectance calculation. The wheat variety used Gosomil, and the wheat grown in the field was transplanted into a pot after heading date and measured. Three treatments were performed so that the soil volumetric water content of the pot was 13~17%, 20~23%, and 25%, and the growth response of wheat according to each treatment was compared using the NDVI value. In the first measurement after port transplantation, the difference in NDVI value according to treatment was not significant, but in the subsequent measurement, the NDVI value of the treatment with a water content of 13 to 17% was lowest and was the highest at 20 to 23%. The NDVI values decreased compared to the first measurement in all treatment, and the decrease was the largest at 13-17% water content and the smallest at 20-23%. Although the difference in NDVI values could be confirmed, it would be difficult to directly relate it to the water stress of plants, and further research on the response of crops to environmental stress and the analysis of multi-spectral image will be needed.
An empirical model for diesel engine control was obtained using a system identification method. A pseudo-random binary sequence was used as an input signal. Spectral anaylsis was used to find the frequency response of system. Model parameters of transfer functions were obtained using nonlinear regression.

Measuring color precisely requires the use of a colorimeter whose spectral response is as close as possible to the CIE response. Some techniques such as the NIST 4-color method can improve the precision. but under given conditions, the results can be worse.

This paper introduces a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-based spectral dynamic analysis method for the transient responses as well as the steady-state responses of the linear discrete systems subject to non-zero initial conditions. The forced vibration of a viscously damped three-DOF system is considered as the illustrative numerical example. The proposed spectral analysis method is evaluated by comparing its results with the exact analytical solutions and the numerical solutions obtained by the Runge-Kutta method.

To analyzed ride quality and to predict durability in vehicle dynamics, it is essential to describe a road surface profile precisely. This paper presents a technique to generate road surface profiles in a spatial domain by using a power spectral density function. A single track power spectral density function is proposed to describe a road surface profile, which is also applicable for multi-track vehicle response analysis, The derived road surfaces are compared to ISO(International Organization for Standardization) standards and classifications, proposed by the MIRA(Motor Industry Research Association). The methodology in this paper is also proposed to generate road roughness description with a limited external data. A small amount of external curve data is combined with an internal PSD function to generate road surface roughness in a spatial domain.

We Propose the methods to design the finite impulse response (FIR) and the infinite impulse response (IIR) lattice filters using Schur algorithm through the spectral factorization of the covariance matrix by circulant matrix factorization (CMF). Circulant matrix factorization is also very powerful tool used for spectral factorization of the covariance polynomial in matrix domain to obtain the minimum phase polynomial without the polynomial root finding problem. Schur algorithm is the method for a fast Cholesky factorization of Toeplitz matrix, which easily determines the lattice filter parameters. Examples for the case of the FIR filter and for the case of the In filter are included, and performance of our method check by comparing of our method and another methods (polynomial root finding and cepstral deconvolution).
This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of dynamic parameters, such as correlation dimension $D_2,$ by comparing spectral electroencephalographic (EEG) parameters. These parameters are used to estimate the depth of halothane anesthesia as defined by the presence of body movement in response to a tail clamp. Six rats were used and each of them was exposed to halothane sequentially at the concentrations of 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% for 30 min. A tail clamp was applied every five min and the movements were recorded at each concentration level. The spectral parameters and the dynamic parameters were derived from 20-sec and 10-sec segments, respectively, from the last 5-mins of EEG recording at each concentration level. Correlation coefficients between the parameters and the movements were calculated. Standardized values of three parameters, betaL power, median power frequency (MPF), and $D_2$ were derived by calculation based on the number of animals showing the movement in response to a tail clamp. The betaL power had the largest correlation coefficient to spontaneous movement and to the response to a tail clamp than any other band parameter. MPF had a better correlation with the movement than 90% spectral edge frequency. Among the dynamic parameters, $D_2$ on the parietal cortex had a better correlation with the movement. The level of deviation and variation of standardized $D_2,$ MPF, and betaL were significant (p<0.01). The order of deviation and variation was; betaL power > MPF > $D_2.$ The correlation dimension serves as a better index for the depth of halothane anesthesia defined in forms of a response to external stimulation.
Evaluation of earthquake impacts in settlements with a high risk of earthquake occurrence is important for the determination of site-specific dynamic soil parameters and earthquake-resistant structural planning. In this study, dynamic soil properties of Karliova (Bingol) city center, located near to the intersection point of the North Anatolian Fault Zone and the East Anatolian Fault Zone and therefore having a high earthquake risk, were investigated by one-dimensional equivalent linear site response analysis. From ground response analyses, peak ground acceleration, predominant site period, 0.2-sec and 1-sec spectral accelerations and soil amplification maps of the study area were obtained for both near-field and far-field earthquake effects. The average acceleration spectrum obtained from analysis, for a near-field earthquake scenario, was found to exceed the design spectra of the Turkish Earthquake Code and Eurocode 8. Yet, the average acceleration spectrum was found to remain below the respective design spectra of the two codes for the far-field earthquake scenario. According to both near- and far-field earthquake scenarios in the study area, the low-rise buildings with low modal vibration durations are expected to be exposed to high spectral acceleration values and high-rise buildings with high modal vibration durations will be exposed to lower spectral accelerations. While high amplification ratios are observed in the north of the study area for the near-distance earthquake scenario, high amplification ratios are observed in the south of the study area for the long-distance earthquake scenario.
