  • In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of a speech source using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based algorithm. Basically, the proposed algorithm utilizes a complex coefficient band pass filter to generate the narrow band signals for signal analysis. Also, reverberation component reduction and quadratic function-based response approximation in MUSIC spatial spectrum are utilized to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the well-known generalized cross-correlation (GCC)-based DOA estimation algorithm in the aspect of the estimation error and success rate, respectively.Abstract should be placed here. • Purpose: Recently in diagnostics area PET/CT is using a variety of areas including oncology, as well as in cardiology, neurology, etc. While increasing in the importance of PET/CT, there are various researches in the image quality related to reconstruction method. We compared and tested Iterative 2D Reconstruction Method with True X Reconstruction method by Siemens through phantom experiment, so we can see increasing of clinical usefulness of PET/CT. Materials and Methods: We measured contrast ratio and FWHM due to evaluating images on dose and experiment using Biograph 40 True Point PET/CT (Siemens, Germany). Getting a result of contrast ratio and FWHM, we used NEMA IEC PET body phantom (Data Spectrum Corp.) and capillary tube. We used the current TrueX and the previous Iterative 2D algorithm for all images which have 10 minutes long. Also, a clinical suitability of parameter for Iterative 2D and a recommended parameter by Siemens for True X are applied to the experiment. Results: We tested FWHM using capillary tube. As a result, TrueX was less than Iterative 2D. Also, the differences of FWHM get bigger in low dose. On the other hand, we tested contrasts ratio using NEMA IEC PET body phantom. As a result, TrueX was better aspect than Iterative 2D. However, there was no difference in dose. Conclusion: In this experiment, TrueX get higher results of contrast ratio and spatial resolution than Itertive 2D through experiment. Also, in the reconstruction result through TrueX, TrueX had better aspect of resolution than Iterative 2D in low dose. However, contrast ratio had no specific difference. In other words, TrueX reconstruction method in PET/CT had higher clinical value in use because TrueX can reduce exposure of patient and had a better quality of screen.

  • This study aims to develop the floating debris detection algorithm using a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and multispectral sensors. In addition, the occurrence range of floating debris was estimated by applying the algorithm. An aerial photograph using an unmanned aerial vehicle was used to generate an orthoimage that can calculate the area. A spectrum survey of water, plants litter, polystyrene foam etc. was conducted. After obtaining spectroscopic characteristics of floating debris and water, the River Floating Debris (RFD) index was calculated. And we detected the floating debris through band combination of sensor using RFD. As a result of the RFD application, accumulation zone of floating debris was confirmed at three sites in the orthoimage. It was estimated that a lot of floating debris was accumulated at 0.82 ha ($8,200m^2$), which is corresponding to 3.6% including the accumulation zone.

  • Spatial control of sound is essential to deliver better sound to the listener's position in space. As it can be experienced in many listening environments. the quality of sound can not be manifested over every Position in a hall. This motivates us to control sound in a region we select. The primary focus of the developed method has to do with the brightness and contrast of acoustic image in space. In particular, the acoustic brightness control seeks a way to increase loudness of sound over a chosen area, and the contrast control aims to enhance loudness difference between two neighboring regions. This enables us to make two different kinds of zone - the zone of quiet and the zone of loud sound - at the same time. The other perspective of this study is on the direction of sound. It is shown that we can control the direction of perceived sound source by focusing acoustic energy in wavenumber domain. To begin with, the proposed approaches are formulated for pure-tone case. Then the control methods are extended to a more general case, where the excitation signal has broadband spectrum. In order to control the broadband signal in time domain, an inverse filter design problem is defined and solved in frequency domain. Numerical and experimental results obtained in various conditions certainly validate that the acoustic brightness, acoustic contrast, direction of wave front can be manipulated for some finite region in space and time.

  • This paper describes the experimental study for the position estimation method of underwater sound source using the Nearfield Acoustic Holography. The result confirms that it can be used in the identification of underwater noise sources. The sound sources in the experimental work consists of 2 spherical projectors and the near-Held sound pressure is measured in the hologram plane. From the cross-power spectra of the measured data, the complex sound pressures on the hologram plane is derived and its spatial transformation gives sound fields in a source region. The obtained sound fields in a source region showed that the position of each sound source and their relative source strength are exactly estimated. In conclusion, this technique can be applied for estimation of each source position and its relative strength contribution for the underwater multiple sound sources.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the quality of digital X-ray imaging system. The image quality evaluation was conducted By using Modulation transfer function indicating the quantitative resolution of the image and the noise power spectrum showing the noise characteristics. Using a IEC61267 radiation quality was applied to the geometry to be used in clinical and geometry presented in IEC62220-1 and Additional filter, grid, the clinical dose and the MTF value of edge phantom was measured. Result of the MTF corresponding to each item(Grid, Filter, SID, kVp, mAs), the clinical condition 100cm, 180cm, measurements of the spatial frequency of the MTF IEC62220-1Geometry 150cm became similarly apparent, rather spatial frequency was also the case high in clinical conditions 100cm. NPS results, as the dose(mAs) is increased, NPS showed that reduced. The image quality evaluation using IEC61267 the Radiation quality, Image quality of the video using the clinical conditions Geometry than image quality evaluation using IEC62220-1Geometry was better. It shows that MTF and NPC in IEC and clinical condition were not significantly different. In order to apply the evaluation method of image quality applied with clinical conditions rather than the future method, to be presented evaluation of IEC standard, based on the results of the image characterization studies in this paper, the methods that shows good quality of spatial resolution and decrease NPS value as the least dose, used suitable parameters for whether or not using added filter, grid, change SID and clinical quality(kVp), dose(mAs) etc should be found. then It is believed to be able to properly maintain the actual quality of the image of the digital radiographic imaging system in clinical.

  • The current spectral shape matching method (SSMM), developed by Ahn and Shanmugam (2004), relies on the assumption that the path radiance resulting from scattered photons due to air molecules and aerosols and possibly direct-reflected light from the air-sea interface is spatially homogeneous over the sub-scene of interest, enabling the retrieval of water-leaving radiances ($L_w$) from the satellite ocean color image data. This assumption remains valid for the clear atmospheric conditions, but when the distribution of aerosol loadings varies dramatically the above postulation of spatial homogeneity will be violated. In this study, we present the second version of SSMM which will take into account the horizontal variations of aerosol loading in the correction of atmospheric effects in SeaWiFS ocean color image data. The new version includes models for the correction of the effects of aerosols and Raleigh particles and a method fur computation of diffuse transmittance ($t_{os}$) as similar to SeaWiFS. We tested this method over the different optical environments and compared its effectiveness with the results of standard atmospheric correction (SAC) algorithm (Gordon and Wang, 1994) and those from in-situ observations. Findings revealed that the SAC algorithm appeared to distort the spectral shape of water-leaving radiance spectra in suspended sediments (SS) and algal bloom dominated-areas and frequently yielded underestimated or often negative values in the lower green and blue part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Retrieval of water-leaving radiances in coastal waters with very high sediments, for instance = > 8g $m^{-3}$, was not possible with the SAC algorithm. As the current SAC algorithm does not include models for the Asian aerosols, the water-leaving radiances over the aerosol-dominated areas could not be retrieved from the image and large errors often resulted from an inappropriate extrapolation of the estimated aerosol radiance from two IR bands to visible spectrum. In contrast to the above results, the new SSMM enabled accurate retrieval of water-leaving radiances in a various range of turbid waters with SS concentrations from 1 to 100 g $m^{-3}$ that closely matched with those from the in-situ observations. Regardless of the spectral band, the RMS error deviation was minimum of 0.003 and maximum of 0.46, in contrast with those of 0.26 and 0.81, respectively, for SAC algorithm. The new SSMM also remove all aerosol effects excluding areas for which the signal-to-noise ratio is much lower than the water signal.

  • Recently, techniques involving head-mounted displays (HMDs) have attracted much attention from academia and industry owing to the increased demand for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Because HMDs are positioned near to users' eyes, it is important to solve the accommodation-vergence conflict problem to prevent dizziness. Therefore, holography is considered ideal for implementing HMDs. However, within the Nyquist region, the accommodation effect is limited by the space-bandwidth-product of the signal, which is determined by the sampling number of spatial light modulators. In addition, information about the angular spectrum is duplicated over the Fourier domain, and it is necessary to filter out the redundancy. The size of the exit-pupil of the HMD is limited by the Nyquist sampling theory. We newly propose a holographic HMD with an expanded exit-pupil over the Nyquist region by using the time-multiplexing method, and the accommodation effect is enhanced. We realize time-multiplexing by synchronizing a high-speed digital micromirror device and a liquid-crystal shutter array. We also demonstrate the accommodation effect experimentally.

  • Implicit numerical scheme using fractional step method and FCT is used to improve the computational efficiency of WAM. Square wave test and simulation of typhoon generated waves are conducted to verify the numerical scheme. The applied scheme shows much less numerical diffusion and due to the implicit character of the scheme much larger time steps can be used without numerical instability. For typhoon MAEMI, comparison between the numerical results and the measured data shows good agreement.
