  • A self-consistent-field Green's matrix method for the calculation of electronic properties of chemisorbed system is devised and applied to the methanol on copper(110) surface. The method is based on CNDO Hartree-Fock approximation. Contour integration in the complex energy plane is used for an efficient calculation of the charge-density bond-order matrix. The information on each fragment prior to chemisorption is efficiently used and a small number of iterations are needed to reach the self-consistency. The changes of density of states and other quantities of methanol due to chemisorption are consistent with reported experimental results.

  • The classical Hardy Theorem on R states that a function f and its Fourier transform cannot be simultaneously very small; this fact was generalized by Miyachi in terms of L1 + L and log+-functions. In this paper, we consider the k-Hankel transform, which is a deformation of the Hankel transform by a parameter k > 0 arising from Dunkl's theory. We study Miyachi's theorem for the k-Hankel transform on ℝd.

  • In this paper, a novel estimation technique for a robust adaptive control scheme is presented for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with a general set of uncertainty. For a class of introduced more extended semi-strict feedback forms which generalize the systems studied in recent years, a novel estimation technique is proposed to estimate the states of the fully nonlinear unmodeled dynamics without stringent conditions. With the introduction of powerful functions, the estimation error can be tuned to a desired small region around the origin via the estimator parameters. In addition, with some effective functions, a modified adaptive backstepping for dynamic uncertainties is presented to drive the output to an arbitrarily small region around the origin by an appropriate choice of the design parameters. With our proposed schemes, we can remove or relax the assumptions of the existing results.

  • In this paper, we propose a new nonvolatile unit memory cell and proposal peripheral circuit using the polymer material. Memory that relies on bistable behavior- having tow states associated with different resistances at the same applied voltage - has attracted much interest because of its nonvolatile properties. Such memory may also have other merits, including simplicity of structure and manufacturing, and the small size of memory cells. We have plotted the load line graphs for the use of a polymer memory character, hence we have designed in the band-gap reference shape of a write/erase drive, and then designed in the 2-stage differential amplifier shape of a sense amplifier in the consideration of a low current characteristic of a polymer memory cell. The simulation result shows that is has high gain about 80dB by sensing the very small current.

  • Absorption of sulfisoxazole after oral administration was significantly increased by small dose(60mg/kg) of alloxan but not increased significantly by large dose (160mg/kg) of alloxan from that of normal rabbits. Pretreatment with alloxan did not give any effect on clearance of sulfisoxazole. As the results, It could come to conclusion that in creased absorption of the sulfisoxazole administered small dose of the alloxan was influenced by transport of intestinal membrane or intestinal enzyme activation or increase of intestinal absorption function.

  • Magnetic and transport properties in the ceramic specimen of L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$Fe $O_3$ with orthohombic structure has been investigated. Weak ferromagnetism has been observed in a ceramic sample of L $a_{0.7}$S $r_{0.3}$Fe $O_3$. Large dielectric relaxation of Debye type is observed in paramagnetic states within the temperature range of 130K~200K. From the temperature dependence of the characteristic frequency, we concluded that the elementary process of the dispersion is related to holes hopping between F $e^{3+}$ and F $e^{4+}$ ions. The temperature dependencies of thermoelectric power and Dc conductivity suggest that the charge carrier responsible for the conduction are strongly localized. These experimental results have been interpreted in terms of a hopping process involving small polaron.n.laron.n.

  • This paper discusses the mathematical modeling of a small scale ducted-fan UAV and examines its results in comparison to the wind tunnel test. A wind tunnel test is first performed, producing a substantial amount of test data. The acquired set of wind tunnel test data is then categorized and approximated as mathematical functions. Finally, the mathematically modeled forces and moments acting on the UAV are compared with the acquired wind tunnel data. The analysis involves a gradient-based algorithm and is applied to extract trim states with respect to various flight conditions. Consequently, a numerical analysis demonstrates that there exists a reasonable flight status with respect to airspeed.

  • As a popular mathematical framework for modeling decision making, Markov decision process (MDP) has been widely used to solve problem in many engineering fields. MDP consists of a set of discrete states, a finite set of actions, and rewards received after reaching a new state by taking action from the previous state. The objective of MDP is to find an optimal policy, that is, to find the best action to be taken in each state to maximize the expected discounted reward of policy (EDR). In practice, MDP is typically unknown, so simulation-based policy improvement (SBPI), which improves a given base policy sequentially by selecting the best action in each state depending on rewards observed via simulation, can be a practical way to find the optimal policy. However, the efficiency of SBPI is still a concern since many simulation samples are required to precisely estimate EDR for each action in each state. In this paper, we propose a method to select the best action accurately in each state using a small number of simulation samples, thereby improving the efficiency of SBPI. The proposed method accumulates the simulation samples observed in the previous states, so it is possible to precisely estimate EDR even with a small number of samples in the current state. The results of comparative experiments on the existing method demonstrate that the proposed method can improve the efficiency of SBPI.

  • We have investigated the gate insulator effects on the electrical performance of p-type tin monoxide (SnO) thin-film transistors (TFTs). Various SnO TFTs are fabricated with different gate insulators of a thermal $SiO_2$, a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) $SiO_x$, a $150^{\circ}C$-deposited PEVCD $SiO_x$, and a $300^{\circ}C$-deposited PECVD $SiO_x$. Among the devices, the one with the $150^{\circ}C$-deposited PEVCD $SiO_x$ exhibits the best electrical performance including a high field-effect mobility ($=4.86cm^2/Vs$), a small subthreshold swing (=0.7 V/decade), and a turn-on voltage around 0 (V). Based on the X-ray diffraction data and the localized-trap-states model, the reduced carrier concentration and the increased carrier mobility due to the small grain size of the SnO thin-film are considered as possible mechanisms, resulting in its high electrical performance.

  • This study aims to suggest an improved groundwater management plan for future policy decisions in Korea by examining representative groundwater management cases abroad. In the United States, the Ground Water Resources Program is operated both locally and regionally. In order to manage appropriate levels of groundwater in Japan, groundwater resource management programs are conducted according to small, medium, and large watersheds. In Europe, the watershed unit manages groundwater and surface water by way of an integrated approach. In Korea, groundwater development at the national level is designated and managed in a top-down manner, whereas in the United States and Japan, groundwater is managed from small-scale regional units to large-scale watersheds. In order to evaluate the sustainability of groundwater resources, groundwater must be evaluated through a dynamic process including continuous monitoring, groundwater flow analysis, and management priorities.
