  • As an emerging e-retail model, private shopping malls are transforming the traditional retail systems. These malls are expanding in Europe and the United States and have recently arrived in Korea. This study investigates the relationships among the usefulness of SNS(Social Networking Sites), shopping values, and purchase intentions for fashion products in private shopping malls. The analysis was based on a survey of consumers, aged between 20 and 39, who recently purchased fashion products from a private shopping mall. Two hundred samples were used in the final analysis. The study employed descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modeling. The relationships among usefulness of SNS, shopping values, and purchase intentions was verified through structural equation modeling. More specifically, the usefulness of SNS significantly influenced the utilitarian shopping values as well as purchase intention of fashion products. Utilitarian shopping values, in turn, significantly influenced hedonic shopping values and purchase intention. Further, hedonic shopping values had a significant effect on purchase intention.

Utilitarian and hedonic shopping values, trust, attitude and purchase intention are incorporated into the Value-Attitude-Behavior model to find out how differently shopping values and trust influence online shoppers attitude and purchase intention when they have different purchase experiences. Data are collected from survey of 187 subjects and divided into two groups according to their online purchase experiences : 97 shoppers with low online purchase experiences and 89 with high experiences. PLS(Partial Least Square) method is applied to estimate the research model and to test 7 hypotheses. The results show the difference of the way how shopping value and trust influence purchase intention. In the case of low experienced online shoppers, trust has the greatest influence purchase intention, followed by hedonic shopping value mediated by attitude. However utilitarian shopping values have a bigger impact on it for shoppers with high purchase experiences. In the latter, trust also has a significant impact on purchase intention at confidence level of 0.05. The results also provide useful implications for practitioners to build and manage their marketing strategies. Managers of online shopping mall should react to the different shopping value by shopper's experience.

  • With growing competition and increasing consumer demands, companies pay more attention than ever to market mavens who play a central role in diffusing marketplace information and influencing others' decisions. To enhance our understanding of the market maven, this paper examines the role of market mavenism in shaping consumers' shopping values (utilitarian value, hedonic value) and their post-purchase satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Regression analyses revealed that market mavenism had a positive impact on hedonic shopping values, and post-purchase satisfaction. The findings showed that hedonic shopping values had a significant impact on post-purchase satisfaction while utilitarian shopping value did not have any significant relationship. Findings of the study also suggest that market mavens pursue hedonic shopping values and exhibit greater post-purchase dissatisfaction than others. Practitioners are recommended to create entertaining retail environments for market mavens who seek hedonic values when they shop. The results also suggest that practitioners need to pay close attention to market mavens at the post-purchase stage since they can be extremely dissatisfied.
