농촌 지역에서 유입 유량이 소규모 하수처리장 처리 효율에 미치는 영향 (Effect of sewage flow on treatment efficiency of small scale wastewater treatment plant in rural community)

  • 농촌 지역 하수도 보급은 하천, 호소 및 습지와 같은 수계 수질 보호를 위해서 반드시 필요하다. 또한 안정적인 소규모 하수처리장 운영을 위해서는 유입 유량과 농도의 변화가 큰 소규모 하수도 특성을 고려해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 봉화군 18개의 소규모 하수처리장 운전 결과를 통해 유입유량비 (유입 유량 / 설계 유량) 특성, 소규모 하수처리장 처리 효율에 미치는 영향과 적정 유입유량비 산정에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 분석 결과 유입유량비는 여름철에 가장 높은 것으로 나타난 반면, 유입 하수 농도는 가을철과 겨울철에 높은 것으로 나타났다. 유입유량비가 증가할수록 처리 효율이 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 영양염류 처리 효율이 유기물과 부유물질 처리 효율에 비해 민감한 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 안정적인 소규모 하수처리장 처리 효율을 위해서는 유입유량비 0.8 이상을 유지해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 최근 농촌지역은 급속도로 발전하고 있으나 기존의 기반시설은 발전하는 농촌실정에 비해 부족하고, 노후화 되어있다. 그 중 가장 대표적인 것이 하수관거 시스템이다. 본 연구에서는 경기도 A시의 농촌지역을 연구대상 지역으로 선정하여 하수관거 정비사업이 하수처리장 운영에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석항목은 유입하수량의 변화와 대표 오염물질 항목에 대한 하수농도, 유입하수 부하, C/N비 마지막으로 오염물질 처리효율을 비교 분석하였다. 분석결과 농촌지역 개발로 하수 발생량이 증가하였으며, 하수관거 개량 및 신설로 하수관거 내 불명수의 유입차단 및 관리가 향상되어 하수처리장내 고농도의 하수 유입으로 하수 부하량이 증가한 것으로 사료되며, 이는 C/N비 증가와 더불어 TN 및 TP 제거효율의 개선까지 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다. 향 후 본 연구 결과는 농촌지역의 하수관거 정비사업이 하수처리장의 운영에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 대표적인 사례로 활용될 수 있다.

하수처리수 재이용을 위한 막분리 공정시 응집조건에 따른 투과효율 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flux Efficiency on Membrane for Water Reclamination according to Coagulations)

  • The objectives of this research are to investigate the proper coagulation conditions which are a type and doses of coagulants, mixing conditions (velocity gradients and mixing times), pH and so on through Jar-test, to evaluate the flux variations, permeate, backwashing according to characteristics of pretreatment of the wastewater by means of MF membranes for river maintenance water reuse. The effluent water from B-city K-sewage treatment plant are used for this research. Turbidity and suspended solids(SS) are 14.2 NTU and 10.4 mg/L respectively. This condition causes fouling for membrane process. The flux decline could be reduced when coagulation pretreatment was carried out. Optimal coagulations PAC which are commonly used in the sewage treatment plant was observed in this research. The results indicate that an optimal coagulation dose and pH are 80 ppm and pH of 7 respectively, but coagulation efficiency was lower at strong acid or strong base. Results showed that continuous and steady operations in membrane separation process by means of the effective removal of organic matter and turbidity with coagulation pretreatment of sewage secondary effluent were achieved.

안정적 유출수질의 연속 하수처리를 위한 혐기성 멤브레인 필터와 통합된 미생물연료전지의 성능 평가 (Performance of Microbial Fuel Cell Integrated with Anaerobic Membrane Filter for Continuous Sewage Treatment with Stable Effluent Quality)

  • A new type of microbial fuel cell (MFC) with anaerobic membrane filter was designed to produce bioelectricity and to treat domestic sewage at relatively high organic loading rate (OLR) of $6.25kgCOD/m^3/day$ and short hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 1.9 h. A following aeration system was applied to ensure effluent water quality in continuous operation. Glucose was supplemented to increase the influent concentration of domestic sewage. Influent substrate of 95% was removed via the MFC and following aeration system and the corresponding maximum power density was $25.6mW/m^3$. External resistor of $200{\Omega}$ and air-cathode system contributed better MFC performance comparing to $2000{\Omega}$ and dissolved oxygen as a catholyte.

하수처리수 이용 열원시스템의 경제성 평가 (Economic Evaluation on Energy System Using Treated Sewage Water)

  • It has become important for unutilized energy to be used for air conditioning of building. Economic evaluation on energy system by using treated sewage water as heat source, which is one of unutilized energy, was performed. The floor area of the subject building and the distance between heat source equipment and sewage treatment plant was assumed $30,000m^2$ and 200m. Absorption chiller-heater system was used for comparing to the energy efficient system, and payback period method was applied to carry out economic evaluation. Although the operating cost of this system is reduced compared to general heat source system, the ratio is not meaningful compared to the initial investment cost increase, and payback period was calculated to be about 36.1 years. However, when calculated based on the 2014 rate of electricity and city gas, it will be greatly reduced to 3.1 years. International commodity prices are constantly changing, and therefore national policy on the spread of unutilized energy should be maintained.

  • The evaluation of the effluent water quality of sewage treatment plant is one of the most important factor in calculating total maximum daily loads (TMDLs). Current method to calculate 95% upper limit of effluent water quality of sewage treatment plant assuming normal distribution of data needs to be implemented in case of non-normal distribution. We have investigated the applicability of percentile ranking method as a non-parametric statistical analysis in case of non-normal distribution of data.

SBR을 이용한 선박오수 고도처리장치 개발 (Shipboard sewage treatment using Sequence Batch Reactor)

  • 본 연구에서는 선박오수 고도처리시스템 개발을 목적으로 SBR 공법을 도입하여 선박용 오수처리장치를 제작한 후 성능 평가를 수행하였다. Lab scale 과 Pilot Plant 규모의 기초 실험을 토대로 제작한 시제품은 시운전 결과 IMO의 Res.MEPC.159(55) 성능 기준을 충분히 만족시켰으며, 질소와 인의 동시처리도 가능하여 강화되어 가는 해양환경기준을 충분히 만족시킬 수 있을 것으로 평가되었다. 선박오수와 유사한 실 하폐수를 대상으로 한 제품 가동 결과 유기물의 경우 90% 이상, 질소와 인의 경우 50% 이상의 처리 효율을 나타내었으며, 운전 기간 내내 안정적인 처리 효율을 보이며 선박이라는 특수한 환경과의 접목성도 매우 우수한 시스템으로 확인되었다.

하수도서비스 평가지표 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구 (The Development and Application of the Performance Indicator for Sewage System Service in Korea)

  • With rapid expansion of the water market and growth of water companies, the recent trends in international water industry show that standardization of service activities concerning management of water and wastewater system (ISO/TC 224, to be issued in the second half year of 2007) is expected to have a large influence on the global water market including liberalization of water service market. In the Draft International Standard(DIS) of ISO/TC224, Performance Indicators(PIs) are suggested to estimate the service activities relating to water and wastewater treatment facilities. PIs have been developed in many countries including some international organization(World Bank, IWA and etc.) for service benchmarking. To evaluate public service level and establish plans to improve service level of wastewater utilities, we developed PIs for 120 items and applied them to 10 sewage utilities in the consideration of their scales, circumstances and conditions. In this study, we verified the applicability of the developed performance indicators(PIs). So, we concluded that PIs developed for the purpose of this study can be a useful tool applicable to objective evaluation of the service level of sewage utilities. Using the evaluation tool of PIs developed, it can also be used as a benchmarking tool in this industry as well as for enhancing the efficiency of operation and management of the sewage system. It will also contribute to the water resource management through determination of investment priorities based on the evaluation results and to raising international competitiveness of the domestic sewage utilities to meet the future opening of the water market.

하수슬러지 처리 실규모 중온 혐기성 소화조 미생물 군집 및 다양성 조사 (Microbial Communities and Diversities in a Full-Scale Mesophilic Anaerobic Digester Treating Sewage Sludge )

  • This study investigated microbial communities and their diversity in a full-scale mesophilic anaerobic digester treating sewage sludge. Influent sewage sludge and anaerobic digester samples collected from a wastewater treatment plant in Busan were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. It was found that the microbial community structure and diversity in the anaerobic digester could be affected by inoculation effect with influent sewage sludge. Nevertheless, distinct microbial communities were identified as the dominant microbial communities in the anaerobic digester. Twelve genera were identified as abundant bacterial communities, which included several groups of syntrophic bacteria communities, such as Candidatus Cloacimonas, Cloacimonadaceae W5, Smithella, which are (potential) syntrophic-propionate-oxidizing bacteria and Mesotoga and Thermovigra, which are (potential) syntrophic-acetate-oxidizing bacteria. Lentimicrobium, the most abundant genus in the anaerobic digester, may contribute to the decomposition of carbohydrates and the production of volatile fatty acids during the anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge. Of the methanogens identified, Methanollinea, Candidatus Methanofastidiosum, Methanospirillum, and Methanoculleus were the dominant hydrogenotrophic methanogens, and Methanosaeta was the dominant aceticlastic methanogens. The findings may be used as a reference for developing microbial indicators to evaluate the process stability and process efficiency of the anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge.

  • This study is to develop and operate the R-FCE(Real-time Fuzzy Control Expert System) model on the SBR(Sequency Batch Reactors) type sewage disposal facility which is for the environmental problem of future and the effective treatment. It is the system that regularly handles the input, output information in real time by the Fuzzy control IF-THEN rule. Nowadays the water pollution caused by the increase of population and the industrialization already exceeds the purifying ability of nature and is getting worse. The sewage disposal facility needs an expert having wide experience and know-how because the quality or quantity of inflow water is so irregular that the process of sewage disposal is difficult. In the nation, however, the accumulation of technology is so weak because field-operators avoid the long-term duty. So the accurate and speedy decision or control of field are difficult in the case of emergency situation.
