  • On this paper, we show the way of forming graph data structure via setting an edge between Korean actors if they appeared in the same movie. From this graph, we calculate the 'centralities' (which declared on this paper) for each actor, then examine distribution by ranking the actors of the centralities and analyze the change of the actor who is/was center on the graph by years. Finally, we suggest the way that sets the numerically Range limits on social group.

  • We construct product networks from the retail transaction dataset of an off-line department store. In the product networks, nodes are products, and an edge connecting two products represents the existence of co-purchases by a customer. We measure the quantities frequently used for characterizing network structures, such as the degree centrality, the closeness centrality, the betweenness centrality and the centralization. Using the quantities, gender, age, seasonal, and regional differences of the product networks were analyzed and network characteristics of each product category containing each product node were derived. Lastly, we analyze the correlations among the three centrality quantities and draw a marketing strategy for the cross-selling.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and the effect of communication as social capital, which needs to be evaluated empirically focusing on corporate reputation. Also, it tried to analyze consumers' communication network in the structural, substantial, and relational level, which is to verify how characteristics and meanings of communication network structure affect to a good corporate reputation. A survey toward 200 participants was conducted during 5 days from March 29 to April 3, 2012. Characteristics of communication network structure of a corporation with higher reputation is analyzed using the index such as degree, degree centrality, and density. The findings of the study show that a corporation with higher reputation has higher network degree, degree centrality, and density compared to a corporation with lower reputation. Consumers of a corporation with higher reputation get information from various overlapping sources. It allows them to share similar interpretation, which could elevate the degree, degree centrality, and density of network. It also proved that when the network density is high, a corporation with higher reputation can distribute information much faster and easier. Moreover, in the substantial level of social capital, product/service information network has high degree and density rather than corporate issue information network. Likewise, degree and density of information acquisition network was higher than those of information provision network. Also, this study verified the effect and relationship between the network structure characteristics and corporate loyalty in a relational level. In this way, the positive effect of the degree centrality on corporate loyalty was supported. In conclusion, as consumers share more information from overlapping sources, the degree of communication network gets higher. Throughout this network, the diffusion of information among consumers would be activated, and this confirmed that corporate reputation and corporate loyalty is closely related.

  • As the volume of internet and web contents have shown an explosive growth in recent years, lately contents recommendation system (CRS) has emerged as an important issue. Consequently, researches on contents recommendation method (CRM) for CRS have been conducted consistently. However, traditional CRMs have the limitations in that they are incapable of utilizing in web 2.0 environments where positions of content creators are important. In this paper, we suggest a novel way to recommend web contents of high quality using both degree of centrality and TF-IDF. For this purpose, we analyze TF-IDF and degree of centrality after collecting RSS and FOAF. Then we recommend contents using these two analyzed values. For the verification of the suggested method, we have developed the CRS and showed the results of contents recommendation. With the suggested idea we can analyze relations between users and contents on the entered query, and can consequently provide the appropriate contents to the user. Moreover, the implemented system we suggested in this paper can provide more reliable contents than traditional CRS because the importance of the role of content creators is reflected in the new system.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore the underlying structures of students' interaction networks to monitor network changes during the year, to verify the relationship with self-directed learning, and to identify the effect of problem-based learning on interaction and self-directed learning. Methods: A longitudinal study was designed which included 3 parts (A=25, B=27, C=26) with a total of 78 second-year nursing students from 2013 to 2014. Interaction indicators used group network centralization and density, and individual in-degree centrality. Results: Group network centralization showed mean reversion patterns, however, centralization and density showed a slight increase from 2013 to 2014 (Centralization of A part from 52.78 to 36.96, B part from 20.56 to 32.20, C part from 34.40 to 37.24; Density of A part from 0.122 to 0.123, B part from 0.111 to 0.121, C part from 0.109 to 0.121). The individual in-degree centrality is significantly correlated with self-directed learning and the correlation coefficient increased during the year (r=.274 in 2013, r=.356 in 2014, p<.001). Conclusion: Students share information more interactively during the year and the more they share the higher the scores of self-directed learning.

  • Information and communications technology facilitates collaboration among individuals by functioning as an open platform for open collaboration projects. In this regard, this study aims to understand the network characteristics of participants who contribute greatly to open collaboration by investigating the mutual cooperation network in an open source project, which represents a form of open collaboration based on social network theory. To achieve this objective, this study analyzes the network centrality of developers with a high number of commits, particularly 8,101 developers in 782 repositories in GitHub, a representative open source platform. This study also determines how the relationship between network centrality and number of commits depends on the size of a repository network and the presence of a hub. Consequently, the number of commits by developers with high degree, betweenness, and closeness centrality is increasing. Among which, betweenness centrality has the highest explanatory power. Furthermore, when a hub is present and as network size increases, the relationship between the betweenness centrality of a developer and his/her number of commits continues to grow. This study is expected to provide suggestions for the successful performance of open collaboration projects in the future.

  • This study aims to analyze and compare centrality and brokerage measures of journal citation network focusing on textmining research. The analytic sample was 193 academic articles collected from 136 KCI journals published in 2018. The journal citation network was constructed based on citation relations. The characteristics, centralities, and brokerages of network was analyzed. The journal citation network consisted 136 nodes and 413 links with directed and weight. According to the five types of centrality(out-degree, in-degree, out-closeness, in-closeness, betweenness), journals of social sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary research showed higher centrality. Social sciences, engineering and interdisciplinary research journals also showed higher brokerages as a result of brokerage analysis which identify five types of brokerage roles(coordinator, gatekeeper, representative, consultant, liaison). The centralities and brokerages of journals are positively correlated. This study suggested how to construct journal citation network from the articles focusing on certain topics. This was meaningful study in terms of conducting brokerage analysis and comparing it with centrality in the journal citation network.
