This paper aims to propose a cognitive evaluation model to be utilized in designing game devices and developing relevant software with the purpose of the prevention of dementia of the elderly among various types of serious games for the elderly intending to improve their physical, mental or social capability. Firstly, a serious game for the elderly has been developed based on the guidelines of the areas pertaining to existing hardware, software and contents. Secondly, a pre-experiment of the game targeting specialists has been conducted in order to re-establish a cognitive evaluation model for the developed result. Thirdly, the cognitive evaluation model for the serious game for the elderly that intends to improve their cognitive capacity has been materialized based on the experiment results. Given the fact that the scope of game contents, most of which used to be focused on teenagers, have been gradually expanding to cover wider range of social classes than ever before, it is expected that the results of this study could be utilized as a model that can verify the games and their contents with special purposes based on the cognitive evaluation of the users.

A serious game is to design for not amusement but special aim. It can be defined of the game which have various useful aspects. It is a different game which exists important the proper function through interactive action compared to general games. English education games have a goal which is the English Study in addition to amusement. It's important one which is to have an immersiveness to be accomplished studying through games for users. In this paper, an effective analysis and design method of serious game using UML, that is Objected Oriented Analysis and Design Method, and Storyboard to develop a serious game "Guessing correctly english words over playing joyfully" is presented.

Serious games are selected by users according to the original goals such as education, treatment, training and so on. Therefore, those type of games are evaluated inside and outside the game about whether the goals are archived or not. Among quality test elements of serious game, assessment is about whether, in games, ability to verify goal achievement is included or not. In this paper, we examined the achievement-assessing function of serious game through several cases. Furthermore, to utilize for developing serious games for English learning, we designed a level system which achievement-assessing function is applied to. In this level system, we used 'competition and reward' as the core elements of game, and designed the system through simulation of which grades are level-designed along the user's English proficiency level based on notice of MEST(Ministry of Education, Science and Technology). This paper is expected to be useful reference for designing English learning game containing achievement assessing function.

In order to verify the factors affecting the acceptance of Serious Games for Healthcare (SGHs), this study developed a hierarchical model of general and specific benefit and risk factors affecting the intention to use SGHs based on the valence framework. As a result based on 199 samples, it was revealed that perceived customization and perceived schedule flexibility had a positive effect on the perceived benefits, which, in turn, had a positive effect on the intention to use SGHs. However, among the specific risk factors, only privacy risk had a positive effect on perceived risk, but it did not have a effect on SGHs usage intention. The results related to the fact that the survey respondents were potential users of SGHs and the bias that may overestimate the benefits provided by SGHs called optimistic bias. Based on these findings, some implications were presented such as the spread and distribution of SGHs to the ordinary persons, improvement of negative perceptions of games, and the need for data-based services to refine customized services for SGHs.
This study presented specific alternatives for the use of digital storytelling elements as college education and provided basic data for future Serious games to be more popularized and used as reference materials in various academic circles by considering the criteria for the quality evaluation of game contents, which had been pointed out as limitations of functional games. In particular, the factors to be considered were mainly in developing functional games to learn the clinical reasoning process.

This study analyzed user experience elements with healing game characteristics in eight horticultural games based on Lazro's theory of four fun elements, aiming to use horticultural treatment effects as basic data for horticultural game design. The games were found to be developed around "Serious Fun" and "Easy Fun," with "Hard Fun" and "People Fun" also included. Healing games including horticultural activities were highly linked to actual horticultural activities, resulting in horticultural treatment effects. Future studies will design horticultural healing games and verify their effects based on these results.
The game market has not only grown in size of the 10 trillion won but also the form and function of game use. Serious game combines the educational purpose and the fun of the game and develops it so that contents such as national defense. In this study, we analyze the cases of five application areas for the activation of serious games, and develop factors that the serious game should have, we want to see what the characteristics are and how important it is. The results of analysis show that it was analyzed that most serious games of application field were developed as 'experiential games' such as education, learning, experience, and simulation. This means that it is very effective to develop a serious game in consideration of the characteristics that a potential user should prefer a sensible game as well as a clear goal of a serious game in game development.
In this research, the effect of serious game on the task performance of adolescents with intellectual disabilities was investigated. A total of 31 students participated in a pre-post-with-control-group-design study. Results indicate that among the high-, moderate-, and low- ability students, the moderate-ability students gained the most from the game, in both speed and accuracy. From the results we can understand that game-based training has the most effect on the moderate level students. Also, the findings of this study show that serious games can be effective training tools for this population.
While there is consensus on the educational potential of serious games, there is still a lack of methodology and tools to support analysis and evaluation as well as design. This paper intends to explore the new methodology or design direction by analyzing pedagogy-related research required for serious games. To do this, we analyzed 4DF(Four Dimensional Framework), GOM(Game Object Model), LM(Learning Mechanics)-GM(Game Mechanics) and a framework for teacher. One of the biggest issues faced by educational games is the inadequate integration of education and game principles. This is due to a variety of factors, including the fact that game designers and educational professionals do not share a common vocabulary or work domain perspective.
Digital interactives in museums are expanding and user experience is becoming the focus of exhibition design. The purpose of this study was to suggest guidelines for serious games as a part of museum exhibits. To achieve this, studies on museum education, public space HCI, serious games, and universal design were analyzed by using content analysis methods. Results included 16 quality standards from cognitive, physical, and personal/social models. The findings from this study could benefit the design of future museum gaming interactives.
