User-Body Shadowing Analysis Technique in Ship Environment Based on the Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (균일 회절 이론을 이용한 선박 환경에서의 단말기 사용자 쉐도잉 분석 기법)

  • The Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction(UTD) is an effective technique to analyze the radio wave by ray-based calculation of the diffraction coefficient and the reflection coefficient. In this paper, user body shadowing based on the UTD is investigated when the user is close to the mobile device. Two cases are introduced. One is that the user is calling with the mobile attached to the ear(Head Model). The other is that the mobile is located about 15cm away from the user's chest(Chest Model) Radiation Model and Scattering Model are applied to these cases presenting which model is applicable.

  • The shadowing effects lead to the serious power losses of the PV module. The shadowing effects are caused by several factors such as leafs, dust, antenna and clouds. The dye-sensitized solar cells are more economical than the conventional silicon solar cell that's why the dye-sensitized solar cells are recently focused on. We carried out research on the efficiency of the dye-sensitized solar cell depending on the level of shadow changing the formula of the circuit. The research on the efficiency of the large dye-sensitized solar cell depending on the level of shadow focused on commercialization was carried out. As the results, it is known that the series and parallel connection method is the best choice for the least losses of PV module assemblies. It is especially known that one more series connection is the best choice for the least losses about shadowing effects and current losses in the series and parallel connection.

  • This paper introduces a novel real-time soft shadowing method applicable for height maps. As well as supporting self-shadowing of the height map, our method allows shadows to be caught on other objects. The method is very suitable for dynamically changing height maps because it requires no precomputation. A shadow height map (SHM) is a new structure which represents the height of the shadow at each discretized coordinate of a height map. Constructing the SHM is O(n), where n is the number of texels in the SHM. Shadow can be computed from this map quickly and simply, using a pixel shader. Examples demonstrate good real-time performance and plausible visual quality.

  • In this paper, the performance of DS /SSMA BPSK communication system with maximal ratio combining microscopic diversity and selection macroscopic diversity is analyzed. The effects of Rayleigh fading and log normal shadowing on system performance are analyzed, and the validity of microscopic and macroscopic diversity to mitigate the two fading effects are estimated. The increase of the number of chips is effective for mitigating log norma; shadowing, while the increase of the order of microscopic diversity is not. And the higher the standard deviation of shadowing, the more effective the macroscopic diversity.

  • In recent years, the research and development for the photovoltaic(PV) energy system are making rapidly progress around the world and specially this country, too due the deregulation law for the renewable energy system seems to be born sooner or later. In PV generation system, the partially shaded PV array is the one of the worst case which reduces the efficiency of the total PV generation system. The partial shaded condition is the result of shadowing by cloud and dust building of on the surface of the panel. Some structural elements, such as antennas, booms etc. is also the reason of the shadowing. Even if only a small part of PV is shaded, the overall generation power of PV is significantly decreased. Therefore, several researchers who are focusing on the PV generation system take a time for the research related with the shadowing problem of PV array. In this paper, authors have developed the method which users can achieved the modeling of partially shaded PV array with. With several papers authors have already announced the availability of the EMTDC/PSCAD PV panel model component. This research result is the developed version of the previous papers.

The Study on the Performance of DS/CDMA with a Suppressed Pilot Channel in Mobile Satellite Communication System (이동위성 통신 시스템에서 억압 파일롯트 채널을 이용한 DS / CDMA의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we have carried out the DS/CDMA with a suppressed pilot channel, which is used in receiving coherently with Rake diversity and in synchronizing the chip timing, in the mobile satellite communication. Also, we have investigated the envelope variation of a shadowed Rician fading simulator, and analyzed the error performences of DS/CDMA in the mobile satellite communication. The results showed that the error performance in the Heavy shadowing environment might be degraded more than in the Rayleigh fading environment since the fading envelopes in the former environment are varied randomly compared with those in the latter environment. And the performence of DS/CDMA system could be improved about 10 dB compared with that of narrowband QPSK system. In conclusion, DS/CDMA with a suppressed pilot channel had the best performance in the case of the suppressed pilot channel to transmission power ratio $\beta$=-8 dB, the number of complex delay profiles $N_{profile}$=32, and using these values, the error performance of DS/CDMA in Light shadowing environment was identical to the ideal QPSK error performance.

  • In this paper, for the reverse link of a imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA cellular system when a mobile radio channel is a Rayleigh distributed multipath fading channel, A extended DS/CDMA blocking probability formula considering both shadowing and multipath fading is derived. Erlang capacity and equivalent channel number considering shadowing are analyzed and compared with those considering both shadowing and multipath fading, respectively. The DS/CDMA blocking probability is calculated based on the analysis method that obtains Erlang capacity and ICF(interference correction factor) using the median value of $E_{b(i)}$/ $I_{0}$ corresponding to each reverse link user Assuming that the blocking probability set 2%, it is observed that the Erlang capacity is 19.97 Erlang at the data rate $R_{b}$=9.6 kbps and 11.67 Erlang at the data rate $R_{b}$=14.4 kbps and then is less 16% and 19% than the Erlang capacity considering shadowing only, respectively. It is also shown that the effect of multipath fading must not be ignored and then exact Erlang capacity and equivalent channel numbers that the DS/CDMA cellular system can support are provided.d.d.d.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how the college students of the beauty department changed their perspective about jobs, career development, and self-reflection in the process of job shadowing. We selected 8 students who were enrolled in the beauty department of a college located in the capital area and conducted individual in-depth interviews with them. According to the result of the study, First, participants have learned attitude, knowledge, competence, and an important matter necessary to achieve a excellent performance in the beauty job. In particular, they figured out that a core competency for a successful beauty job is to share a social relationship with the clients. Second, they recognized that doing a beauty job is very tough and then set a criteria to make a decision of their future job. Doing a Job shadowing made them being change in the area of job and their job perspective. Finally, they looked themselves back how they are satisfying with developing their career at the beauty department. This study is significantly meaningful in that it contextually showed how the college students are developing their job careers through an indirect job experience from a constructive point of view. Moreover, this study is different from the existing studies focusing on student's direct work experiences such as the existing internship programs, which focused on exploring the student's indirect work experience and the process of their vicarious learning. The result of the current study has a practical implication in terms of providing a basic perspective for career education for students of colleges.
