A Comparison of FFH/SSMA and DS/CDMA Communications in a Rician Fading Channel

  • In this paper, we compare the bit-error-rate performance of the fast-frequency-hopped spread-spectrum multiple-access (FFH/SSMA) and direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems in a Rician fading channel. Each system has a same data rate, bandwidth and transmits over a Rician fading channel. The results illustrate tradoffs in performance between the FFH/SSMA and DS/CDMA systems as a function of the parameters such as average signal to noise ratio and processing gain. The performance of the FFH/SSMA system is shown to be less sensitive to the change of fading environments, while the change of processing gain and average signal to noise ratio gives considerable affect to the FFH/SSMA system compared with the DS/CDMA system. Without respect to the change of system parameters, for most of Rician fading channels (except non-fading channel), FFH/SSMA system gives better performance than DS/CDMA system in BBR < 10$\^$-3/.

  • Putative genes for a two-component signal transduction system (akbS and akbT) were detected near the alkylbenzene-degrading operon of Rhodococcus sp. DK17. Sequence analysis indicates that AkbS possesses potential ATP-binding and histidine autophosphorylation sites in the N- and C-terminal regions, respectively, and that AkbT has a typical response regulator domain. Mutant analysis combined with RT-PCR experiments further shows that AkbS is required to induce the expression of o-xylene dioxygenase in DK17.

  • For implementation of FM-DS/SS system. This paper has analyzed SO(Synchronous Oscillator) being oscillated by the motivation of injected signal. Transmitter has adopted FM-DS/SS modulation method using RF output-signal of FM. Receiver is used SO to demodulation of FM-DS/SS and applied sliding correlator for synchronization of PN clock. As a result of the inspection, SO presented stable lock ability in spite of doppler apperance and proved the synchronous properties of it in the FM-DS/SS system.

  • This paper presents an impulse response of the multi-path channel using KS-GCR(Korean Standard Ghost Cancel Reference) signal. Using the property of the KS-GCRsignal, we can get the impulse response of the multi-path channel from circular cross correlation of the received DS-GCR signal and the orginal KS-GCR ternary sequence. Therefore impulse response of the multi-path channel can be used to design the the ghost cancellation filter if it is designed to have inverse characteristics of multi-path channel. This paper shows that the ghost occurred from the multi-path channel can be cancelled by using the impulse response and preceding ghost cancellation algorithm.

  • An attempt of using SOCMAC neural network for the prediction of a nonlinear sequence, which is generated by Mackey-Glass equation, is reported. The ,report shows the SOCMAC can handle a system with multi-dimensional continuous inputs, which has been considered very difficult, if not impossible, task to be implemented by a CMAC neural network because of a huge amount of memory required. Also, an improved training method based on the variable receptive fields is proposed. The Performance ranged somewhere around those of TDNN and BP neural networks.

  • 벡터양자화는 신호의 압축에 이용되는 일반적인 방법이다. 그러나 유클리드 거리 등을 이용한 거리 계산량이 많아서 코드북 크기나 압축율의 제한이 있게 된다. 따라서 PDS(partial distance search)와 같은 벡터양자화 부호화의 계산량을 줄이기 위한 많은 방법들이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이웃한 음성신호는 급격히 변하지 않고 서서히 변해가는 성질에 착안하여 현재의 벡터 다음에 발생되는 벡터를 조사하여 인덱스를 저장한 후 이를 다음 벡터의 벡터양자화 때 참고함으로써 불필요한 계산을 줄이는 방법이다. 제안한 방법으로 음성신호에 대해 실험한 결과 전탐색의 결과와 비교하여 빠른 시간에 큰 오차없이 벡터양자화 부호화를 할 수 있었다. 이 방법은 PDS와 같은 이미 제안되어 있는 많은 방법들과 같이 이용하면 더욱 효과적인 벡터양자화 부호화를 할 수 있을 것이다.

Optical Signal Sampling Based on Compressive Sensing with Adjustable Compression Ratio

  • We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel photonic compressive sensing (CS) scheme for acquiring sparse radio frequency signals with adjustable compression ratio in this paper. The sparse signal to be measured and a pseudo-random binary sequence are modulated on consecutively connected chirped pulses. The modulated pulses are compressed into short pulses after propagating through a dispersive element. A programmable optical filter based on spatial light modulator is used to realize spectral segmentation and demultiplexing. After spectral segmentation, the compressed pulses are transformed into several sub-pulses and each of them corresponds to a measurement in CS. The major advantage of the proposed scheme lies in its adjustable compression ratio, which enables the system adaptive to the sparse signals with variable sparsity levels and bandwidths. Experimental demonstration and further simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility and potential of the approach.

PAPR reduction algorithm of adaptive suboptimal PTS (PAPR 감소를 위한 임계치 적용 부최적 PTS 기법)

  • An adaptive sub-optimal method using a preset threshold for combining partial transmit sequence (PTS) of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is presented. The results show that adaptive sub-optimal method reduces the 0.1% PAP by 3.4dB, while iterative flipping method reduces it by 3dB and PTS reduce it by 4.1dB. The complexity of adaptive sub-optimal method is 2.4% of that of PTS method for M=8.
