This paper showed how to analysis the object-based classification for wildfire fuel type map using Hyperion hyperspectral remote sensing data acquired in April, 2002 and compared the results of the object-based classification with the results of the pixel-based classification. Our methodological approach for wildfire fuel type map firstly processed correcting abnormal pixels and atypical bands and also calibrating atmospheric noise for enhanced image quality. Fuel type map is characterized by the results of the spectral mixture analysis(SMA). Object-based approach was based on segment-based endmember selection, while pixel-based method used standard SMA. To validate and compare, we used true-color high resolution orthoimagery.

The WSGG-based narrow band model was employed to solve the radiative transfer equations along isothermal and non-isothermal paths through $CO_2-H_2O-N_2$ gas mixtures at 1 atm. When the WSGGM is applied for arbitrary gas mixtures by considering the multiplication property of transmissivity in overlapping bands, the number of gray gases is significantly increased. To reduce the computation time, three different regrouping methods for the gray gases are tested in obtaining the mean absorption coefficient for each gray gas group. Among them, the regrouping method by minimizing the regrouping error shows the best results. For the isothermal media, 10 gray gases show fairly good agreement with the results by statistical narrow band(SNB) model which are regarded as reference solutions. For non-isothermal media, 20 gray gases show good agreement with reference solutions.
Purpose: This study investigated different band selection methods to classify spectrally similar data - obtained from aerial images of healthy citrus canopies and citrus greening disease (Huanglongbing or HLB) infected canopies - using small differences without unmixing endmember components and therefore without the need for an endmember library. However, large number of hyperspectral bands has high redundancy which had to be reduced through band selection. The objective, therefore, was to first select the best set of bands and then detect citrus Huanglongbing infected canopies using these bands in aerial hyperspectral images. Methods: The forward feature selection algorithm (FFSA) was chosen for band selection. The selected bands were used for identifying HLB infected pixels using various classifiers such as K nearest neighbor (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), naïve Bayesian classifier (NBC), and generalized local discriminant bases (LDB). All bands were also utilized to compare results. Results: It was determined that a few well-chosen bands yielded much better results than when all bands were chosen, and brought the classification results on par with standard hyperspectral classification techniques such as spectral angle mapper (SAM) and mixture tuned matched filtering (MTMF). Median detection accuracies ranged from 66-80%, which showed great potential toward rapid detection of the disease. Conclusions: Among the methods investigated, a support vector machine classifier combined with the forward feature selection algorithm yielded the best results.
Phase transformation of PbO-precursor prepared from $Pb(NO_{3})_{2}$ by precipitation technique was observed by TG-DTA, XRD, FT-IR, and Raman spectral analysis. PbO-precursor was derived from an aqueous solution of $Pb(NO_{3})_{2}$ at $45^{\circ}C$ and pH of 9.0. The precipitate showed it to be the mixture of hydrous lead oxynitrate and lead hydroxynitrate. With increasing heat-treatment temperature ranging up to $560^{\circ}C$, the precursor changed to $3Pb(NO_{3})_{2}$ . 7Pb0, $Pb(NO_{3})_{2}$. 5Pb0 and PbO(litharge), in turn. Finally, it transformed to massicot form of PbO above $560^{\circ}C$.
This paper presents a statistical model-based noise suppression approach for voice recognition in a car environment. In order to alleviate the spectral whitening and signal distortion problem in the traditional decision-directed Wiener filter, we combine a decision-directed method with an original spectrum reconstruction method and develop a new two-stage noise reduction filter estimation scheme. When a tradeoff between the performance and computational efficiency under resource-constrained automotive devices is considered, ETSI standard advance distributed speech recognition font-end (ETSI-AFE) can be an effective solution, and ETSI-AFE is also based on the decision-directed Wiener filter. Thus, a series of voice recognition and computational complexity tests are conducted by comparing the proposed approach with ETSI-AFE. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is superior to the conventional method in terms of speech recognition accuracy, while the computational cost and frame latency are significantly reduced.

First, in this study, the inhibition efficiencies of metal complexes with Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) of STSC ligand for corrosion control of mild steel in oilfield formation water were investigated. The IEs for a mixture of 500 ppm STSC and 5 ppm metal ion ($Cu^{+2}$, $Ni^{+2}$, $Zn^{+2}$) were found to be 88.77, 87.96 and 85.13 %, respectively. The results were obtained from the electrochemical techniques such as open circuit potential, linear and tafel polarization methods. The polarization studies have showed that all used Schiff base metal complexes are anodic inhibitors. The protective film has been analyzed by FTIR technique. Also, to detect the presence of the iron-inhibitor complex, UV-Visible spectral analysis technique was used. The inhibitive effect was attributed to the formation of insoluble complex adsorbed on the mild steel surface and the adsorption process follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The surface morphology has been analyzed by SEM. Secondly, the computational studies of the ligand and its metal complexes were performed using DFT (B3LYP) method with the $6-311G^{{\ast}{\ast}}$ basis set. Finally, it is found that the experimental results were closely related to theoretical ones.

Multiple attribute for decision making including user preference will increase the complexity of route selection process. Various approaches have been proposed to solve the optimal route selection problem. In this paper, multi attribute decision making (MADM) algorithms such as Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), Weighted Product Method (WPM), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and Total Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods have been proposed for acoustic signature based optimal route selection to facilitate user with better quality of service. The traffic density state conditions (very low, low, below medium, medium, above medium, high and very high) on the road segment is the occurrence and mixture weightings of traffic noise signals (Tyre, Engine, Air Turbulence, Exhaust, and Honks etc) is considered as one of the attribute in decision making process. The short-term spectral envelope features of the cumulative acoustic signals are extracted using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Classifier (ANFC) is used to model seven traffic density states. Simple point method and AHP has been used for calculation of weights of decision parameters. Numerical results show that WPM, AHP and TOPSIS provide similar performance.
Heart sounds are the main obstacle in lung sound analysis. To tackle this obstacle, we propose a diagnosis algorithm that uses singular spectrum analysis (SSA) and frequency features of heart and lung sounds. In particular, we introduce a frequency coefficient that shows the frequency difference between heart and lung sounds. The proposed algorithm is applied to a synthetic mixture of heart and lung sounds. The results show that heart sounds can be extracted successfully and localizations for the first and second heart sounds are remarkably performed. An error analysis of the localization results shows that the proposed algorithm has fewer errors compared to the SSA method, which is one of the most powerful methods in the localization of heart sounds. The presented algorithm is also applied in the cases of recorded respiratory sounds from the chest walls of five healthy subjects. The efficiency of the algorithm in extracting heart sounds from the recorded breathing sounds is verified with power spectral density evaluations and listening. Most studies have used only normal respiratory sounds, whereas we additionally use abnormal breathing sounds to validate the strength of our achievements.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of thymus extract on corrosion inhibition of aluminum 5083 alloy in a 0.1 M NaCl medium prepared using a mixture of ethylene glycol and water using potentiodynamic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The potentiodynamic electrochemical technique showed an increase in corrosion inhibition efficiency starting from 49.63% at a concentration of 0.25 g/L to 92.71% at a maximum concentration of 1.25 g/L of the extract. These results were consistent with those obtained via EIS analysis. Spectral characterization of the tested plant extract using the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) technique confirmed the presence of organic compounds having different oxygen and aromatic functionalities in the extract that could help enhance the adsorption of these compounds on the aluminum surface. This study reveals possible adsorption isotherm of the thymus extract on the aluminum surface, supporting a Langmuir isotherm for the adsorption of inhibitor molecules on this surface.
