Complex cell-to-cell communication underlies the basic processes essential for homeostasis in the given tissue architecture. Obtaining quantitative gene-expression of cells in their native context has significantly advanced through single-cell RNA sequencing technologies along with mechanical and enzymatic tissue manipulation. This approach, however, is largely reliant on the physical dissociation of individual cells from the tissue, thus, resulting in a library with unaccounted positional information. To overcome this, positional information can be obtained by integrating imaging and positional barcoding. Collectively, spatial transcriptomics strategies provide tissue architecture-dependent as well as position-dependent cellular functions. This review discusses the current technologies for spatial transcriptomics ranging from the methods combining mechanical dissociation and single-cell RNA sequencing to computational spatial re-mapping.
Today, ubiquitous technology (e.g. computers or networked devices pervade everywhere we are) has enlarged by great advancement of information and communication technologies. If ubiquitous technologies is applied to, innovation of spatial information technology is expected. traditional spatial information technologies such as survey, GIS, GPS, LBS, and RS and ubiquitous technology gradual1y have been converged. The aim of this study is to create shared visions in spatial information technologies by scenario based roadmapping. So, we surveyed the state of the art in main spatial information technologies, market status and patent map. Consequently, prospects of spatial information technologies is suggested. The aim of 1st and 2nd NGIS project focused on map supplier was to develop digital map(e.g. framework data, various thematic map). As a result, the best technology of digital mapping is achieved in the world. But, there is not enough to develop GIS and LBS solution. Current market in GIS S/W and Telematics is about 384billon won and 250billion won. a patent is applied in the order, like a USA(1571case, 47%), Japan(883case, 26%), EU(478case, 14%), Korea(446case, 13%). In the future, spatial information technology fused on ubiquitous technology will be focused on user's demand and developing convenience context. The developing target will be realtime monitoring of 3D spatial data based on high resolution coordinate system, sharing and supplying multi-sensor data considered users demand, location service by ubiquitous technologies.
Mobile technologies have enabled marketers to target consumers anywhere and anytime. However, as consumers react and respond differently depending on what situation they are in, there is an apparent need to determine when, where, and what kind of advertisement is most relevant to the consumer. This paper proposes a holistic approach to examine the response of consumers when faced with two types of contextual factors (environmental/spatial and social contexts) through the lens of the Mobile Advertising Effectiveness Framework. We focus on the contextual effects of perceived distance from the offline store and the effect of popularity cue indication. A scenario-based survey is conducted to investigate the effects of perceived distance and popularity cue on the users' attitudes, and ultimately on their response intentions, upon receipt of mobile ads. Results of the study confirm the hypotheses: first, mobile ads sent when users perceive the physical store to be in close proximity tend to evoke more positive attitudes and elicit better responses compared to when users perceive the store to be farther away. Additionally, ad messages indicating high popularity were found to be more appealing than those with low popularity. These empirical results underscore the pivotal role of context, encompassing both spatial context (proximity to offline stores) and social context (popularity cues), in shaping consumer attitudes and response intentions in mobile advertising. The findings of the study offer theoretical insights that underline the significance of holistic context-based approaches that in turn, marketers may use to design more effective mobile ad campaigns that may elicit better responses from consumers.
The hippocampus and prefrontal cortex are regarded as the highest-order association cortices. The hippocampus has been proposed to store "cognitive maps" of external environments, and the prefrontal cortex is known to be involved in the planning of behavior, among other functions. Considering the prominent functional roles played by these structures, it is not surprising to find direct monosynaptic projections from the hippocampus to the prefrontal cortex. Rhythmic stimulation of this projection patterned after the hippocampal EEG theta rhythm induced stable long-term potentiation of field potentials in the prefrontal cortex. Comparison of behavioral correlates of hippocampal and prefrontal cortical neurons during an a-arm radial maze, working memory task shows a striking contrast. Hippocampal neurons exhibit clear place-specific firing patterns, whereas prefrontal cortical neurons do not show spatial selectivity, but are correlated to different stages of the behavioral task. These data lead to the hypothesis that the role of hippocampal projection to the prefrontal cortex is not to impose spatial representations upon prefrontal activity, but to provide a mechanism for learning the spatial context in which particular behaviors are appropriate.propriate.
A robotic spatial augmented reality (RSAR) system combines a robotics technology with a spatial augmented reality system (SAR) where cameras are used to recognize real objects and projectors augment information and user interface directly on the surface of the recognized objects, rather than relying on handheld display devices. Moreover, a robotic module is actively used to discover and utilize the context of users and environments. The control of a RSAR system involves several issues from different technical fields such as classical inverse kinematics of motors where projector-camera pairs are mounted, inverse projection problems to find appropriate internal/external parameters of projectors and cameras, and image warping in graphics pipeline to compensate the kinematic constraints. In this paper, we investigate various control issues related to a RSAR system and propose basic approaches to handle them, specially focused on the prototype RSAR system developed in ETRI.
Selectivity estimation of queries not only provides useful information to the query processing optimization but also may give users with a preview of processing results. In this paper, we investigate the problem of selectivity estimation in the context of a spatial dataset. Although several techniques have been proposed in the literature to estimate spatial query result sizes, most of those techniques still have some drawback in the case that a large amount of memory is required to retain accurate selectivity. To eliminate the drawback of estimation techniques in previous works, we propose a new method called MW Histogram. Our method is based on two techniques: (a) MinSkew partitioning algorithm that processes skewed spatial datasets efficiently (b) Wavelet transformation which compression effect is proven. We evaluate our method via real datasets. With the experimental result, we prove that the MW Histogram has the ability of providing estimates with low relative error and retaining the similar estimates even if memory space is small.
Intelligent Space (iSpace) is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment comes to have intelligence. In iSpace, the locations of multiple humans and other objects are obtained and tracked by using multiple camera and color-based method. In addition, we describe a context-aware information system which is based on Spatial-Knowledge-Tags (SKT). SKT system enables humans to access information and data by using spatial location of human and stored information in storage. The proposed tracking method is applied to the intelligent environment and its performance is verified by the experiments.
In brain computer interface (BCI) system, the most important part is classification of human thoughts in order to translate into commands. The more accuracy result in classification the system gets, the more effective BCI system is. To increase the quality of BCI system, we proposed to reduce noise and artifact from the recording data to analyzing data. We used auditory stimuli instead of visual ones to eliminate the eye movement, unwanted visual activation, gaze control. We applied independent component analysis (ICA) algorithm to purify the sources which constructed the raw signals. One of the most famous spatial filter in BCI context is common spatial patterns (CSP), which maximize one class while minimize the other by using covariance matrix. ICA and CSP also do the filter job, as a raw filter and refinement, which increase the classification result of linear discriminant analysis (LDA).
