매설된 선배열 음향센서를 이용한 표적 위치추정 성능향상 기법 연구 (A Study to improve a Target Localization Performance using Passive Line Arrays buried in the Seabed)

  • The target localization using the line arrays buried in the seabed is a difficult problem due to the complex sea bottom characteristics and need to compensate the wave propagation effect to localize the target accurately Sound speed mismatch in the seabed causes a bias in the target bearing estimation and induces the localization error. In this paper we describe a target localization method with improved accuracy of target bearing and localization by calibration the sound speed in the seabed. The proposed algorithm is verified through the ocean data.

Look-up table을 이용한 수중 음향파 거리 추정 알고리즘 (Ranging Algorithm of Underwater Acoustic Wave with Look-up Table)

  • 본 논문에서는 수중 위치 추적(Underwater Localization)을 위한 수평거리 추정 방식 중 음선의 각도 변화를 이용하는 방식을 개선하는 Look-up Table(LUT)를 사용하는 방식을 제안하고 기존 방식과의 연산속도 및 수평거리 오차를 비교한다. LUT를 사용하여 추정하는 방식은 수신기의 음파 도달 시간(Time of arrival : ToA)과 깊이에 따른 Sound Speed Profile(SSP)을 이용하여 만들어진 수평 거리-ToA table을 이용한다. 결과적으로, 음선의 각도 변화를 이용하는 방식에 비해 수평거리 추정오차는 다소 증가하게 되지만, 수신된 ToA에 대응되는 수평거리를 사용한다는 점에서 실시간으로 각도 변화를 추정하는 기존방식에 비하여 매우 빠른 처리가 가능하다.

도루묵의 체내 임피던스 및 유영자세각 평가 (Estimation of swimming angle and body impedance of sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus))

  • Density and sound speed contrasts (g and h, respectively), and swimming angle were measured for sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) without swimbladder. The density contrast was measured by the volume displacement method while the sound speed contrast was measured by the acoustic measurements of travel time (time-of-flight method). The swimming angle was measured by dividing it into daytime, nighttime, daytime feeding and nighttime feeding. The g was 1.001 to 1.067 with an average (± standard deviation) of 1.032 (± 0.017), and the h was 1.007 to 1.022 with an average (± standard deviation) of 1.015 (± 0.003). The swimming angles (mean ± standard deviation) were 16.8 ± 10.3° during the daytime, 1.9 ± 12.3° during the nighttime, 30.2 ± 12.6° in the daytime feeding and 35.0 ± 13.2° in the nighttime feeding. These results will provide important parameters input to calculate theoretical scattering models for estimating the acoustic target strength of sandfish.

수중음향채널에서 Sparse 채널 추정 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sparse Channel Estimation Technique in Underwater Acoustic Channel)

  • 천해에서 음파 전달은 매우 복잡하며, sparse한 전달 특성을 갖는다. 이러한 환경에서 수중음향통신 시스템의 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 채널을 추정하기 위한 여러 방법들이 연구되었다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 sparse-aware LMS(Least Mean Square) 알고리즘들보다 빠른 수렴속도를 갖는 LMS 기반 채널 추정 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법은 $L_p$-norm LMS 알고리즘과 soft decision 과정을 결합한 것이다. 모의실험은 실제 해상 실험을 통하여 얻은 수중 음속 데이터를 바탕으로 수행되었다. 그 결과 제안한 방법이 기존의 방법들보다 빠른 수렴속도와 향상된 성능을 보이는 것을 확인하였다.

  • Traffic noise estimation models are useful in evaluation of the noise pollution in current circumstances. They are helpful tools for design and planning new roads and highways. Measurement of average traffic noise level is possible when traffic speed and volume are known. The objective of this study was to devise a model for prediction of highway traffic noise levels based on current traffic variables in Iran. The design of this model was to take the impact of traffic congestion into consideration and to be field tested. This study is a library research augmented by field study conducted on Saeedi Highway located south west of Tehran. The period for the field study lasted 5 days from 7-12 February, 2013. This study examined liner and non-liner methods in formulation of its model. Liner method without a fixed coefficient was the best fit for the intended model. The proposed model can serve as a decision making tool to estimate the impact of key influential factors on sound pressure levels in urban areas in Iran.

  • A Systematic approach to estimate an interior noise level for a railway passenger car has been proposed. The prediction is based on the sound power values obtained from measured sound pressure lever, when a high speed train runs at 300km/hr. Then, the exterior sound pressure value is calculated by using the BEM code. After that, an interior sound lever is estimated, considering the transmission loss of body structures and absorption effect inside of the train. In this application, the estimated noise level is between 66 dBA and 74 dBA. The proposed approach could be useful for rough estimation of a noise level inside a passenger car at the design stage, a]though the method has some limitation to be implement for a general situation.

  • In this paper, a new method to estimate stress status in metal nondestructively by using nonlinear dependency of sound speed on stress is proposed. For the purpose, equivalent nonlinear elastic constants up to fourth-order are introduced and a new characteristic parameter given as a function of these constants is presented. And a concrete system to measure the characteristic parameter is constructed by electromagnetic pumping wave and ultrasonic probing wave system. Some experimental results for Al alloy showed that the estimation of stress status in metal is possible by the proposed method.

  • Although the identification of a moving noise source is important in reducing the source power of the transport systems such as airplane or high speed train, the direct measurement of the frequency characteristics is usually difficult due to wind noise when using a microphone running with that noise source. On the other hand the motion of a source causes the frequency characteristics of the pass-by sound measured at a fixed point to be distorted that it is quite difficult to identify the original source characteristics. In this study the relationship between the spectra of the source and the pass-by sound signal is analyzed for a source moving at a constant velocity. The effects of the speed and the frequency characteristics of the source on the pass-by noise spectrum are investigated through numerical simulations.

Real-time Sound Localization Using Generalized Cross Correlation Based on 0.13 ㎛ CMOS Process

  • In this paper, we present the design and implementation of real-time sound localization based on $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Time delay of arrival (TDOA) estimation was used to obtain the direction of the sound signal. The sound localization chip consists of four modules: data buffering, short-term energy calculation, cross correlation, and azimuth calculation. Our chip achieved real-time processing speed with full range ($360^{\circ}$) using three microphones. Additionally, we developed a dedicated sound localization circuit (DSLC) system for measuring the accuracy of the sound localization chip. The DSLC system revealed that our chip gave reasonably accurate results in an experiment that was carried out in a noisy and reverberant environment. In addition, the performance of our chip was compared with those of other chip designs.

SAVEX15 실험 해역에서 측정된 전달손실 자료를 이용한 음파 전달 조건의 변환점 추정 (Estimation of a transition point of sound propagation condition using transmission loss data measured in SAVEX15)

  • 천해 환경에서 음파 전달은 경계면에 의해 구형 분산에서 원통형 분산으로 음파 전달 조건이 전환되는데, 이 지점을 음파 전달 조건의 변환점 (transition point)이라고 정의한다. 이론적으로 거리에 따른 전달손실을 이용하여 음파 전달 조건의 변환점을 계산할 수가 있으며, 본 논문에서는 포물선 방정식 기반 음향모델을 이용하여 Pekeris 도파관에서 송 수신기가 수층의 중심에 위치한 경우 전달손실을 모의한 후 변환점을 도출하였다. 계산된 변환점은 수층과 퇴적층의 음속비로 계산된 임계각으로 추정한 임계거리와 비교, 분석되었으며, 동일한 환경에서 수층에 음향채널이 존재하는 경우와 음원 수심 변화에 따른 변환점 변동성을 확인하였다. 최종적으로 2015년 5월, 제주도 서남쪽으로 약 65 km 떨어진 SAVEX15(Shallow Water Acoustic Variability EXperiment 2015) 실험에서 획득한 천해 환경에서의 거리에 따른 저 중주파수 음파 전달 실험의 전달손실 자료를 이용하여 실험 해역에서의 음파 전달 조건 변환점을 도출하였으며, 이를 실험해역의 해양환경과 비교를 통하여 음전달 특성을 파악하였다.
