Analysis of the Warm Shrink Fitting Process for Assembling the Part(Shaft and Output Gear) (단품(축/OUTPUT 기어)조립을 위한 온간압입공정 해석)

  • Fitting process carried out in the automobile transmission assembly line is classified into three classes; heat fitting, press fitting, and their combined fitting. Heat fitting is a method that heats gear to a suitable range under the tempering temperature and squeezes it toward the outer diameter of shaft. Its stress depends on the yield strength of gear. Press fitting is a method that generally squeezes gear toward that of shaft at room temperature by a press. Another method heats warmly gear and safely squeezes it toward that of shaft. Warm shrink fitting process for the automobile transmission part is now gradually increased, but the parts (shaft/gear) assembled by this process produced dimensional changes in both the outer diameter and profile of the gear. So that it may cause noise and vibration between gears. In order to solve these problems, we need an analysis of warm shrink fitting process, in which design parameters are involved; contact pressure according to fitting interference between outer diameter of shaft and inner diameter of gear, fitting temperature, and profile tolerance of gear. In this study, an closed form equation to predict contact pressure and fitting load was proposed in order to develop an optimization technique of the warm shrink fitting process and verified its reliability through the experimental results measured in the field and FEM, that is, thermal-structural coupled field analysis. Actual loads measured in the field was in good agreements with the results obtained by the theoretical and finite element analysis.

  • In the design of a rotor shaft, care should be taken to minimize vibration by taking into account the sources of vibration. In addition, the intensity critical speed, stability, and other related aspects of the system must be considered. especially when it is operated at a critical speed, it is important to address issues related to vibration, as an increase in the whirling response of the rotor shaft can cause damage to the shaft, destruction of the rotor parts, and detrimental abrasions on the bearings. In this thesis, the vibration characteristics of a rotor shaft are investigated through the use of the finite element method. Variations of the diameters and lengths were used to determine the effect of a rotor shaft using Beam No.188(3D linear strain beam) in ANSYS version 11.0 as a universal interpretation program for finite elements. Special care was taken to prevent excessive vibration, which can result from resonance at the initial stage, in the formulation of a dynamic design for a rotor shaft through calculations while changing the diameters and the lengths of the shaft. Moreover, the dynamic characteristics of the critical speed, total mass, D/L(diameter to length) ratio, and natural frequency were verified. Furthermore, the rotor shaft applied by bearing element was calculated and compared by using Combi No. 214(2-D spring-damper bearing).

  • In this study, static end loading tests with load transfer measurement were accomplished for large diameter drilled shaft constructed in fault zone. Yield pile capacity (or ultimate pile capacity) from load-settlement curve was determined and axial load transfer behavior was measurd. The end bearing capacity was increased 2 times due to grouting the toe ground under pile base.

  • In this study, the nose of cam in the automobile engine was modelled into circular disk to analyze the torsional vibration of the cam shaft. The distance between disks was fixed, but the diameter of disks was changed. The torsional vibration of the cam shaft was studied experimentally by the motion of the modelled disk with changing the disk diameter. And the sizes of the modelled disk were selected not to show the natural frequencies over all the experimental ranges. The torsional vibration meter used in this study has a laser system with non-contact measurement method, which can measure both torsional angular vibration velocity and torsional angular vibration displacement simultaneously. The Experimental analysis shows that the characteristics of the torsional vibration in the horizontal rotating shaft can be considerably affected by the arrangement of the modelled disks.

  • In this study, the micro shaft was fabricated by high speed etching process. The integration of the kinetic energy of circumference and the effect of etching takes less time to fabricate the micro shaft than any other conventional methods. First, the end part of the rod(SKD11) was dipped in chemical solution(FeCl$_3$) and the rod rotated at high speed(3500-10000rpm). Experimental setup was simply composed of high speed motor. chemical solution and $\Phi$ 1 mm rod. The main factors of diameter control are chemical concentration, reaction time and rpm. has a result. the diameter of the dipped rod was decreased by 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ by high speed rotation and its shape and surface was good. From this experiment, we found the possibility to manufacture micro shaft without very expensive equipment.

A Study on Behavior Analysis of Large-diameter Drilled Shaft by Design Methods in Deep Water Depth Composite Foundation (대수심 대형 복합기초에서 설계기법에 따른 대구경 현장타설말뚝의 거동 분석 연구)

  • In the long span bridge construction, construction cost portion of large scale marine foundation is about 40% (KICTEP, 2007). In this study, designs for deep water depth large composite foundation of a super long span cable-stayed girder bridge of prototype were performed by three design methods (ASD, LRFD, Eurocode) and the behaviors of a large diameter drilled shaft were analyzed and the 3D numerical analysis was performed. As a result, the soft rock socket lengths in allowable stress design estimation method were the longest. The soft rock socket lengths estimated by the design approach 2 among Eurocode and the LRFD were similar. The longer the socket length socketed in the soft rock was, the smaller the axial force acting on a large-diameter drilled shaft head was and the smaller the settlement of drilled shaft was.

  • The lateral bearing characteristics of large diameter drilled shaft depend greatly on the stiffness of the pile, horizontal subgrade reaction of adjacent ground. In particular, the empirical evaluation results of the horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient which are widely used in pile design are very important factors in evaluating the lateral bearing capacity of drilled shaft because the difference in bearing capacity depends on the estimated result. Nevertheless, the evaluation of the horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient on the large diameter drilled shaft is insufficient. In addition, although the range of influence and the location of the maximum moment which is the weaken zone on the pile may be correlated and relationship of these are major consideration in determining the reinforced zone of drilled shaft, the previous studies have not been evaluated it. In this study, the field test and nonlinear analysis of large diameter drilled shaft were performed to evaluate the horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient and to investigate the relationship between the influence range 1/β of the pile and the location of the maximum moment zm. In the result, the lateral bearing capacity of drilled shaft showed a difference in results by about 190% according to the empirical equation on the horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient. And the relationship between the influence range of the pile and the location of the maximum moment was evaluated as a linear relationship depending on the soil density.

  • To meet tight tolerance requirements of mass produced shafts which are subcomponents of automobile parts, an automated measuring system has been developed. The system comprises of a non-contact shaft diameter measuring instrument using laser, a feed mechanism of a step motor and ball screw and a personal computer. The system can determine pass-fail of the piece under test and also analyze data for statistical process control.
