  • In this paper, we generalize the Gottlieb groups and the related G-sequence of those groups, and present some sufficient conditions to ensure the exactness or non-exactness of G-sequences at some terms. We also give some applications of the exactness or non-exactness of G-sequences. Especially, we show that the non-exactness of G-sequences implies the non-triviality of homotopy groups of some function spaces.

  • We present two constructions of Toeplitz sequences with an intermediate complexity function by using the generalized Oxtoby sequence. In the first one, we use the blocks from the infinite sequence, which has entropy dimension $\frac{1}{2}$. The second construction provides the Toeplitz sequences which have various entropy dimensions.

  • The Euclidean distance is sensitive to the absolute offsets of time sequences, so it is not a suitable similarity measure in terms of shape. In this paper. we propose an indexing scheme for efficient matching and retrieval of time sequences based on the minimum distance. The minimum distance can give a better estimation of similarity in shape between two time sequences. Our indexing scheme can match time sequences of similar shapes irrespective of their vortical positions and guarantees no false dismissals

  • Localization of sequences with respect to Riesz bases for Hilbert spaces are comparable with perturbation of Riesz bases or frames. Grochenig first introduced the notion of localization. We introduce more general definition of localization and show that exponentially localized sequences and polynomially localized sequences with respect to Riesz bases are Bessel sequences. Furthermore, they are frames provided some additional conditions are satisfied.

  • A new method for generation of binary random sequences, called random sampling method, has been proposed by the authors. However, the random sampling method has the defect that binary random sequence can not be rapidly generated. In this paper, two methods based on the random sampling method are proposed for fast generation of binary random sequences. The optimum conditions for obtaining ideal binary random sequences are derived.

  • In this paper we propose algorithms for high resolution image sequence interpolation. Image sequences, in general, are assumed to have greater amount of information than a still image. By this reason, image sequences can be used to improve the resolution of interpolated image sequences. Therefore the proposed algorithms can be the theoretical basis for interpolating dynamic image sequences. In order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithms, experimental results using both synthetic and real test images are presented.

  • We study clustering algorithm for sequences of categorical values. Clustering is a data mining problem that has received significant attention by the database community. Traditional clustering algorithms deal with numerical or categorical data points. However, there exist many important databases that store categorical data sequences. In this paper, we introduce new similarity measure and develop a hierarchical clustering algorithm. An experimental section shows performance of the proposed approach.

  • The effect of E. coli plasmid DNA sequences contained by chimeric vectors on plasmid replication was investigated. We constructed YRp7- or 2.$\mu$m circle-based plasmids containing E. coli plasmid DNA sequences and those not containing it. By examining their maintenance in yeast, we showed that plasmid without E. coli plasmid DNA sdquences was nore stable and presented higher copy number, and espressed higher level of hepatitis B viral surface antigen as a foreign gene. This result suggested that E. coli plasmid DNA sequences within chimeric plasmid somehow inhibited plasmid replication in yeast.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for generating a set of complementary sequences that can be simultaneously transmitted and yet compressed into a short pulse on reveive, and its application to ultrasound imaging. This new complementary sequences can be designed based on a filter bank theory. The new complementary sequences can be used to improve the SNR of ultrasound imaging without sacrificing the spatial resolution and frame rate, compared to conventional pulse-echo imaging. Computer simulations are performed to verify the proposed method.

  • Numerous PSC bridges are stregthened by the combined use of continuity of simple spans and addition of external prestressing. In this case prestressing sequences should be carefully checked due to the effect on the stress and camber of girders and slab. Various prestressing sequences were applied in this field test and measured values were analysed. This results show that preatressing sequences affact the stress and deflection of bridge members, so the prestressing sequence should be considered at the desist and construction stages of deteriorated bridges.
