Optimization of a straight fin heat sink in 3D LCos projector considering bypass flow and a flow barrier

  • In this paper, the effect of a flow barrier and bypass on the cooling performance for a straight fin heat sink is presented. Both side directions and upward direction of bypass are controlled using various ducts which have different width and heights. In addition, a flow barrier is used to control flow toward heat sink. Through experiments, the distance from leading edge of a heat sink to a flow barrier is varied for various bypasses under fixed volume flow rate condition. This study shows possibility to improve cooling performance when bypass and a flow barrier exist.

  • A numerical study on the cooling performance for electronic components mounted with heat sink in an electronic system has been performed. The model of electronic system consisted with lower and upper modules in which the electronic components mounted with heat sink were arrayed. To find better configuration under a given fan power for effective cooling, the cases called 'No heat sink','Both heat sinks','Lower heat sinks', and 'Upper heat sinks' were tested. The results showed that the cooling performance in 'Upper heat sinks' was the best among four cases.

  • A consecutive k out of n failure lines with sink-source parts is a system of components in sequence such that the system fails whether some k consecutive components are all fail. Some object, be it a flow, is to be relayed from a source to a sink through a sequence of intermediate stations(components). Now care should be taken as to if the source and the sink are also considered components of the systems, i. e. , whether they serve the same function as the intermediate components (stations). Such systems are different from ordinary consecutive k- out of n failure lines by adding the on source and sink pole[6]. The main properties of the reliability by the optimal redundancy of consecutive k out of n failure lines are presented under this modification.

전자냉각용 히트파이프 히트싱크 개발 (Heat Pipe Heat Sink Development for Electronics Cooling)

  • A heat sink (HS) system using heat pipes for electronics systems was studied. The experimental results indicate that a cooling capacity of up to 150w at an overall temperature difference of $50^{\circ}C$ can be attainable. The heat sink design program also showed that a computer simulation can predict the most of the parameters involved. To do so, however, the interior temperature distribution had to be verified by experimental results. The current simulation results were close to the experimental results in acceptable range. The simulation study showed that the design program can be a good tool to predict the effects of various parameters involved in the optimum design of the heat sink.

  • When Power MOSFET is operated, it causes lots of heat, which influences negatively on the characteristics of the devices and shorten the lifespan of them. Therefore, a heat sink should be mounted on to emit the heat. In this experiment, we've found the changes of the characteristics of Thermal Transient of MOSFET when a heat sink is applied. In addition, we've found other changes when heat sink compound is applied as well.

  • 본 논문에서는 분산 구역에서 이동 싱크의 방문 변경 방식에 대해 고려한다. 원거리 구역으로 나누어진 센서 네트워크의 경우 이동 싱크 시스템은 각 지역을 정해진 방식에 따라 방문한다. 하지만 네트워크의 환경의 특성에 따라 이동 싱크 시스템의 방문이 비정기적이며 방문 지역 또한 달라질 수 있다. 따라서 센서 네트워크에서 수집되는 데이터의 특성에 따라 이동 싱크 시스템의 방문이 실시간적으로 변경되는 것을 고려한다.

  • 무선 센서 네트워크의 클러스터링(Clustering) 기법은 센서 노드의 에너지 소모를 최소화하기 위한 목적으로 개발되어 Network Lifetime을 증대시키는 효과를 보인다. 기존의 클러스터링 기법들은 센서 노드들이 CH(Cluster Head) 역할을 교대로 수행함으로써 각 노드의 에너지 소모를 균등하도록 하여 Network Lifetime을 향상시키는 방법을 제안하였지만, 싱크(Sink) 노드와 인접한 노드들의 에너지 소모를 최소화하는 방안은 제시하지 못했다. 본 논문에서는 싱크 노드의 POS(Personal Operating Space)내에 존재하는 인접 노드의 일부를 클러스터의 멤버(Member) 노드로 가입시키지 않고, 직접싱크 노드와 통신하게 함으로써 싱크 노드와 인접한 CH의 에너지 소모를 줄여 Network Lifetime을 연장하는 클러스터링 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

Thermal Characteristics of the Optimal Design on 20W COB LED Down Light Heat Sink

  • As the demand of the LED for lighting that emits light by p-n junction is increasing, studies on heatproof plate technology is being conducted to minimize the temperature of the LED lighting. As for the temperature of the LED devices, their light emitting efficiency decreases and the maximum lifespan drops down to 1/5. Therefore there are heat dissipation studies going on to minimize the heat. For LED heat dissipation, aluminum heat sink plates are mostly used. For this paper, we designed heat sink that fits residential 20W COB LED Down Light; packaged the heat sink and 20W COB and analyzed and evaluated the thermal properties through a Solidworks flow simulation. We are planning to design the optimal heat sink plate to solve the thermal agglomeration considering TIM(Thermal Interface material).

다중 충돌 공기제트에서 발포 알루미늄 방열기의 방열 특성 실험 (An Experiment on Heat Dissipation from Aluminum foam Heat Sinks in an Air Multi-Jet Impingement)

  • The present experiment investigates the effects of pore density f of aluminum foam heat sinks, the jet-to-jet spacing X and the nozzle plate-to-target surface spacing H of 3$\times$3 square impinging arrays on the averaged Nusselt number. The performance of the aluminum foam heat sinks and the rectangular plate heat sink is evaluated in terms of the enhancement factor. /equation omitted/. The multiple impinging jet with X/d=4.0 displays higher Nusselt numbers than single impinging jet for 12.0$\leq$H/d$\leq$20.0. With the variation of the jet-to-jet spacing, the aluminum foam heat sink of 10 PPI show higher Nusselt numbers than the 20 and 40 PPI aluminum foam heat sinks. Further, the 10 PPI aluminum foam heat sink demonstrates 26% higher enhancement factor than the rectangular plate heat sink in the range of 7000$\leq$Re$\leq$11000.

센서 네트워크에서 다수의 이동 싱크로의 에너지 효율적인 데이터 전파에 관한 연구 (Proactive Data Dissemination Protocol on Distributed Dynamic Sink Mobility Management in Sensor Networks)

  • In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient proactive data dissemination protocol with relatively low delay to cope well with highly mobile sink environments in sensor networks. In order for a dissemination tree to continuously pursue a dynamic sink, we exploit two novel algorithms: forward sink advertisement and distributed fast recovery. In our protocol, the tree is shared with the other slave sinks so that we call it Dynamic Shared Tree (DST) protocol. DST can conserve considerable amount of energy despite maintaining robust connection from all sources to sinks, since tree maintenance of DST is accomplished by just distributed local exchanges. In addition, since the DST is a kindof sink-oriented tree, each source on the DST disseminates data with lower delay along the tree and it also facilitates in-network processing. Through simulations, it is shown that the presented DST is considerably energy-efficient, robust protocol with low delay compared to Directed Diffusion, TTDD, and SEAD, in highly mobile sink environment.
