The activities of general physicians (GPs) in health subcenters and their competency for clinical skills were assessed to develop a scheme to improve the training program. One hundred-twenty GPs in southern four provinces (Kyungpook, Kyungnam, Chunpook, Chunnam) were randomly selected and 97 were interviewed between January 9 and February 10, 1984. Of the 97 GPs, 86 provided all the information we requested. Average number of patient visits per health subcenter in a day was 30-40 in the demonstration project area for the class II medical insurance whereas it was 3-4 visits in other area. The interviewees were asked to rate their competency in 63 clinical skills. The skills in which over 50% of the interviewees rated themselves competent were only 12 items including IM injection, IV injection, wound dressing, etc. Less than 10% of the interviewees rated themselves competent in such skills as maternal health care, emergency medical care, preventive and promotive health services. Most part of the training program of the NIH for the GPs were not applicable to their field work as the training contents were unrealistic. Clinical training at a local general hospital was of great help in 38.8% and the rest of training was not much helpful as the training was inadequate due to lack of trainer or indifference of the trainer. For more effective training of the GPs, the training program of the NIH should be modified to be more realistic and utilize competent field workers as the instructors. It may be more effective if the training is carried out at several local centers. Ideal length of the clinical training for the GPs is 4 months. A pocketbook should be developed that includes specific skills to master during the clinical training and require the trainer to confirm the achievement. The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs should provide the training hospitals with a training guideline and evaluate the training activities and make sure that the training hospital has specialist for each of the 4 major clinical departments. The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs should provide the GPs with a continuing education to assist the problem solving in the field and motivate them to actively carry out the health program. A province may be divided into several regions and a supervisory committee may be organized with specialists in each region. The committee may hold a meeting for the GPs periodically and respond to the specific questions of the GPs by mail.
This study investigated how music therapists perceive the professionalism of the profession. A total of 98 certified music therapists completed the online survey for a 46.7% response rate, and 78 questionnaires were included in the analysis after excluding incomplete responses. The results of this study demonstrated that music therapists show a high level of standards for music therapy professionalism in general. Meanwhile, the respondents gave their lowest rating on the perception of their occupation as a social service addressing the needs of society. The majority of respondents rated the level of their professionalism as high and they tended to identify individual competency as the most important factor. Also, there were significant differences in perceived professionalism depending on the length of clinical practice and level of education. These results indicate that the quality of training may contribute to a high level of perception on professionalism. Also, lower levels of perception on social aspects of the professionalism support the need for continuing education to broaden the understanding of professionalism. Given the importance of professionalism in enhancing the quality of care for clients and expanding the profession, further studies were suggested to increase understanding of the music therapy professionalism and propose strategies for maintaining the professionalism of music therapists.
The purpose of this research was to investigate ways of restructuring key competencies (KCs) in preparation for a revision of Korean science curriculum. Recently a number of countries have reformed their curricular using competencies as a key element because they believe that competencies-based curriculum helps students build up the necessary skills to live in the future society. Through literature reviews, in-depth interviews with experts and teachers, expert meetings, Delphi methods, and surveys with teachers, three major categories of KCs emerged as follows: Character competencies, Intellectual competencies, and Social competencies. For each major category, its definition, characteristics and teachers' comments are discussed. The specific components of KCs for each major category and implementing KCs should be determined at the subject- and teacher-level based on teacher professionalism. In the conclusion section, we suggested a couple of important points that deserve readers' attention when we reconstruct science curriculum by incorporating three major categories of KCs. When we develop a science curriculum in the future, we need to include three major categories of KCs, and set up KCs as a minimum set of goals for all students. We need to remember that specific components of KCs for each major category and linkage among KCs may vary depending on science topics and objectives.
Globally, the change in higher education is gradually moving toward a trend that seeks a change in innovative higher education through the revitalization of digital-based education. Accordingly, this study designed a customized education model based on e-learning that can be used in undergraduate education and development of lifelong vocational skills. The use of online learning platforms and the expansion of education are major factors that change the overall higher education system as the form and content of curriculum changes around the world. In order to establish a customized education model using online learning platform, this study analyzed major overseas advanced education cases and selected the basic direction of customized learning as personalized learning, competency based learning, and training for talents leading the 4th Industrial Revolution. Then, FGI was conducted for undergraduate and lifelong vocational ability development experts. As a result, a customized education model using an online learning platform was derived from a degree-type model available in undergraduate education and a non-degree-type model available in the field of lifelong vocational ability development, and each operation strategy was suggested.
This study aims to analyze online news articles to identify social issues related to patient safety and compare the changes in these issues before and after the implementation of the Patient Safety Act. This study performed text mining through the R program, wherein 7,600 online news articles were collected from January 1, 2010, to March 5, 2020, and examined using keyword analysis, topic modeling, and word co-occurrence network analysis. A total of 2,609 keywords were categorized into 8 topics: "medical practice", "medical personnel", "infection and facilities", "comprehensive nursing service", "medicine and medical supplies", "system development and establishment for improvement", "Patient Safety Act" and "healthcare accreditation". The study revealed that keywords such as "patient safety awareness", "infection control" and "healthcare accreditation" appeared before the implementation of the Patient Safety Act. Meanwhile, keywords such as "patient safety culture". and "administration and injection" appeared after the act's implementation with improved ranking of importance pertaining to nursing-related terminology. Interest in patient safety has increased in the medical community as well as among the public. In particular, nursing plays an important role in improving patient safety. Therefore, the recognition of patient safety as a core competency of nursing and the persistent education of the public are vital and inevitable.
The digital divide issue is re-emerging in step with the rapid progress of digital transformation. Recently, the discussion of the digital divide is expanding to the point that the difference in digital access and use competency deepens economic and social inequality and discrimination. Notably, the phenomenon of the exclusion and alienation of the elderly from society is a serious matter to be addressed. Accordingly, this research was conducted to provide practical help in minimizing the digital divide through its understanding among the elderly. To this end, both the accomplished capital accumulated and experienced in the course of life and their attitudes toward technology in relation to digital competence capital by the elderly were examined in three dimensions. This analysis was conducted using the results of the '2020 The Report on the Digital Divide'. The target group of the analysis comprised 653 seniors aged 65 and above. As a result of the analysis, digital competence capital among the elderly was affected by both various types of accomplished capital such as educational, income, social, and emotional capital and digital device use attitude. Based on this, this study proposed measures to bridge the digital divide among the elderly.

Recently, many start-up failures occur as the number of attempts to start a business increases in a social atmosphere that encourages start-up. In particular, young entrepreneurs have a lower survival rate than general entrepreneurs because young entrepreneurs are challenging just with a simple idea to overcome the difficulties of employment while lacking prior knowledge and experience of business. Therefore, the reason for the failure of start-up is lack of preparation for start-up and lack of entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement tool to build a basic framework for entrepreneurship development and start - up preparation activities for young people. To develop an entrepreneurship measurement tool, researchers developed a preliminary question through qualitative research methods such as literature research, focus group interview, and expert verification. After that, researchers surveyed 102 entrepreneurs using quantitative research method and to verify the construct validity of the measurement tool, the final entrepreneurship measurement tool was completed through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The entrepreneurship measurement tool developed through this research process consists of 7 components and 15 measurement items. First, in the step of 'confirming entrepreneurial intention', two items of 'self-analytic competence', three items of 'ability of establishing start-up philosophy'are contained. Second, in the step of 'drawing up a start-up model', two items are contained in each category such as, 'ability of eliciting entrepreneurial idea,' 'ability of analyzing idea validity,' 'competence of planning a venture start-up model'. Third, in the step of 'planning the venture start-up,' two items are contained in each category such as, 'business-plan presentation competency,' 'ability of implementing organizational system.'. The measurement tool of entrepreneurship is meaningful as it could help young entrepreneur find out their lacking competence in preparing their start-ups and strengthen necessary competences by measuring their own entrepreneurship. Rather in the entrepreneurship education, basic data that can diagnose the entrepreneurship of young entrepreneurs is provided.
The purpose of this study was to find out what could be the cause of increasing the re-use intention for the continuous management of customers in terms of finding a strategic plan for the survival of Medium Sized Hospital To this end, a hypothesis for the direct effect verifying the structural relationship, a hypothesis for the mediating effect of attachment, and a hypothesis for the moderating effect on the hospital image were presented. The survey analysis results for customers who experienced the services of 5 Medium Sized Hospital in Gyeonggi-do were as follows. First, The results of analysis of the effect of Medium Sized Hospital customers' perceived value on reuse intention are as follows. all sub-factors of perceived value did not have a significant effect on reuse intention. This is significant in that it shows that the change occurred due to the involvement of attachment. Second, the results of examining the mediating effect of attachment in the relationship between the perceived value of small and medium hospital customers and their intention to reuse are as follows. Attachment to doctor's competency significantly mediated the relationship between quality value and reuse intention, emotional value and reuse intention, and social value and reuse intention. Significantly mediated the relationship between the provinces and the relationship between the price value and the intention to reuse. Third, hospital image significantly adjusted the relationship between quality value and medical technology competency. Based on the above results, it is necessary to establish a strategy of value perceived by customers as a strategy to increase the reuse intention of small and medium hospital customers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate community dental hygiene practice education, by verifying its effect after applying project-based learning in improving the practical and social skills of learners. A 15-week project-based community dental hygiene practice course was held for 27 senior students, who took community dental hygiene practice course in the Department of Dental Hygiene, Gangneung-Wonju National University. Twenty-seven students were composed of 4 teams. Each team selected a target group for four workplaces for adult workers to apply the oral health promotion project. The project was then planned and conducted based on a survey on the health problems confronting each group, and an evaluation was carried out after 4 weeks. From the results obtained in comparing confidence in problem solving ability, project value, teamwork competency, and community dental hygienist competence before and after course, the improvement in project value and teamwork competence scores was not statistically significant, but all four areas showed positive results. After analyzing the project actuality, learning outcomes, and project satisfaction after course results, the actuality of the project was 19.30 points, the learning achievement was 45.19 points, and the satisfaction was 19.19 points, demonstrating that the aim of achieving actual performance competence and a learning performance exceeding expectations was accomplished. After conducting an interview survey with 8 students, it was found that they had learned social skills involving problem-solving abilities and confidence, and teamwork competence such as cooperation, role responsibility, creative thinking ability, and communication skills. Community dental hygienists should be able to acquire learner-level practical skills and social skills in the community dental hygiene and practical courses, according to their competencies and job needs. It is necessary to develop a project?based systematic learning module to enable the community dental hygiene practice to operate as a subject closely related to fields in other dental hygiene departments.
This study is purposed to prepare students in theological universities so that they contribute to their faith community as well as the broader social community in future through developing a practical course model for education of character formation. Facing the challenge of a high-tech revolution being progressed globally in this period, theological seminaries as the Christian-affiliated institute of higher education see the necessity to nurture their learners' competency of holistic personality comprehending cognitive, affective, behavioral, and more spiritual maturity as well as specialty in each subject matter. This research had the following content and results. Chapter 1 brought up a subject to educational needs of the holistic character formation in the theological seminaries to meet the rapidly changing times. Chapter 2 considered the importance of character formation in the curriculum of the universities and theological seminaries in the times of high-tech revolution through the literature reviews related to. Chapter 3 clarified the elements of character education to be placed emphasis on theological seminaries and established the way of course planning. Chapter 4, using a course of Christian social education for illustration, described in order the whole process of course planning comprehending the need of planning, description of course concept, establishment and definition of learning outcomes, organization of learning experience(course content), teaching-learning activities, evaluation of learning outcome, and course improvement, which was visualized with the chart of the process of course design. Also, it provided a practical illustration of the conceptual map, an outline of content and an organization of units, and scope-sequence chart. Finally, chapter 5 gave an syllabus example in an integrative and digestive form as the course plan to be distributed to the students, which is the final result produced through the whole process of course planning. This research is intended not to present a overall curriculum planning of the university-level in the theological seminaries, but to develop a course-level curriculum focused on the formation of character. The author hope that this study would be used as a guideline in developing a course model to nurture the capability of the learners' holistic character.
