  • Today's healthcare, intelligent robots, smart home systems, and car sharing are already innovating with cutting-edge information and communication technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, the Internet of Intelligent Things, and Big data. It is deeply affecting our lives. In the factory, robots have been working for humans more than several decades (FA, OA), AI doctors are also working in hospitals (Dr. Watson), AI speakers (Giga Genie) and AI assistants (Siri, Bixby, Google Assistant) are working to improve Natural Language Process. Now, in order to understand AI, knowledge of mathematics becomes essential, not a choice. Thus, mathematicians have been given a role in explaining such mathematics that make these things possible behind AI. Therefore, the authors wrote a textbook 'Basic Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence' by arranging the mathematics concepts and tools needed to understand AI and machine learning in one or two semesters, and organized lectures for undergraduate and graduate students of various majors to explore careers in artificial intelligence. In this paper, we share our experience of conducting this class with the full contents in http://matrix.skku.ac.kr/math4ai/.

  • Smart catalyst design though novel catalyst preparation methods can improve catalytic activity of transition metals on reducible oxide supports such as titania by enhancement of metal oxide interface effects. In this work, we investigated Pt nanoparticles/titania catalysts under CO oxidation reaction by using novel preparation methods in order to enhance its catalytic activity by optimizing metal oxide interface. Arc plasma deposition (APD) and metal impregnation techniques are employed to achieve Pt metal deposition on titania supports which are prepared by multi-target sputtering and Sol-gel techniques. In order to tailor metal-support interface for catalytic CO oxidation reaction, Pt nanoparticles and thin films are deposited in varying surface coverages on sputtered titania films using APD. To assess the role of oxide support at the interface, APD-Pt is deposited on sputtered and Sol-gel prepared titania films. Lastly, characteristics of APD-Pt process are compared with Pt impregnation technique. Our results show that activity of Pt nanoparticles is improved when supported over Sol-Gel prepared titania than sputtered titania film. It is suggested that this enhanced activity can be partly ascribed to a very rough titania surface with the higher free metal surface area and higher number of sites at the interface between the metal and the support. Also, APD-Pt shows superior catalytic activity under CO oxidation as compared to Pt impregnation on sputtered titania support. XPS results show that bulk oxide is formed on Pt when deposited through impregnation and has higher proportion of oxidized Pt in the form of $Pt^{2+/4+}$ oxidation states than Pt metal. APD-Pt shows, however, mild oxidation with large proportion of active Pt metal. APD-Pt also shows trend of increasing CO oxidation activity with number of shots. The activity continues to increase with surface coverage beyond 100%, thus suggesting a very rough and porous Pt films with higher active surface metal sites due to an increased surface area available for the reactant CO and $O_2$ molecules. The results suggest a novel approach for systematic investigation into metal oxide interface by rational catalysts design which can be extended to other metal-support systems in the future.

  • An information System Audit by the recognition of a problem and suggestions for solutions for overall matters about constructing and managing information systems is needed in order to contribute to the improvement of an information system's quality and improving the performance of projects. In reality, however, the general cognition is that audit is biased by subjective opinions. For this, an auditor needs to measure the level of recognition of the usability and convenience of the technologies of automating audit by applying TAM in the information system audit, and to analyze the relationship with recognition and availability of the interested parties for the technology (tool) of the audit. By the hypothesis verification result, an auditor needs to present objective corroborative facts that back up the level of recognition and usability for the information technology in the field of audit. This study verified that the phenomenon of technology application can be explained and predicted by applying TAM in the field of audit. Through an empirical study of the recognition level of audit and contractor, the developer suggests that the audit plan stage is similar to the audit corrective action stage, but the audit action stage is different from the audit review stage. This research can verify the audit technology preferred for the availability and intention of use and usability.

  • Our society is aging rapidly. In this super-aged society, the increase in healthcare costs are considered a national problem that undermines the sustainability of social security. Various services for healthcare for the elderly have been promoted to address this. However, most of them have focused on healthcare after the outbreak of chronic diseases and lack preventive healthcare. Most of the preventive healthcare projects are only pilots. In this paper, the current status of health care services for senior citizens at home and abroad was analyzed and based on this, the limitations and improvements were analyzed to propose the establishment of IoT-based Total Silver Care Center. IoT-based Total Silver Care Center may be conveniently monitored the health status of the elderly through various sensors, medical devices, and smart bands. And based on this, it can improve the quality of nursing services through time-saving and work efficiency of nursing providers. In addition, health care interventions may be provided in a timely manner if there is a change in the health status of users. And real-time imaging systems can help overcome mental difficulties.

  • In this study, an experiment was carried out on the field applicability of tension measuring devices of the cables in cable-stayed bridges. The vibration method was used to estimate the tension of cables of cable-stayed bridge, and the mode characteristics of the cable were analyzed using a cable tension measuring device. GTDL360, NI Module, and 9 Axes Motion Sensorwere applied to estimate the cable tension of five target bridges. Numerical analysis of the five target bridges was conducted to analyze the natural frequency of the cable and cable tension. The estimated tension of the cable based on field measurements and estimated tension of cable by numerical analysis were compared with the estimated tension of the cable based on field measurements. The analysis showed that the measured tension of the cable based on field measurements was within the margin of error. Therefore, it is safe to apply these measuring devices to the site. As a result of comparing and analyzing the values of the acceleration-based cable estimation tension and numerical analysis of the field demonstration bridge, the acceleration-based cable estimation of tension is deemed appropriate within the allowable range. On-site applicability analysis revealed limitations of the measuring devices, such as the installation location of sensors and weather conditions, so continuous follow-up research on smart cable tension measuring systems is expected.

  • The significance of PNT information in the fourth industrial revolution is viewed differently in relation to the past. Autonomous vehicles, autonomous vessels, smart grids, and national infrastructure require sustainable and reliable services in addition to their high precision service. Satellite navigation system, which is the most representative system for providing PNT information, receive signals from satellites outside the earth so signal reception power is low and signal structures for civilian use are open to the public. Therefore, it is vulnerable to intentional and unintentional interference or hacking. Satellite navigation systems, which can easily acquire high performance of PNT information at low cost, require alternatives due to its vulnerability to the hacking. This paper proposed R-Mode (Ranging Mode) technology that utilizes currently operated navigation and communication infrastructure in terms of Signals of OPportunity (SoOP). For this, the Nationwide Differential Global Navigation Satellite System (NDGNSS), which currently gives a service of Medium Frequency (MF) navigation signal broadcasting, was used to validate the feasibility of a backup infrastructure in domestic maritime areas through simulation analysis.

  • The number of smart farms has increased to save labor in agricultural production as the subsidy become available from central and local governments. The number of illegal greenhouses has also increased, which causes serious issues for the local governments. In the present study, we developed Mask-RCNN model to detect greenhouses based on satellite images. Greenhouses in the satellite images were labeled for training and validation of the model. The Mask-RC NN model had the average precision (AP) of 75.6%. The average precision values for 50% and 75% of overlapping area were 91.1% and 81.8%, respectively. This results indicated that the Mask-RC NN model would be useful to detect the greenhouses recently built without proper permission using a periodical screening procedure based on satellite images. Furthermore, the model can be connected with GIS to establish unified management system for greenhouses. It can also be applied to the statistical analysis of the number and total area of greenhouses.

  • This research has been focused on accessing precision and accuracy of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-derived 3-D surveying coordinates. To this end, a highly precise and accurate testing control network had been established by GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) campaign and its network adjustment. The coordinates of the ground control points and the check points were estimated within 1cm accuracy for 95% of the confidence level. FC330 camera mounted on DJI Phantom 4 repeatedly took aerial photos of an experimental area seven times, and then processed them by two widely used software packages. To evaluate the precision and accuracy of the aerial surveys, 3-D coordinates of the ten check points which automatically extracted by software were compared with GNSS solutions. For the 95% confidence level, the standard deviation of two software's result is within 1cm, 2cm, and 4cm for the north-south, east-west, and height direction, and RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) is within 9cm and 8cm for the horizontal, vertical component, respectively. The interest is that the standard deviation is much smaller than RMSE. The F-ratio test was performed to confirm the statistical difference between the two software processing results. For the standard deviation and RMSE of most positional components, exception of RMSE of the height, the null hypothesis of the one-tailed tests was rejected. It indicates that the result of UAV photogrammetry can be different statistically based on the processing software.
