Reliability evaluation of the welded structure for industrial structures/facilities such as power plant and petro-chemical refinery facilities is very important, and especially the reliability diagnosis of the structure is based on the exact evaluation of materials properties. But, the conventional Pre-Qualification test had the difficulty of evaluating the real material properties in the field because the test was made on the specimen with the simulated welding for the in-field welding condition. Therefore, a continuous indentation technique was proposed for simple and non-destructive testing of in-field structures and for selective testing of local range such as heat affected zone and weldment.

The electrical breakdown characteristics of liquid nitrogen(LN$\sub$2/) were studied under simulated quenching conditions for application of HTS apparatus. The experimental results for various quenching condition revealed that the breakdown voltage of LN$\sub$2/ with bubble flow velocity and gap spacing. In the case, breakdown voltage decreases gradually with the bubble velocity. When it is bubble velocity from 0 to 1 $\ell$ /min, breakdown voltage rapidly decreases but decreases from 2 $\ell$/min to 10 $\ell$/min slowly. The breakdown voltage for vertical electrode arrangement is higher than that for horizontal electrode arrangement. Also, it did a electric field and potential distribution interpreting at the liquid nitrogen when the bubble existed. The plots of equipotential lines for three cases are also shown.

The test and evaluation is a integal part of the radar development process and it consists of two parts, field test and in-house test using a standard simulated signal. To take the in-house test, the test environment is needed to generate the critical signal that is used to determine the system design parameters and consists of general urpose measurement equipments, specialized boards and operating softwares. This paper presents the in-house test environment configuration and its function for radar system. Because this test environment genrates the simulated radar signal which has arbitrary flight path and target condition, the developed test environment makes easily to evaluate the function for radar system. The program ability of test parameters makes it possible to apply a test for 2D and 3D radar system.
A conditional probability based approach known as Particle Filter Method (PFM) is a powerful tool for system parameter identification. In this paper, PFM has been applied to identify the vehicle parameters based on response statistics of the bridge. The flexibility of vehicle model has been considered in the formulation of bridge-vehicle interaction dynamics. The random unevenness of bridge has been idealized as non homogeneous random process in space. The simulated response has been contaminated with artificial noise to reflect the field condition. The performance of the identification system has been examined for various measurement location, vehicle velocity, bridge surface roughness factor, noise level and assumption of prior probability density. Identified vehicle parameters are found reasonably accurate and reconstructed interactive force time history with identified parameters closely matches with the simulated results. The study also reveals that crude assumption of prior probability density function does not end up with an incorrect estimate of parameters except requiring longer time for the iterative process to converge.

This paper describes the influence of conducting particle in the coaxial cylindrical electrodes under alternating voltage condition investigated using breakdown electric field and electro magnetics simulation method. Simulated particle-location in GIS chamber were the particle on electrode, the particle on enclosure and free moving particle. As results, it was founded that in case of breakdown electric field of the GIS chamber, breakdown electric field of particle on electrode was the lowest, that of free moving particle was middle and that of particle on enclosure was the highest. And in case of the electric field analysis with particle locations, electric field of particle on electrode was the highest, that of lifted particle was middle and that of particle on enclosure was the lowest. This results can offer a practical reference on the insulation design of domestic GIS.

In Japan, more than 80 % of soybean growing area is converted fields and excess water is one of the major problems in soybean production. For example, recent study (Yoshifuji et al., 2016) suggested that in the fields of shallow groundwater level (GWL) (< 1m depth), rising GWL even in a short period (e.g. 1 day) causes inhibition of soybean growth. Thus it becomes more and more important to predict GWL and soil moisture in detail. In addition to conventional surface drainage and underdrain, FOEAS (Farm Oriented Enhancing Aquatic System), which is expected to control GWL in fields adequately, has been developed recently. In this study we attempted to predict GWL and soil moisture condition at the converted field with FOEAS in Biwa lake reclamation area, Shiga prefecture, near the center of the main island of Japan. Two dimensional HYDRUS model (Simuinek et al., 1999) based on common Richards' equation, was used for the calculation of soil water movement. The calculation domain was considered to be 10 and 5 meter in horizontal and vertical direction, respectively, with two layers, i.e. 20cm-thick of plowed layer and underlying subsoil layer. The center of main underdrain (10 cm in diameter) was assumed to be 5 meter from the both ends of the domain and 10-60cm depth from the surface in accordance with the field experiment. The hydraulic parameters of the soil was estimated with the digital soil map in "Soil information web viewer" and Agricultural soil-profile physical properties database, Japan (SolphyJ) (Kato and Nishimura, 2016). Hourly rainfall depth and daily potential evapo-transpiration rate data were given as the upper boundary condition (B.C.). For the bottom B.C., constant upward flux, which meant the inflow flux to the field from outside, was given. Seepage face condition was employed for the surrounding of the underdrain. Initial condition was employed as GWL=60cm. Then we compared the simulated and observed results of volumetric water content at depth of 15cm and GWL. While the model described the variation of GWL well, it tended to overestimate the soil moisture through the growing period. Judging from the field condition, and observed data of soil moisture and GWL, consideration of soil structure (e.g. cracks and clods) in determination of soil hydraulic parameters at the plowed layer may improve the simulation results of soil moisture.
DAHAN, the first 1 MWe Solar Power Tower system locates north to Beijing where nearby The Great Wall is now under construction with cooperation between China and Korea. Results in predicting the preliminary performance of this central receiver system are presented in this paper. Operating cycles under some typical weather condition days are simulated and commented. These results can be used to assess the impact of alternative plant designs or operating strategies on annual energy production, with the final objective being to optimize the design of central receiver power plants. Two subsystems are considered in the system simulation: the solar field and the power block. Mathematic models are used to represent physical phenomena and relationships so that the characteristics of physical processes involving these phenomena can be predicted. Decisions regarding the best position for locating heliostats relative to the receiver and how high to place the receiver above the field constitute a multifaceted problem. Four different kinds of field layout are designed and analyzed by the use of ray tracing and mathematical simulation techniques to determine the overall optical performance ${\eta}_{field}$ and the spillage ${\eta}_{spill}$.The power block including a Rankine cycle is analyzed by conventional energy balance methods.

Reliable response measurements are extremely important for proper bridge health monitoring but incomplete and unreliable data may be acquired due to sensor problems and environmental effects. In the case of a sensor malfunction, parts of the measured data can be missing so that the structural health condition cannot be monitored reliably. This means that the dynamic characteristics of natural frequencies can change as if the structure is damaged due to environmental effects, such as temperature variations. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes a systematic procedure of data analysis to recover missing data and eliminate the environmental effects from the measured data. It also proposes a health index calculated statistically using revised data to evaluate the health condition of a bridge. The proposed method was examined using numerically simulated data with a truss structure and then applied to a set of field data measured from a cable-stayed bridge.

In a power system, an out-of-step condition causes a variety of risk such as serious damage to system elements, tripping of loads and generators, mal-operation of relays, etc. Therefore, it is very important to detect the out-of- step condition and take a proper measure. This paper presents a study on implementation of out-of-step detection algorithm using VHDL(Very high speed Hardware Description Language). The structure of out-of-step detection algorithm is analyzed for development of out-of-step detection relay on the FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). The out-of-step algorithm is separated to 4 parts: DFT IP, complex power calculation IP, out-of-step detection IP, control unit. Each parts are developed and simulated by using VHDL.
The pathogenesity of 25 isolates of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides from apple, 42 isolates from pepper, 5 isolates from jujube, 8 isolates from persimmon was evaluated to know transmission to strawberry from other infected plants. Followings are the results. Colony morphology and spore size on potato dextrose agar was similar. When each isolate was inoculated on leaf and petiole of strawberry, isolates from persimmon was the most pathogenic. Five isolates, one pathogenic isolate per each host, were evaluated in simulated field condition under natural rainfall for their natural infectivity. All isolates infected strawberry in field condition, so C. gloeosporioides from other hosts are potential inoculum source of strawberry anthracnose.
