  • The human ${\beta}$$_2$-adrenergic receptor (h${\beta}$$_2$AR) contains seven clusters of hydrophobic amino acids suggestive of membrane-spanning domains and its gene is intronless. The genomic gene encoding h${\beta}$$_2$AR has been isolated by polymerase chain reaction. To express h${\beta}$$_2$AR in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a modified h${\beta}$$_2$AR gene was fused to signal peptide sequence of Killer toxin gene from Kluyveromyces lactics. This fusion gene was expressed under the galactose-inducible GAL10 promoter. The ligand binding experiments showed that the functional h${\beta}$$_2$AR was expressed at a concentration three times as much as that found in Hamster lung.

  • Various cell types that express regulatory function may influence the pathogenesis of most and perhaps all infections. Some regulatory cells are present at the time of infection whereas others are induced or activated in response to infection. The actual mechanisms by which different types of infections signal regulatory cell responses remain poorly understood. However a most likely mechanism is the creation of a microenvironment that permits the conversion of conventional T cells into cells with the same antigen specificity that have regulatory function. Some possible means by which this can occur are discussed. The relationship between regulatory cells and infections is complex especially with chronic situations. The outcome can either be of benefit to the host or damage the disease control process or in rare instances appears to be a component of a finely balanced relationship between the host and the infecting agent. Manipulating the regulatory cell responses to achieve a favorable outcome of infection remains an unfulfilled objective of therapeutic immunology.

  • We propose a simple and efficient driving algorithm to reduce Dynamic False Contour(DFC) in Plasma Display Panels(PDPs) by using both accumulation and combination of light emission periods. Although the accumulative way of light emission in sustain period is regarded as more effective than combinational way to reduce DFC, it takes much addressing time to express high gray-scale. Therefore, we combine accumulative and combinational light emission methods to reduce DFC. In the proposed method, one TV field (16.7ms) is composed of four combinational subfields for expressing small gray scales and fifteen accumulative subfields for large gray scales. In addition, we use some Graphic Signal Processing(GSP) algorithm to get more natural images by reducing DFC.

  • In order to speed up basic concept is to enhance high speed, curve limit speed, cross limit speed, acceleration/deceleration speed. It is important to optimal interface fundamental technology of vehicle, rail, electrical power, and signal system. Tilting train has advantage minimizing investment cost of infra railway system for increasing train limit speed in curve. the developed tilting train should be operated to commercial service speed 180Km/h of 200Km/h at KNR upgrade railroad. This paper proposed the basic model of system engineering for developing of TTX, tilting EMU (maximum operation speed : 180km/h) with speed-up of conventional railway system.

  • The definite molecular mechanisms underlying the genesis of nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPCs) remain to be completely elucidated. miRNAs are small non-coding RNAs which are implicated in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and even carcinogenesis through negatively regulating gene expression post-transcriptionally. EBV was the first human virus found to express miRNAs. EBV-encoded BART-miRNAs and dysregulated cellular miRNAs are involved in carcinogenesis of NPC by interfering in the expression of viral and host cell genes related to immune responses and perturbing signal pathways of proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, metastasis and even radio-chemo-therapy sensitivity. Additional studies on the roles of EBV-encoded miRNAs and cellular miRNAs will provide new insights concerning the complicated gene regulated network and shed light on novel strategies for the diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of NPC.

  • Time delays are included in most of actual systems, and some of which are shown as time varying. To analyze the time varying time delay system in the time domain. a useful delay module to express the function as a tool is much helpful to get corresponding outputs under given conditions. A method is proposed here to design the algorithm of time delay module for simulation or control purposes, including the problems of initializing and reallocating data in buffer. After classifying the time varying time delay into the distributed mode and lumped mode, an object to describe delay module is configured and tested under the defined input signal and given time delay variation. The simulation results show that the output of module matches reasonably with the case of real system.

  • Noisy speech recognition is one of most important problems in speech recognition. In this paper, a method which efficiently removes the mixed noise with speech, is proposed. The proposed method is based on the ICA to separate the mixed noise. ICA(Independent component analysis) is a signal processing technique, whose goal is to express a set of random variables as linear combinations of components that are statistically as independent from each other as possible.

  • Small intestine has a structure called villi that increases the mucosal surface area for nutrient absorption. Intricate and tight epithelial-mesenchymal interactions are required for villi development. These interactions are regulated by signaling molecules, physical forces, and epithelial deformation. Signaling molecules include hedgehog (Hh), bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) and Wnt ligands. The Hh ligand is expressed from the epithelium and binds to the underlying mesenchymal cells, resulting in aggregation into mesenchymal clusters. The clusters express BMP and Wnt ligands to control its size and spacing between clusters. The clusters then form villi. Despite the fact that the villi formation is studied extensively, we do not have a complete understanding. In addition, the recent study shows there is a great relationship between the overexpression of the Hh signal and development of cancer in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, signaling between epithelial and mesenchymal cells and their physical interactions will be discussed on this review.

  • Aging diagnosis system using partial discharge(PD) is being highlighted as a research area. But the application of PD requires complicated analysis method because the PD has complex progressing forms. In this paper, It has been developed to the PD diagnosis system using neural network(NN). As a result after NN learning, the recognized rate was represented about 85%. The safety area is possible to express the second output of NN in this experiments.
