선형 변단면 기둥의 좌굴하중 및 후좌굴 거동 (Buckling Loads and Post-Buckling Behavior of Linear Tapered Columns)

  • This paper deals with the geometrical non-linear analyses of the buckled columns. Differential equations governing elasticas of the buckled columns are derived, in which both effects of taper type and shear deformation are included. Three kinds of taper types such as breadth, depth and square tapers are considered. Differential equations are solved numerically to obtain the elasticas and buckling loads of such columns. End constraint of both clamped ends and both hinged ends are considered. The effects of shear deformation on the elastica of the buckled column and buckling load of column are investigated extensively. Experimental studies are presented that complement theoretical results of non-linear responses of the elasticas.

  • The lower toughness or brittle materials for mechanical test lead to the additional requirement that applied displacements be controlled with high resolution. Biaxial tension and shear tester using stepper motor with harmonic driver is shown. The device had to be high resolution so that the crack initiation process of slow extension and steady growth could be examined, Grip plates were connected to a linear bearing and actuator. The actuators consisted of stepper motors with harmonic driver connected to pre-loaded ball screw and nut assemblies. The encoders and motor controllers were connected to a personal computer so that arbitrary displacements histories could he prescribed in normal and tangential directions. The linear bearings were used to react loads perpendicular to their axes while allowing low friction, parallel movement of the attached grips. Load cells measured the reactions normal and tangential. the loads measured the reactions were recorded by the computer.

  • The dynamic response of symmetric cross-ply and angle-ply composite laminated plates under impact loads is investigated using a higher order shear deformation theory. A modified Hertz law is used to predict the impact loads and a four node finite element is used to model the plate. By using a higher order shear deformation theory, the out-of-plane shear stresses, which can be a crucial factor in the failure of composite plates, are determined with significant accuracy. The results compared with previous investigations showed good agreement. The effect of ply sequence and ply angle on the contact force is also studied.

  • Most of tall apartment buildings constructed in our county are wall-type R/C structures composed of hear walls and slabs. It is necessary to evaluate of hysteretic properties of shear walls in wall-type R/C structures which resist lateral loads as well as axial loads. In this study, first to evaluate the wall's hysteretic behavior nonlinear analyses with IDARC 4.0 are performed for eight specimens subjected to horizontal load reversals. As a result of nonlinear analyses of specimens we can obtain three parameters which determined the hysteretic parameters such as stiffness degrading, strength deterioration and inching behavior respectively. With this three parameters, strength and deformation capacity of 5, 10, 20-story shear wall of apartment building is estimated from the results of push-over analysis.

  • The objective of this study is to predict the nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete shear walls, with the reinforcement uniformly distributed, under reversed cyclic loads. This study introduces joint Element Model which formulates the pulling out of rebars, slipping and intrusion of junction planes. The applicability of this study was experimental verfied by specimens SW1, SW2 and SW3 tested by authors, Wall1 by Paulay, SW16 and SW19 by Sheu. In almost specimen, the ratio of analytical to experimental maximum shear stress is within approximately 5%. In case of energy dissipation and maximum drift, the analytical results fully coincide with those of experiment.

Buckling analysis of partially embedded pile in elastic soil using differential transform method

  • The parts of pile, above the soil and embedded in the soil are called the first region and second region, respectively. The forth order differential equations of both region for critical buckling load of partially embedded pile with shear deformation are obtained using the small-displacement theory and Winkler hypothesis. It is assumed that the behavior of material of the pile is linear-elastic and that axial force along the pile length and modulus of subgrade reaction for the second region to be constant. Shear effect is included in the differential equations by considering shear deformation in the second derivative of the elastic curve function. Critical buckling loads of the pile are calculated for by differential transform method (DTM) and analytical method, results are given in tables and variation of critical buckling loads corresponding to relative stiffness of the pile are presented in graphs.

  • Results of an experimental investigation of low-rise reinforced concrete shear walls with barbell cross section under cyclic loads are discussed and evaluated. Four halr scale models of test specimens with height to length ratio of 0.75 were experimented. The dimension of all walls is 1500mm wide $\times$ 950 mm high $\times$ 100 mm thick and the section of all boundary column at both ends is 200 mm $\times$ 200mm. Main variables are : design concept, vertical flexural reinflrcement ratios and reinforcement details(including crossed diagonal shear reinforcement in SW7 specimen). In SW7 specimen, maximum strength and consequently dissipating energy index were 1.45 and 1.28 times greater than those of SW6 specimen, respectively.

고강도 철근 콘크리트 깊은 보의 전단거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Shear Behavior of High Strength Concrete Deep Beam)

  • The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the shear behavior of high-strength concrete deep beam and to grasp the conservatism of ACI Building Code. Experimental results on 12 deep beams under two equal symmetrically placed point loads are reported. Main variables are vertical and horizontal web reinforcement and shear span-to-overall depth ratio. Test results indicated that web reinforcement dose not affect on formation of inclined cracks but shear span-to-overall depth ratio affect on inclined shear cracks and ultimate shear strength. Addition of vertical web reinforcement improves ultimate shear strength of H.S.C. deep beams that shear span-to-overall depth ratio is 1.0. Considerable increase in ultimate shear strength of H.S.C. deep beams with increasing horizontal web reinforcement that shear span-to-overall depth ratio is 0.5. Especially with increasing concrete strength($f_{ck}$) the ACI code is conservative in estamating the ultimate shear strength of deep beams.

  • Results of 61 framed reinforced concrete shear walls with openings were reviewed to evaluate the current design provisions for nominal shear strength. Provisions for ACI 318-02 and AIJ Code pertaining to shear design of shear walls evaluated the applicability of shear walls with openings subjected to lateral and vertical loads. Evaluation of test results indicates that the nominal unit shear strength($\Psi$=1.0) calculated using the provisions of ACI and AIJ does not represent the observed shear strength well. Based on the limited database considered in this study, A reasonable lower bound to the shear strength of high-strength concrete shear walls is found to be $1.09\sqrt{f_{cu}}$ kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
