국제단위제도에 대한 초등학교 예비 교사들의 이해 (The Preservice Teachers등 Understanding of the International System of Units)

  • This paper aims to examine how well university students, who are going to be primary school teachers, understand the International System of Units (SI), focusing on seven basic units such as 'm', '㎏', '㏖', 'A', 'K', 's', 'cd'. This study specifically investigates whether the students know the seven units and understand their uses and how they read and learn them. The subjects were 1030 students from the University of Education in Jinju, Geongsangnamdo. Data was collected through a questionnaire which was designed by this researcher and checked by an authority, and the frequency and percentage of reponses to each question were obtained and analysed. Findings show all the students knew very well that 'm' and '㎏' are included in the seven units, compared to the others which low percentage of the students considered as the elements. In terms of understanding of use, the units of the length 'm', the mass '㎏', and the time 's' are well understood, presumably, because they are often used in ordinary life and school, while the amount of substance '㏖', the electric current 'A', the thermodynamic temperature 'K', and the luminous intensity 'cd' are not as well understood. It is probably because 'A', 'cd', and 'K' are hardly used in everyday life. With respect to reading the units, the subjects read 'm', '㎏', '㏖', and's' much better than the others. As for the source of learning them, most students answered they learned them in schools, which implies school education is very important. From these results it is concluded that school education should be accompanied with use in everyday life for understanding and using the units. SI Base Units understanding was investigated by an academic year. According to this investigation, generally the right answer rate differed 4<2<3<1 by an academic year in order. For the Senior, Sophomore appeared the right answer rate more high. because, they learned before in deepening or elementary course on chemistry and physics related with SI Base Units. On the other hand, for the junior answered low rate by this reason that they couldn't remember about SI Base Units that learned before. For the Freshman appeared low rate by this reason that they were not learned or graduated from the department of liberal art in high school.

중년기 복합부위통증증후군 환자의 삶의 경험 (Lived Experience of Middle-Aged Patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)

  • Purpose: This qualitative study aimed to explore the lived and true meaning of experiences of middle-aged patients with complex regional pain syndrome. Methods: The participants were 10 men and women aged 40 to 60 years who received outpatient treatment at a university hospital, could communicate, and agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected through individual interviews using open and semi-structured questions from September 2019 to July 2021 and were analyzed using the content analysis method suggested by Hsieh and Shannon (2005). Results: As a result of this study, 42 summarized semantic units related to life experience, 15 subthemes, and seven themes were derived. The seven themes were "pressed by severe pain," "frustrated because I cannot be part of the community," "distressed because people do not recognize my disease," "sad about conflicts with family," "unmotivated because of desperate life," "appreciating for support," and "putting oneself together and living daily life." Conclusion: The vivid experiences of the participants derived in this study are the basic data for developing treatment guidelines. In the future, we propose a study on life and family care experiences according to the developmental characteristics of the life cycle of patients with complex regional pain syndrome and develop and apply programs to support patients and their families.

이동형 전산화단층촬영장치의 기본 안전 및 필수 성능 기준을 마련하기 위한 연구 (A Study on Establishment of Basic Safety and Essential Performance Criteria of Mobile Computed Tomography)

  • As the number of Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) patients increases in a global pandemic situation, the usefulness of mobile computed tomography (CT) is gaining attention. Currently, mobile CT follows the basic safety and essential performance evaluation criteria of whole-body or limited-view X-ray CT in order to obtain device approval and evaluation in the Republic of Korea. Unlike stationary CT, mobile CT is not operated in shielded areas but rather areas such as intensive care units, operating rooms, or isolation rooms. Therefore, it requires a different basic safety and essential performance evaluation standard than stationary CT. In this study, four derived basic safety evaluation criteria related to electrical, mechanical, and radiation safety were included (dose indication test, protection against stray radiation, safety measures against excessive X-rays, half-value layer measurement); and seven essential performance evaluation criteria were included (tube voltage accuracy, mAs accuracy, radiation dose reproducibility, CT number of water, noise, uniformity, and spatial resolution); total eleven basic safety and essential performance evaluation criteria were selected. This study aims to establish appropriate basic safety and essential performance evaluation criteria for simultaneously obtaining images with diagnostic value and reducing the exposure of nearby patients, medical staff, and radiologic technologists during the use of mobile CT.

초등 예비교사들의 법정계량단위에 대한 이해 (The Understanding of Elementary Pre-Service Teachers' on Legal Units)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 초등예비교사들의 법정계량단위에 대한 관심과 지식정도를 알아보는 것이었다. C 교대 초등예비교사 1,096명을 대상으로 법정계량단위에 대한 인식과 관심, 학년별, 성별, 계열별로 얼마만큼 알고 있는지를 설문을 통하여 변인별 빈도와 백분율(%)과 교차분석($x^2$)을 산출하여 분석해 보았다. 법정계량단위사용의 시기에 대한 관심은 52.1%가 잘 알지 못하였고, 단위사용에 대한 혼란을 느낀 경험을 60.1% 갖고 있다고 하였다. 시행공포후의 반응에서는 절반이상이 별 달라진 것이 없다고 대답하였다. 법정계량단위 사용의 정착을 위한 노력은 방송매체, 수업시간 그리고 캠페인, 연수의 순으로 습득해야한다고 하였다. 법정계량단위에 대하여 학년별, 성별 그리고 문과, 이과계열출신별로 지식정도를 알아본 결과로는 길이와, 넓이, 부피, 질량 단위 등은 학년별, 성별 그리고 이과, 문과계열출신별에 관계없이 따른 지식정도는 잘 알고 있었다. 3학년의 정답률이 가장 높았고 지식 정도 순서로는 3>4>2>1 순으로 나타났다. 3학년의 경우 교육과정상 단위 관련 과목을 배운 시기가 얼마 되지 않아 정답률이 높은 것으로 사료된다. 성별의 경우는 남학생보다 여학생이 정답률이 높았다. 온도는 남자가 정답을 택한 경우가 많았으며 여학생은 한 명도 정답을 선택하지 않았다. 시간의 경우 여학생들의 정답률이 남학생보다 2.7배 이상으로 높았다. 문과, 이과계출신별 지식정도는 부피와, 빛의 밝기는 동일하였고 온도를 제외하고는 예상과 달리 문과 계열출신학생이 정답률이 높았다. 특히 광도를 나타내는 SI단위인 '칸델라(cd)'보다 생활 속에서 사용하는 '럭스' 단위를 혼동하여 사용하는 것 같다. SI 기본단위는 학년별, 성별 그리고 문과, 이과계열별에 관계없이 잘 모르고 있었다. 또한 생활 속에서 쉽게 접하고 있는 유리 및 보조단위를 기준단위와 혼동하여 쓰는 경우도 확인할 수 있었다. 그래서 학생들이 자연스럽게 단위 학습이 될 수 있도록 지속적인 노력이 필요하다고 생각한다. 또한 정부의 미온적인 대처가 제도정착을 지연시키는 한 원인이 되기도 하므로 정부는 제도정착을 위해서 다른 나라의 경우를 거울삼아 하루빨리 정착 할 수 있도록 적극적인 노력을 해야 한다.

육군 훈련병의 근골격계 증상 영향 요인 (Factors Influencing Musculoskeletal Symptoms in Military Personnel during Basic Combat Training)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine physical, psycho-social, and individual factors influencing musculoskeletal symptoms among Korean military trainees. Methods: Using a correlation study design, military trainees who had completed almost of all the basic combat training (BCT) days were recruited from two military training units selected by convenience sampling. Data from 415 participants were analyzed. Results: Prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms was 29.6% defined as a participant having pain or discomfort in one or more body parts during training hours for more than seven consecutive days. Back/pelvic (10.8%), knees (10.1%), shoulders (7.7%), feet/toes (5.6%), ankles (4.8%) were prone to musculoskeletal symptoms. Musculoskeletal symptoms appeared to be related to physical exertion during BCT, stress during BCT, social support from fellow trainees, or previous musculoskeletal injuries. In the logistic regression model, physical exertion during BCT (OR=2.27, 95% CI: 1.42~3.65), stress during BCT (OR=1.79, 95% CI: 1.15~2.78), and previous musculoskeletal injuries (OR=1.58, 95% CI: 1.01~2.47) were the significant factors affecting prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms. Conclusion: Findings indicate that physical exertion and psycho-social stress should be managed to prevent musculoskeletal symptoms in military trainees with more attention being given to trainees having a history of musculoskeletal injuries.

개인 휴대 단말기 (PDA)를 기반으로 한 휴대용 E-Nose의 개발 (A portable electronic nose (E-Nose) system using PDA device)

  • The electronic nose (e-nose) has been used in food industry and quality controls in plastic packaging. Recently it finds its applications in medical diagnosis, specifically on detection of diabetes, pulmonary or gastrointestinal problem, or infections by examining odors in the breath or tissues with its odor characterizing ability. Moreover, the use of portable e-nose enables the on-site measurements and analysis of vapors without extra gas-sampling units. This is expected to widen the application of the e-nose in various fields including point-of-care-test or e-health. In this study, a PDA-based portable e-nose was developed using micro-machined gas sensor array and miniaturized electronic interfaces. The rich capacities of the PDA in its computing power and various interfaces are expected to provide the rapid and application specific development of the diagnostic devices, and easy connection to other facilities through information technology (IT) infra. For performance verification of the developed portable e-nose system, Six different vapors were measured using the system. Seven different carbon-black polymer composites were used for the sensor array. The results showed the reproducibility of the measured data and the distinguishable patterns between the vapor species. Additionally, the application of two typical pattern recognition algorithms verified the possibility of the automatic vapor recognition from the portable measurements. These validated the portable e-nose based on PDA developed in this study.

한국어 모음 입술독해를 위한 시공간적 특징에 관한 연구 (A Study on Spatio-temporal Features for Korean Vowel Lipreading)

  • 본 논문에서는 한국어 입술독해를 위한 기반 연구로서 음성학에 기반하여 음성의 시각적 기본 단위인 viseme을 정의하고 입술의 움직임을 적절히 표현할 수 있는 특징들을 추출하여 그 성능을 분석하였다. 먼저, 다수의 화자로부터 한국어 모음에 해당하는 입술의 동영상 데이터베이스를 획득하고 각모음별 시각적 특성을 분석하여 7개의 한국어 모음 viseme을 정의하였으며 입술 윤곽선상의 특징점과 시공간적 특징 벡터들을 추출하여 은닉 마르코프 모델에 적용함으로써 효과적인 입술독해를 위한 각 특징 벡터별 성능을 비교하였다. 7개의 한국어 각 viseme에 대한 인식 실험 결과에서 입술의 안팎 윤곽선의 정보가 모두 반영된 특징 벡터가 입술독해에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있으며 윤곽선 상의 특징점들의 시간적 움직임 크기와 방향이 입술독해를 위하여 매우 중요한 요소임을 확인할 수 있었다.

군 시설 신재생에너지 보급동향과 적용방향 고찰 (An inquiry into the distribution and application plan of new-renewable energy in Military facilities)

  • South Korea having military power within the $10^{th}$ in world ranking is the biggest single institution among public institutions in Korea and comprises force of over seven hundred thousand soldiers. However, outworn equipments and efficiency problem have issued. So, this study is to search the distribution state of new-renewable energy and to analyze application plan on the basis of interview with a official in charge in military. Analysis process is the first, classify surveyed military facilities into troops and the geographical factor. Second, classify a scale and type of facilities that new-renewable energy is supplied. Third, find consideration facts on the basis of interview with a official in charge. On the results of the survey, new-renewable energy applied to the military facility is photovoltaic, solar heat, wind power and geo-thermal energy. Also, divide military into the army, navy, air force and marine, visit 14 units and analyze the official's opinion. This study will deduce LCCA(Life cycle cost analysis) considered expenses for the installation and maintenance, and will be basic research that suggest an appropriate new-renewable energy model in military.

DMZ(Demilitarized Zone) 접경지역의 문화서비스 평가 (Cultural Services Assessment in DMZ(Demilitarized Zone) Border Areas)

  • 본 연구는 접경지역 문화서비스 평가를 통해 지표와 방법론의 적절성을 고찰하고, 국내 핵심 생태자산인 접경지역의 생태계서비스 기반 관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선행연구에서 제시한 평가지표와 방법을 바탕으로 7개 시군을 평가 및 비교하였다. 문화서비스 평가 결과, 여가·관광은 파주시, 경관미는 인제군, 교육은 양구군, 유산은 인제군이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구를 통해 문화서비스의 종합적인 평가를 위한 향후 과제를 다음과 같이 제안하고자 한다. 첫째, 국가 및 광역 단위의 생태계서비스 평가를 위해서는 문화서비스 평가 및 모니터링을 위한 지표 체계 구축이 필요하다. 둘째, 문화서비스 평가 지표 체계 구축시 평가대상지역 스케일에 따른 지표 간의 상·하위 개념 단위나 일관성에 대한 검토가 선행되어야 한다. 셋째, 생태계 유형에 따라 문화서비스 평가를 위한 구체적인 DB 구축 및 활용 검토가 이루어져야 한다. 마지막으로 국내의 문화서비스 연구가 현저히 부족한 상황에서 비물질적이고 정성적인 인식을 포함한 문화서비스 평가를 위해서는 기초 연구가 지속되어야 한다. 향후 광역단위의 문화서비스 평가를 위해서는 생태계 유형별로 추가적인 기초 연구 결과 축적이 필요하며, 적절한 평가지표와 방법에 대한 새로운 접근 방법의 후속 연구가 필요하다.

의과대학 연구동에서 발생한 유행성출혈열 역학조사 (Laboratory-Acquired Infections with Hantavirus at a Research Unit of Medical School in Seoul, 1996)

  • Background : In April 6, 1990, a male researcher who has worked at a research unit at the Basic Research Building of Seoul National University(SNU) College of Medicine admitted to SNU Hospital due to persistent fever. He was diagnosed serologically as hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS). Another female researcher in the same unit was also diagnosed as HFRS at the same hospital several days later. Epidemic investigation of HFRS was conducted to determine the magnitude of the problems since these two cases were strongly suspected to have laboratory-acquired infections of HFRS. Methods : All researchers and employees working at the Basic Research Building(BRB) of SNU College of Medicine as of April 1, 1996 were recruited for the study, information on symptoms of HFRS and history of contact to experimental animals were collected by self-administered questionnaires and serological tests among study subjects were also conducted by indirect immunofluorescent antibody(IFA) to hantavirus. The experimental animals were also serologically tested for infection with hantavirus by IFA. Results : Among 218 surveyed, six researchers and an animal caretaker had hantavirus antibodies above 1:20 in IFA titer. Five of seven sero-positive subjects had antibodies above 1:640 in IFA titer and had shown clinical symptoms compatible to HFRS during Jan. 1 to Apr, 20, 1996. The sero-positive persons had handled animals more frequently than sero-negative persons (OR, 19,68; 95% Cl, 1.11-350.40) and handling animals at the animal quarter at School of Public Health(SPH) had shown consistently higher risk to get infected with hantavirus irrespective of types of animals handled (OR, 4.90-6.37). Sero-positivity of rats of the aniamal quarter at BRB was 30-60%, whereas 80% of rats at SPH tested were shown sero-positivity. Conclusion: There was a epidemic of HFRS in research units of a medical school during the period from Jan. through Apr, Further investigation is needed to determine the extent and the mode of transmission of the laboratory-acquired infection with hantavirus in other research facilities.
