Nuclear energy plays a crucial role in energy supply in the 21st century, and more and more Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) will be in operation to contribute to the development of human society. However, as a typical complex system engineering, the operation and development of NPPs require efficient and stable control methods to ensure the safety and efficiency of nuclear power generation. Reinforcement learning (RL) aims at learning optimal control policies via maximizing discounted long-term rewards. The reward-oriented learning paradigm has witnessed remarkable success in many complex systems, such as wind power systems, electric power systems, coal fire power plants, robotics, etc. In this work, we try to present a systematic review of the applications of RL on these complex systems, from which we believe NPPs can borrow experience and insights. We then conduct a block-by-block investigation on the application scenarios of specific tasks in NPPs and carried out algorithmic research for different situations such as power startup, collaborative control, and emergency handling. Moreover, we discuss the possibilities of further application of RL methods on NPPs and detail the challenges when applying RL methods on NPPs. We hope this work can boost the realization of intelligent NPPs, and contribute to more and more research on how to better integrate RL algorithms into NPPs.

This paper describes development of hardware simulator for the PMSG wind power system, which was designed considering wind characteristic, blade characteristic and blade inertia compensation. The simulator consists of three major parts, such as wind turbine model using induction motor, PMSG generator, converter-inverter set. and control system. The turbine simulator generates torque and speed signals for a specific wind turbine with respect to given wind speed. This torque and speed signals are scaled down to fit the input of 2kW PMSG. The PMSG-side converter operates to track the maximum power point, and the grid-side inverter controls the active and reactive power supplied to the grid. The operational feasibility was verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC, and the implementation feasibility was confirmed through experimental works with a hardware set-up.
As many researchers want to predict or assess more about wind condition and wind power generation, CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis method is very good way to do predict or assess wind condition and power generation. But CFD analysis is needed much knowledge of aerodynamics and physical fluid theory. In this paper, Auto-Wind CFD analysis program will be introduced. User does not need specific knowledge of CFD or fluid theory. This program just needs topographical data and wind data for initial condition. Then all of process is running automatically without any order of user. And this program gives for user to select and set initial condition for advanced solving CFD. At the last procedure of solving, Auto-Wind program shows analysis of topography and wind condition of target area. Moreover, Auto-Wind can predict wind power generation with calculation in the program. This Auto-Wind analysis program will be good tool for many wind power researchers in real field.
This paper presents a novel prototype version of ZCS-PWM forward DC-DC power converter using power MOSFETs which is designed for application specific low voltage large current conversion operation. The soft-switching forward power converter with a high frequency isolated transformer link which can efficiency operate over wide load ranges under two conditions of ZCS as well as active voltage clamped switching is evaluated and discussed on the basis of the simulation and experimental results.

In this paper, the efficiency of single-input multiple-output (SIMO) wireless power transfer systems is examined. Closed-form solutions for the receiver loads that maximize either the total efficiency or the efficiency for a specific receiver are derived. They are validated with the solutions obtained using genetic algorithm (GA) optimization. The optimum load values required to maximize the total efficiency are found to be identical for all the receivers. Alternatively, the loads of receivers can be adjusted to deliver power selectively to a receiver of interest. The total efficiency is not significantly affected by this selective power distribution. A SIMO system is fabricated and tested; the measured efficiency matches closely with the efficiency obtained from the theory.
Based on classification systems of power and IT standard dictionaries, scientific and technological standard, SPARK, power IT fields of IEC and organization units of corporations, we propose a new classification system for the standardization of power of terminologies. The classification system consists of a hierarchical structure with general classification, application fields and specific technologies while keeping the conventional matrix-type classification system. Interpretation work of the power of terminologies confirms that the proposed classification system is efficient.

This paper describes a scaled model development of PMSG wind power system using wind turbine simulator and matrix converter. The wind turbine simulator, which consists of an induction motor with vector drive, calculates the output torque of a specific wind turbine using simulation software and sends the torque signal to the vector drive after scaling down the calculated value. The operational feasibility of interconnected PMSG system with matrix converter was verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility of hardware implementation was conformed by experimental works with a laboratory scaled-model of wind power system. The simulation and experimental results confirm that matrix converter can be effectively applied for the PMSG wind power system.
Supplying power to microsystems that have no physical connection to the outside is difficult, and using batteries is not always appropriate. This paper discusses how to generate electricity from mechanical energy when vibrated in a cantilever beam. A model for the system predicts that the output power of the system is maximized when the mechanical damping in the system is minimized. Furthermore, to cover a wide frequency range and to be useful in a number of applications, a system of beams with different resonant frequencies has been designed and optimized. This information makes it possible to determine what design alternatives are feasible for the creation of a micro power supply for any specific application of MEMS.
Recently, the technological progress in manufacturing power devices based on wide bandgap materials, for example, silicon carbide(SiC) or gallium nitride(GaN), has resulted in a significant improvement of the operating-voltage range and switching speed and/or specific on resistance compared with silicon power devices. This paper will give an overview of the status on The Next generation Power Devices such as SiC/GaN with a focus on commercialization and research.
In this paper, we design a digital protection IED(Intelligent Electric Device) for a distributed power system in connection with power grid. The device can measure various elements for protection and communicate with another devices through network. The protection IED is composed of specific function modules: signal process module which converts analog signal from PT and CT handle algorithm to digital one; communication module for connection with another IEDs; input/output module for user-interfaces; main control module for control the whole modules. A general purpose DSP board with TMS320C2812 is used in the IED. Experiments with the power system simulator DOBLE have been made to verily the proposed hardware system.
