Comparison of Two Methods for Determining Initial Radius in the Sphere Decoder (스피어 디코더에서 초기 반지름을 결정하는 두 가지 방법에 대한 비교 연구)

  • The initial radius of sphere decoder has great effect on the bit error rate performance and computational complexity. Until now, it has been determined either by considering the statistical property of channel or by using of MMSE solution. The initial radius obtained by using statistical property of channel includes the lattice point corresponding to the transmit signal vector with very high probability. The method using MMSE solution first calculates out the MMSE solution of the received signal, then maps the hard decision of this solution into the received signal space, and finally the distance between the mapped point and the received signal is selected as the initial radius of the sphere decoding. In this paper, we derive a simple equation for initial radius selection which uses statistical property of channel and compare it with the method using MMSE solution. To compare two methods we define new metric 'Tightness'. Through the simulation, we observe that in low and moderate SNR region, the method using MMSE solution provides more complexity reduction for decoding while in high SNR region, the method using channel statistics is better.

  • As electronic mails are being widely used for facility and speedness of information communication, as the amount of spam mails which have malice and advertisement increase and cause lots of social and economic problem. A number of approaches have been proposed to alleviate the impact of spam. These approaches can be categorized into pre-acceptance and post-acceptance methods. Post-acceptance methods include bayesian filters, collaborative filtering and e-mail prioritization which are based on words or sentances. But, spammers are changing those characteristics and sending to avoid filtering system. In the case of Korean, the abnormal usages can be much more than other languages because syllable is composed of chosung, jungsung, and jongsung. Existing formal expressions and learning algorithms have the limits to meet with those changes promptly and efficiently. So, we present an methods for recognizing Korean abnormal language(Koral) to improve accuracy and efficiency of filtering system. The method is based on syllabic than word and Smith-waterman algorithm. Through the experiment on filter keyword and e-mail extracted from mail server, we confirmed that Koral is recognized exactly according to similarity level. The required time and space costs are within the permitted limit.

A study on 3-D indoor localization based on visible-light communication considering the inclination and azimuth of the receiver (수신기의 기울기 및 방위를 고려한 가시광 통신기반 3차원 실내 위치인식에 대한 연구)

  • Indoor localization based on visible-light communication using the received signal strength intensity (RSSI) has been widely studied because of its high accuracy compared with other wireless localization methods. However, because the RSSI can vary according to the inclination and azimuth of the receiver, a large error can occur, even at the same position. In this paper, we propose a visible-light communication-based 3-D indoor positioning algorithm using the Gauss-Newton technique in order to reduce the errors caused by the change in the inclination of the receiver. The proposed system reduces the amount of computations by selecting the initial position of the receiver through the linear least-squares method (LSM), which is applied to the RSSIs, and improves the position accuracy by applying the Gauss-Newton technique to the 3-D nonlinear model that contains the RSSIs acquired by the changes in the azimuth and inclination of the receiver. In order to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm in an indoor space with dimensions of $6{\times}6{\times}3m$ where 16 LED lights are installed, we compare and analyze the errors of the conventional linear LSM-based trilateration technique and the proposed algorithm according to the changes in the inclination and azimuth of the receiver. The experimental results show that the location accuracy of the proposed algorithm is improved by 82.5% compared to the conventional LSM-based trilateration technique.

One-dimensional Hydraulic Modeling of Open Channel Flow Using the Riemann Approximate Solver I : Model Development (Riemann 해법을 이용한 1차원 개수로 수리해석Ⅰ: 모형 개발)

  • The object of this study is to develop the model that solves the numerically difficult problems in hydraulic engineering and to demonstrate the applicability of this model by means of various test examples, such as, verification in the gradually varied unsteady condition, three steady flow problems with the change of bottom slope with exact solution, and frictional bed with analytical solution. The governing equation of this model is the integral form of the Saint-Venant equation satisfying the conservation laws, and finite volume method with the Riemann solver is used. The evaluation of the mass and momentum flux with the HLL Riemann approximate solver is executed. MUSCL-Hancock scheme is used to achieve the second order accuracy in space and time. This study introduce the new and simple technique to discretize the source terms of gravity and hydrostatic pressure force due to longitudinal width variation for the balance of quantity between nonlinear flux and source terms. The results show that the developed model's implementation is accurate, robust and highly stable in various flow conditions with source terms, and this model is reliable for one-dimensional applications in hydraulic engineering.

Analysis of the Thermal Environment Characteristics of Thatched Roof for Eco-friendly Rural Housing Development -Focused on the Neolithic Thatched Roof Dugout Hut- (농촌 친환경 주거 개발을 위한 이엉지붕 열환경 특성 분석 -신석기시대 이엉지붕 움집을 대상으로-)

  • Due to the development of civilization, the humans is privileged the rich of technologies for housing thermal environment. But, this kind of technological development caused enough trouble of energy excessive consumption. For solve this problem, many researchers strive to exploit the low energy sustainable techniques. For such a reason, the eco-friendly techniques of vernacular house are resurfacing. These traditional techniques are applied to a development of eco-friendly modern housing. They are no longer recognized as outdated products. On this context, this study proposes an scientific analysis on the thermal environment characteristics of Neolithic thatched-roof dugout hut(Um house). So far the several studies have been carried out in viewpoint of the history and structural compositions of the Um house which has been used as the normal housing for about 1000 years in the Neolithic era, however the thermal characteristics analysis of the Um house has never been studied. Um house is not a housing which has been composed by the scientific analysis or architectural design technology, but evolved empirically over a long period. This study on the thermal environment characteristics of Um house would provide basic information for the development of korean eco-friendly rural housing by korean climate characteristics. In this study, the thermal environmental characteristics of the Um house in the Neolithic era was analysed experimentally. The results of this study could be summarized as follows: 1. When the solar insolation and the ambient temperature in the daytime were $420W/m^2$ and $17^{\circ}C$ respectively, the surface temperature of the Um house roof covered with the rice straw was $37^{\circ}C$ and that in the roof $32^{\circ}C$, and in the conditions above the air temperature in the room was $15^{\circ}C$. 2. When the ambient relative humidity was 40%, that in the room of the Um house 50%, and at the ambient relative humidity of 90~100%, that in the room was 60%. 3. Through the experimental analysis, it was verified that the enthalpy and relative humidity is in an inverse relationship. 4. In general the comfort degree in the living space is changed with the seasonal climate, also in this study, the comfort degree in the room of the Um house in October and November was higher than that in May and June.

  • Recently, many researchers have given high attention to the semantic web services based on the semantic web technology While existing web services use the XML-based web service description language, WSDL, semantic web services are utilizing web service description languages such as DAML-S in ontology languages. The researchers of semantic web services are generally focused on web service discovery, web service invocation, web service selection and composition, and web service execution monitoring. Especially, the semantic web service discovery as the basis to accomplish the ultimate semantic web service environment has some different properties from previous information discovery areas. Hence, it is necessary to develop the storage system and discovery mechanism appropriate to the semantic well description languages. Even though some related systems have been developed, they are not appropriate for the embedded system environment, such as intelligent robotics, in which there are some limitations on memory disk space, and computing power In this regard, we in the embedded system environment have developed the document management system which efficiently manages the web service documents described by DAML-S for the purpose of the semantic web service discovery, In addition, we address the distinguishing characteristics of the system developed in this paper, compared with the related researches.

CNVDAT: A Copy Number Variation Detection and Analysis Tool for Next-generation Sequencing Data (CNVDAT : 차세대 시퀀싱 데이터를 위한 유전체 단위 반복 변이 검출 및 분석 도구)

  • Copy number variations(CNVs) are a recently recognized class of human structural variations and are associated with a variety of human diseases, including cancer. To find important cancer genes, researchers identify novel CNVs in patients with a particular cancer and analyze large amounts of genomic and clinical data. We present a tool called CNVDAT which is able to detect CNVs from NGS data and systematically analyze the genomic and clinical data associated with variations. CNVDAT consists of two modules, CNV Detection Engine and Sequence Analyser. CNV Detection Engine extracts CNVs by using the multi-resolution system of scale-space filtering, enabling the detection of the types and the exact locations of CNVs of all sizes even when the coverage level of read data is low. Sequence Analyser is a user-friendly program to view and compare variation regions between tumor and matched normal samples. It also provides a complete analysis function of refGene and OMIM data and makes it possible to discover CNV-gene-phenotype relationships. Study on the Estimation of Long Life Cycle and Reliability Tests for Epoxy Insulation Busway System (에폭시 박막 절연형 버스웨이 시스템의 장기 수명 및 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The use of electric cable was limited due to the installation time and large space as the increase of power demand and load quantity in side line. In order to solve these problems, the application of busway system which can supply the large current was increasing. But it was lack of methods of performance tests to evaluate the reliability and results of test for busway system. In this paper, we presented items to evaluate the reliability test for epoxy coated busway system with reference to IEC 61349-6. In addition, we proposed items to evaluate the reliability and long term life cycle test for the epoxy coated busway system. The combined acceleration deterioration test that reflects actual conditions of the survey as much as possible was conducted considering both thermal and electrical stresses. The deterioration condition was selected to satisfy fifty years life expectation and the insulation performance verification test of the busway system confirmed the long term life prediction. Furthermore, as test items for reliability assessment of compliance with the environment for the use of temperature, humidity and load current where busway system was installed, thermal overload test, water immersion test, cold shock temperature test and thermal cycle test were performed. And we examined changes in characteristics and abnormality after tests. From results, the test items presented to evaluate performance and reliability of the epoxy insulated busway system were confirmed to be appropriate in this paper, and the performance of the product was also confirmed to be excellent for reliability tests.

Method to Objectify Individual Factors of GIS-based Real Estate Appraisal (GIS를 이용한 감정평가의 개별요인 객관화 방안)

  • Real estate appraisal methods include profit-based, cost-based and comparison-based measures. The purpose of this study is to scientifically quantify the comparison-based method mostly utilized in valuating real estate property among the appraisal methods. The comparison method is to estimate the value of target property from other previously-traded property cases by comparing and adjusting their temporal gap, spatial gap and space-time gap. In appraisal practices, this comparison method is used generally for land property. If based on previous transactions; prices, time point of transaction, region and individual factors were analyzed to valuate. If based on official land values; official value, time point, region and individual factors are analyzed. Of these, the individual factors are an important process of comparing individual characteristics where real estate appraisers' subjective assessment could intervene. Though appraisers, as experts make generally precise assessment, still, it is a subjective judgment open to difference between appraisers themselves, causing disputes from time to time. In this recognition, the study seeks to quantify such a subjective assessment of appraisers by running GIS analysis on individual factor components including street condition, access condition;and plotting condition.

Study on the Crystal Phases of $Ca_{1.5-1.5x}Bi_xVO_4$ Compositions by Bi Substitution (Bi 치환에 따른 $Ca_{1.5-1.5x}Bi_xVO_4$ 조성 화합물의 결정상에 관한 연구)

  • The phase change upon Bi substitutions in $Ca_{1.5-1.5x}Bi_xVO_4$ has been systematically studied. The x value corresponding to the maximum Bi substitutions reades to 0.14 and in this range($x{\leq}0.14$), the single phasic $Ca_3(VO_4)_2$ can be identified. However, a new phase of $BiV_{1.025}O_{4+x}$ is apparently formed along with the $Ca_3(VO_4)_2$ phase, when the x value exceeds beyond 0.18 ($x{\geq}0.18$). As a result of Bi substitution in the range of x$\leq$0.14, the interplanar space($d_300$) becomes larger as the Bi content increases. Since the composition of single phasic $Ca_{1.29}Bi_{0.14}VO_4$ (x=O.14) is, however, incongruent melting one, no definite melting point could be observed. But we found that its solidus temperature was 1182$^{\circ}C$ by DTA analysis.
