Increased use of software and complexity of software functions, as well as shortened software quality evaluation periods, have increased the importance and necessity for automation of software testing. Automating software testing by using machine learning not only minimizes errors in manual testing, but also allows a speedier evaluation. Research on machine learning in automated software testing has so far focused on solving special problems with algorithms, leading to difficulties for the software developers and testers, in applying machine learning to software testing automation. This paper, proposes a new machine learning framework for software testing automation through related studies. To maximize the performance of software testing, we analyzed and categorized the machine learning algorithms applicable to each software test phase, including the diverse data that can be used in the algorithms. We believe that our framework allows software developers or testers to choose a machine learning algorithm suitable for their purpose.
A URC, which is a Ubiquitous Robot Companion, provides services to users in ubiquitous computing environments and has advantage of simplifying robot's hardware and software by distributing the complicated functionality of robots to other system. In this paper, we propose SOWL, which is a software architecture for URC robots and a mixed word of SOMAR and CAWL. SOWL keeps the advantages of URC and it also has the loosely-coupled characteristics. Moreover it makes it easy to develop of URC robot software. The proposed architecture is composed of 4 layers: device software, robot software, robot application, and end user layer. Developers of the each layer is able to build software suitable for their requirements by combining software modules in the lower layer. SOWL consists of SOMAR and CAWL engine. SOMAR, which is a middleware for the execution of device software and robot software, is based on service-oriented architecture(SOA) for robot software. CAWL engine is a system to process CAWL which is a context-aware workflow language. SOWL is able to provide a layered architecture for the execution of a robot software. It also makes it possible for developers of the each layer to build module-based robot software.

In accordance with the growing importance of software in computer systems, software quality and performance has become a hot issue in all computer-related fields and businesses. But the measurement and evaluation of software quality still poses a problem, due to the different viewpoints of software developers and users. This study attempts to combine the external characteristics of quality representing the viewpoint of users, and the internal characteristics representing the viewpoint of developers of quality. In order to do this, this study provides multiple models which select the appropriate internal characteristics which reflect user requirements from earlier phases of development. The goal of this study is to enhance the applicability of 40 internal characteristics of ISO 9126 to the models.

In software development, the quality of a product often depends on whether its developers can rapidly find and contribute to the proper tasks. Currently, the word data of projects to which newcomers have previously contributed are mainly utilized to find appropriate source files in an ongoing project. However, because of the vocabulary gap between software projects, the accuracy of source file identification based on information retrieval is not guaranteed. In this paper, we propose a novel source file identification method to reduce the vocabulary gap between software projects. The proposed method employs DBPedia Spotlight to identify proper source files based on semantic similarity between source files of software projects. In an experiment based on the Spring Framework project, we evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method in the identification of contributable source files. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve better accuracy than the existing method based on comparison of word vocabularies.
When the developers develop the software, the cost and time of the software development can be reduced by using blocks that are implemented previously. We call these implemented blocks components. They provide only the interfaces of component to developers, while the detailed infernal information is being hidden. The components can be used to develop large applications fast and easily. Developers use the black-boxed components that the internal details of components are invisible. But, Developers want the properties and workflows of components to be modified. To do this, the customization technique is needed. The existing customization techniques are limited in the customization of component properties. In this paper, it proposes the technique that can change the workflow of component as well as properties In the business point of view. In the existing workflow customization technique, which is called white box component, the internal details of component should be understood by developers and should be modified in code level. In this paper, we propose a customization technique which using the component interface in black box form only. This customization technique can be used more generally in a business field.

Integrated development environment (IDE) plays an important role in reducing the developm ent time, thereby improving software development productivity. In recent years, ubiquitous sensor networks (USNs) have become increasingly popular. However their application software is developed mostly using command-line-based tools. Such a development process is not only likely to be error-prone but also inconvenient to debug errors. This paper describes a novel IDE for USN application developers called Nano Esto that provides a single, consistent, and integrated environment for building and executing USN applications. The Nano Esto helps the developers edit and cross-compile source code and download the executable image to the program memory of sensor nodes with just a few button clicks. It also provides support for configuring an application-specific kernel, simulating a wireless sensor network, and estimating power consumption in each sensor node. Currently, Nano Esto runs on Linux as well as on Windows with the same look and feel.

In recent years, the functions added ta an embedded system have grown various and complex in most parts of the applications. Embedded software comes to include more functions and is getting bigger. Therefore it is getting difficult for software developers to keep the development time to market on time. This leads to a need for adequate design and test technique for embedded software. In this paper, we propose a software architecture style for embedded software. It facilitates the composition of reusable functions and helps developers reduce development time. We also propose a test method and tools for embedded software running on target systems.
Software visualization can assist developers to understand a software system and change its code. The recent development of bottom-up visualization tools demonstrates the advantages by revealing the code that is directly related to a software evolution task. However, the information provided by these tools is limited to the code already investigated by the developers in that task session. To broaden the scope and provide the code information that developers should explore, we propose to present the latest revision of a software system via a class diagram. When a developer clicks on a button, the proposed tool reveals the code changes committed to a configuration management system, and facilitates the understanding of code changes. We also conduct case studies illustrating the advantages of the proposed tool.

There has been rising demand within the South Korean government and among various industries in recent years on the need for strengthening the competitiveness of the software industry, which they highlight as being a core element for national competitiveness. This strategy would require enhancing the job competency of software developers. This study's results show that computational thinking (CT), which is one of the more creative solutions to the problem, has a positive effect on the enhancement of software developers' job competency. Furthermore, the study finds that the software development tasks of simulation, algorithms and procedures, and parallelization (in that order) serve as influential elements for software developers, which differs from previous studies' findings. The South Korean government thus should emphasize education in these areas in order to enhance the nation's job competence. Because simulation, especially, has the greatest influence among these areas, there is a particular need to strengthen that area.

As Open Source Software(OSS) recently invigorates, many companies actively use the OSSes in their business software. With such OSS invigoration, our web application is developed in order to provide the safety in using the OSSes, and update the information on the new vulnerabilities and the patches at all times by crawling the web pages of the relevant OSS home pages and the managing organizations of the vulnerabilities. By providing the updated information, our application helps the OSS users and developers to be aware of such security issues, and gives them to work in the safer environment from security risks. In addition, our application can be used as a security platform to greatly contribute to preventing potential security incidents not only for companies but also for individual developers.
