A Method on Safety Assessment of Shell-type Roller Gate (쉘타입 로울러게이트의 안전성평가 방법)

  • This paper was carried out to prove the relation between static loads acting on the sluice(hydrostatic) and dynamic loads (additional loads) arising from opening or closing of sluice, through measuring the operation of shell-type roller gate by using the method of measuring of the completely opening water gate, as measured from one excitation state, it was confirmed to be capable of measuring the natural frequency reliable measurement results. Throughout the test, we prove that it's a reasonable way to estimate the default margin of safety when calculated by dividing the sum of the hydrostatic stress to the maximum stress and additional stress. The application of this paper's safety estimation method can be utilized as the basic data for the systematic and rational maintenance management of dams and submerged weirs in the future, and it is expected that this study can bring forth.

Investigation and Complementary Measures Establishment for Flood on Tidal Reclaimed Paddy Fields (간척지 논 침수 원인 조사와 방재 대책 수립)

  • Tidal land reclamation provided water resources and land for agriculture and contributed stable crop production. However, climate change by global warming disrupts the hydrologic circulatory system of the earth resulting in sea level rise and more frequent flood for reclaimed arable land. Recently, Suyu reclaimed paddy field in Jindo-gun experienced prolonged inundation after heavy rainfall and there is a growing risk of flood damage. Onsite survey and flood analysis using GATE_Pro model of Korea Rural Corporation were conducted to investigate causes of flooding. To perform the analysis, input data such as inflow hydrograph, the lowest elevation of paddy field, neap tide level, management level of Gunnae estuary lake at the time of the flood were collected. Flood analysis confirmed that current drainage facilities are not enough to prevent 20year return period flood. The result of analysis showed flooding more than 24hours. Therefore, flood mitigation alternatives such as sluice gate expansion, installation drainage pumping station, refill paddy land, and catch canal were studied. Replacing drainage culvert of Suyu dike to sluice gate and installing drainage pumping station at the Gunne lake were identified as an effective flood control measures. Furthermore, TM/TC (SCADA) system and expert for gate management are required for the better management of drainage for estuary dam and flood mitigation.

  • Nowadays, it is convenient to use 3D modeling tools for general planning before construction. Normally, a 3D model is built with 3D CAD such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, etc. or simply with AutoCAD. All these software packages are effective in building 3D models but difficult to use, because many provided functions and tools require prior knowledge to build both 2D and 3D designs. Moreover, the traditional method of building 3D models is most time-consuming as experienced operators and manual input are required. Therefore, how to minimize the building time of 3D models and provide easy-to-use functions for users who are not familiar with 3D modeling becomes important. In this paper, the VisualLISP programming language is used to create a convenient tool for efficient generation of 3D components for the AutoCAD environment. This tool will be demonstrated with the generation of a 3D sluice, an artificial passage for water fitted with a valve or gate to stop or regulate water flow. With the tool, users only need to enter the parameters of a sluice in the edit box and the 3D model will be automatically generated in a few seconds. By changing parameters in the edit box and pressing the "OK" button, a new 3D sluice model will be generated in a short while.

  • We enhance the stability of SaeManGeum Drainage Sluice Gate Bridge. We prevent a destruction disaster of it. We extend the life cycle of it. So We have developed the safety control system to manage the facility of bridge to the continuance. In this study, sensitive sensor and measuring instrument has been taken to consider the characteristic of the box-girder type concrete bridge. And CDMA type has adapted for wireless communication. Control program has been developed on web base. In this program, the advanced systems have applied like this; the setup of control range for management from the statistical analysis, the evaluation system for force and deformation and the control system for a heavy vehicle permit.

Numerical Analysis in Hydrograph Determination for Sluice Gate installed Levee (배수통문이 설치된 제방의 설계수위파형결정에 관한 수치해석)

  • According to national regulations and its commentary, such as Rivers Design Criteria & Commentary (KWRA, 2009), Foundation Structure Guideline and its Commentary(MLTM, 2014 and KGS, 2009), the integrity evaluation of river levee includes slope stability evaluation of both riverside/protected low-land and piping stability evaluation with respect to foundation and levee body along with water level conditions. In this case the design hydro-graph can be the most important input factor for the integrity evaluation, however it is fact that the national regulations do not provide any proper determination methods regarding hydro-graph. The authors thus executed an integrity evaluation of sluice gate in levee by changing each hydro-graph factor, including rising ordinary water level, lasting flood water level, falling water level, and flood frequency, in order to suggest a determination method of reasonable hydro-graph. As a result, the authors suggested that at least over 57 hours of rising ordinary water level and over 53 hours of lasting flood water level should be considered for the design hydro-graph of sluice gate in levee at Mun-san-jae.

Estimation of Rock Erodibility due to Energy Dissipation of Inflow Passing through the Sluice Gate of Seadike (배수갑문 유입수류의 에너지 감쇠에 따른 암석 침식 가능성 추정)

  • Sihwa seadike is originally designed to control the water level In lake Sihwa. However the sluice gate is being operated everyday to preserve the water quality of lake. Due to the frequent operation of gates the bottom of drainage canal which is composed of weathered rock and soft rock is being scoured. Recently the bottom in the front area of apron was protected by putting underwater concrete. This study is carried out to understand the hydraulic situation for protection, and to estimate the trend of scouring by comparing between energy dissipation and registance of bottom rock. Annandale(1995) introduced the erodibility index theory, and suggested a criteria to judge the erodibility of rock through the relation between the erodibility index and energy dissipation. Determenation of erodibility index of rock is based on the results of sample core analysis, and the energy dissipation of flow is calculated from the estimation of total head on the scale model. These two values are plotted on the criteria, and the erodibility of rock is determined.

  • 국내 해안선을 따라 발생되는 침식 및 퇴적현상으로 인하여 해안구조물의 안정성과 같은 안전 문제가 발생되고 있다. 이러한 자연현상을 대비하여 연안지역 특성에 맞는 침식 저감 대책 마련에 대한 연구가 되고 있다. 침식현상은 다양한 외력조건과 지리적 특성을 함께 고려해야 한다. 고립파로 인한 침식 발생 현상에 대한 국외 연구들이 다수 수행되어 왔으며, 국내에는 이와 관련된 연구가 상대적으로 부족하다. 고립파는 파고의 특성에 따라 파형이 결정되는 특징을 가지고 있어, 침식현상과 지진해일의 실험적 연구에 있어 입사파로 주로 활용되고 있다. 기존의 방법과 동일하게 sluice gate를 순간적으로 개방하여 고립파를 재현하는 방식으로 파랑을 재현하였다. 본 연구에서는 폭 0.80 m, 높이 0.75 m, 수로연장 12.00 m의 강화유리로 설계된 직사각형 단면 수로에서 실험을 수행하였다. 측면에 두 대의 카메라(Model No. : Sony, HDR-XR550)를 고정설치하여 경사면 하상변화를 촬영하였고, 영상분석을 통하여 하상변동을 측정하였다. 유사특성에 따른 하상변동을 연구하기 위하여 경사면에 포설된 유사로는 주문진 표준사($d_{50}=0.6268mm$, $c_u=1.68$)와 안트라사이트($d_{50}=1.547mm$, $c_u=1.387$)를 동일한 실험조건에서 함께 사용하였다. 경사면에서 고립파의 처오름, 처내림을 추적하여 그 경향을 분석하였다. 하상의 침식 및 퇴적구간 길이, 침식, 퇴적의 높이 및 깊이와 같은 형상분석을 통한 영향인자를 함께 무차원화 하여 실험결과를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 Sluice gate를 이용한 고립파 수리실험으로 경사면 하상의 침식 및 퇴적 현상에 관한 기초적인 실험자료로 활용될 것이다.
