입체음장재현을 위한 멀티채널시스템 (A Multichannel System for Virtual 3-D Sound Rendering)

  • Currently a multichannel system for virtual 3-D sound rendering is under development. Robust sound image formation and smooth real time interactivity are main design Points. The system utilizes VBAP algorithm as virtual sound image positioning. Overall system settings can be easily configured. We developed software, RIMA. as a driving Program of the system. At this stage, it is possible to position virtual sound images at arbitrary positions in three-dimensional space. The characteristics of the system are discussed. The system has been applied to the KAIST Bicycle Simulator to generate the virtual sound field.

  • The purpose of this study is that developing the index which evaluate sound quality of door latch and improving its sound quality through that results. For that, various operating sound of door latch was used for jury test. Loudness and sharpness related metrics are dominant in sound quality index we developed. This research investigate the main transfer path of its operating sound through sound field visualization and get conclusion that could reduce the impact sound of door latch. Therefore, we could verify sound quality improvement of modified product by using sound quality index.

  • The case study for this research is a middle school music room located in Iksan City, Korea. Although the room is used for teaching music, indiscreet sound-absorbing materials were applied within the space. Accordingly, a number of difficulties have been experienced when using the room. During a music lesson, the sound-volume is inadequate for music appreciation, while the music performance has an arid sound due to an insufficient echo. In order to control the obstructive factors resulting from a short Reverberation Time, the acoustic factor is optimized in this study by using an Acoustic Simulation, following an arrangement of Acoustic Design. A Psycho-acoustics Experiment was conducted using the Auralizational Technique, whereby the Virtual Acoustic Field can be experienced at the design stage.

간이 차음시험장치 개발 (Development of a Simplified Test Apparatus for Measuring Sound Transmission Loss)

  • This study deals with the performance of a simplified test apparatus for measurement of sound insulation of panels. In order to investigate its performance, results from experiment and theory of the sound transmission loss for single and double panels are compared. Comparative results show that in evaluation of the sound insulation performance, the test apparatus has a cumbersome problem at the low frequency region, i.e. below 315 ㎐, presumably because of the poor diffuse sound field in the chambers. Meanwhile at the high frequency, it shows a considerable results comparable to the theoretical prediction. One of the objective of this study that compares measured results between a real reverberation chamber and a simplified test apparatus, by using a specimen of a sandwich panel. It shows qualitatively resonable agreement from which one can find a potential to provide a design tool.

방음벽 안전을 위한 기준 조사 및 분석 (Investigation and Analysis of Regulations for the Safety of the Sound Barrier)

  • For the noise reduction measures in a construction field or near the traffic line receiver is often the most economic measure in order to exclude the propagated sound. The dimension of the barrier is decided by the noise and construction design, and the constructive quality of a soundproof panel shall be secured in accordance with KS F4770 to guarantee the safety of sound barriers. In this paper the problems included in the KS F4770-1 that is the regulation for the metallic sound barrier of the absorption type are identified and it is suggested what to be corrected or improved. Through a series of the analyses, conclusions were reached that it is required to improve test methods in KS F4770-1 as well as to break down test loads for building more cost-effective sound barrier.

스텝과 사운드의 정량적 감성반응 분석에 관한 연구 (The study on Quantitative Analysis of Emotional Reaction Related with Step and Sound)

  • 디지털정보기기의 등장은 정보의 대량생성과 대량소비라는 사회 혁명적 요소와 더불어, '기능을 위한 종속관계의 형태소멸' '유기능 무형태(宥機能 無形態)' 라는, 디자인 분야의 새로운 패러다임 형성의 원인이 되고 있다. 이러한 관점에서의 디자인 행위는 그 관심이 시각적 대상(對象)에서 벗어나 인간과 기기(器機)사이의 '관계'에 집중되고 있으며, 그 결과 디자인의 감성적 요소가 접목된 감성인터페이스라는 새로운 분야가 형성되었다. 본 논문의 목적은 멀티미디어 데이터의 검색에 있어서, 이러한 감성인터페이스를 활용할 수 있는 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 효과음과 걸음걸이(step)이를 연구대상으로 하여, 실험에서 수집된 감성어 사이의 유사성을 수량적으로 계측-분석한 후 시각화하는 것을 주된 연구방법으로 취하였다. 감성연구에 있어서 개인적인 견해 및 청각정보와 걸음걸이의 특징, 사례연구 등을 이론적 배경으로 제시하였고, 음에 관한 실험내용은 본인의 선행연구내용을 인용하였다. 걸음걸이에 대해서는, 자극에 대한 감성반응치를 수량화이론 1류를 이용한 회귀식으로 추출함으로써 걸음걸이의 물리적 요소와 감성반응 사이의 관계를 정량적으로 정리하고자 했다. 연구결과를 응용한 프로토타입의 제안은 검색환경과 사용성 평가에 대한 구체적 연구를 진행 한 후, 이어지는 연구에서 제안 할 예정이다.

  • Due to rapid progress in the performance of high-end computers, numerical prediction of fluid flow and flow-induced sound is expected to become a vital tool for aero- and hydro- dynamic design of various flow-related products. This presentation focuses on the applications of large-scale numerical simulations to complex engineering problems with a particular emphasis placed on the low-speed flows. Flow field computations are based on a large eddy simulation that directly computes all active eddies in the flow and models only those eddies responsible for energy dissipations. The sound generated from low-speed turbulent flows are computed either by direct numerical simulation or by decoupled methods, according to whether or not the feedback effects of the generated sound onto the source flow field can be neglected. Several numerical examples are presented in order to elucidate the present status of such computational methods and discussion on the future prospects will also be given.

  • Severe fork-lift truck noise is annoying to an operator as well as one of the noise pollution elements. This paper presents the noise contribution analysis of a cabin type fork-lift truck to identify the major sources and its usage to reduce the interior noise level. The methodologies for this work are sound field analysis, sound intensity test, insertion loss test of duct system and etc. An effective method to suppress interior noise level of fork-lift truck and design guides are suggested.

  • In the casting industry field, a lot of researches have been carried out to maximize soundness and productivity and improve quality of mass produced products. The researches on the optimum mould design by using computer simulation have achieved a lot of accomplishments in the die-casting process especially. Their results are utilized to mass-produce sound products in their field. But there are some difficulties to use the simulation in order to make the design of product and mould. In general, repetitive calculations of computer simulation require much analyzing time in order to make sound design of them. Another difficulty is that only expertise technicians can analyze results of the simulation. In order to solve such a problem, we are building mould design optimization system which consists of knowledge-based module, simulation, optimization module and interactive modeler(it is based on the commercial modeler). By using and interacting between these modules of that system, we can easily make an optimum design of mould and construct the database. This study introduce the general process of the system and connection method between the modules is mentioned above and some examples to apply it to real product.
