  • In this paper, the parabolic antenna aims to the precise location of a moving ship or car that can be designed system using the gyro sensor. The parabolic antenna has controlled by stepping motor that is a lot of noise and slow response of speed. It has solved the problem which is noise and slow response using the BLDC motor. Also, in order to suppress the noise two-axis control and a separate encoder to the six degrees of freedom motion system was implemented in a precise location. Generally, the gyro sensor is not required to system that doesn't move the six degrees of freedom motion system. But the system will be applied to the moving such as ships or cars. Finally, we presented the position control algorithm at the sometimes controlled both gyro sensor and BLDC motor. This system was tracking that the location of the antenna to the desired angle and errors almost didn't happen when the system was moved 6 degrees of freedom.

  • Landing ship tank with well dock has the important mission transferring troops or landing equipments from sea to shore. Such transfers are usually carried out using landing crafts, which are loaded or unloaded in flooded well dock. In this situation, as relative motions are occur between well dock and landing craft, safety verifications are demanded. In this paper, seakeeping and safety performances are investigated through model test. First of all, well dock dimensions are reviewed and model tests are performed with sea state 3&4 in 180degree wave direction. Model tests are conducted for three relative positions and seakeeping performances are investigated each position.

  • High capacity container carrier has been considered for many decades to transport the more containers at the same time. Therefore, it is required for high capacity container ship to be applied thicker plate to accomodate a number of containers compared to that of general container ship. To maintain the same productivity of this thicker plate, new welding process should be considered. One of the process for vertical-up position is 2 electrodes EGW(Electro Gas Welding). 2 ectrodes EGW was applied and evaluated whether it can be applicable or not. The heat input used for 72mm thick plate was 520k11cm. from the mechanical test, it is considered that this process can be applicable, showing satisfaction of mechanical properties such as tensile strength, elongation and impact property.

  • The resistance property of a high speed passenger craft (: "DOL-PIN HO" designed by the author in 1972) is investigated as follows; -. The Resistance property of the craft is determined by savitsky′s method and blount-Fox′s method. The theoretical results are also compared with the full scale data. The comparison reveals that the result when using blount/fox′s method are in much closer agreement with the full scale data than savitsky′s. -. The effects of ship speed on the positions of the center of pressure and of the longitudinal center of gravity (L.C.G.) are investigated. The investigation shows that the position of L.C.G. of the craft is almost constant although the ship speed is changed. -. The effect of transom flap on the Resistance property of the craft is studied using savitsky/brown′s method. From the study it is found that the resistance of the craft is decreased and hence speed gain (about 3% of the service speed) can be obtained, when using transom flap for the craft.

  • In this paper the attitude control system is developed for longitudinal motion of Foil-Catamaran in regular waves with all-movable foils which attached to fore and after part of the ship and verified the system by theoretical calculation and model-tests. The linearized equations of motion of the ship is employed to apply the linear control theories, the PID control and the LQR. The strip method was used to calculate hydrodynamic coefficients and wave exciting forces of the demi hull, and unsteady hydrodynamic forces of foils are considered by using the result of Wu(1972). About 40-60% of motions is reduced in experiments. The control system described in this paper is able to extended to 6-DOF motions or control in irregular wave with trivial modification. And it is applicable to hull shape development for better seakeeping performance and to determine the size and the position of hydrofoils for the attitude control.

  • The brake system is very important part of the machine working. If the machine can't be stopped, it would be serious accident. It is the same as the ship. The mooring winch brake hold the ship in harbor. But sometimes it appeared the excessive stress and brake lining would be broken. So it is necessary to change the shape of brake system with improve the braking power. This study carried out research on optimum design like as moved the position of link pin or modified the thickness of brake band and lining.

  • This study contains the CFD analysis to predict the flow in engine room and utilize the results as a reference for arranging smoke detectors. FLUENT, a commercial CFD code is adopted because of its good application experience in DSME(Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co.. Ltd.). The target is the engine room of VLCC. which was delivered in 2002. The model for analysis includes main structure elements, ventilation ducts, main engine and other big size equipment. From the analysis results, the internal flow pattern can be observed and some guidelines for the position of smoke detectors cane be presented.

  • Stereoscopic PTV and Stereoscopic-PIV measurements have been carried out for the studies of the wake of a ship's propeller. Stereoscopic photogrammetry based on a 3D-PTV principle was introduced using two high-definition cameras(1k x 1k, 30Hz). The arrangement of the two cameras was based on angular position. The pair-matching of the three-dimensional velocity vectors were based on Genetic Algorithm based 3D-PTV technique. The results obtained by both measurement systems have been compared at the advance ratio J=0.88(290 rpm, d=54 mm). Turbulent properties have also been compared each other at the same condition.

  • Dynamic Positioning (DP) is used to automatically maintain the position and heading of a floating structure subjected to environmental disturbances. A DP control system is composed of a motion controller to compute the desired force and moment and a thrust allocator to distribute the computed force and moment to multiple thrusters considering mechanical and operational constraints. Among various thruster configurations, azimuth thrusters or propeller/rudder pairs tend to make the allocation problem difficult to solve, because these types of propulsion systems include nonlinear constraints. In this paper, a dynamic positioning strategy for a twin-thruster ship that is propelled by two azimuthing thrusters is addressed, and a thrust allocation method which does not require a numerical optimization solver is proposed. The applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated with an experiment using an autonomous boat.
