This paper proposes a classification model for systematical management of resources in educational repositories. A classification scheme should be provided to systematically store and manage, precisely retrieve, and maximize the usability of the resources. However, there is little research result on the classification scheme and classification model for educational repository resources. It causes several issues such as inefficient management of educational resources, incorrect retrieval, and low usability. However, there are different characteristics between the educational resource information and information of the previous fields. Therefore, a novel research on the classification scheme and classification model for the resources in educational repositories is required. To achieve the goal for efficient and easy use of the educational resources, we should manage consistently the resources according to the classification scheme accepting several views. This paper proposes a classification model to systematically manage and increase the usability of the educational resources. In other words, the proposed classification model can manages dynamically the classification scheme for the resources in educational repositories according to various views. To achieve the objectives, we first define a proper classification scheme for the implementation resources based on the classification scheme in relevant scientific technology fields. Especially, we define a novel classification model to dynamically manage the defined classification scheme. The proposed classification scheme and classification model enable more precise and systematic management of implementation resources and also increase the ease of usability.
The problem of semantic interoperability in science and technology information is frequently raised. Well-established classification scheme will be used as a tool to interchange information between different databases without semantic inconsistency. However, there is still a practical barrier due to different classification schemes each database adopts. Accordingly, it is urgent to harmonize or reconcile those classifications with each other. This paper aims to solve semantic inconsistencies occurred when interchanging information between databases having different classification schemes, the Standard National Sci-Tech Classification and the Standard KISTI Classification. For the purpose a conceptual analysis of science and technology are performed and five consistency/inconsistency types are analyzed based on some examples.
A product classification scheme is the foundation on which product databases are designed, and plays a central role in almost all aspects of management and use of product information. It needs to meet diverse user views to support efficient and convenient use of product information. It needs to be changed and evolved very often without breaking consistency in the cases of introduction of new products, extinction of existing products, class reorganization, and class specialization. It also needs to be merged and mapped with other classification schemes without information loss when B2B transactions occur. For these requirements, a classification scheme should be so dynamic that it takes in them within right time and cost. The existing classification schemes widely used today such as UNSPSC and eCl@ss, however, have a lot of limitations to meet these requirements for dynamic features of classification. Product information implies a plenty of semantics such as class attributes like material, time, place, etc., and integrity constraints. In this Paper, we analyze the dynamic features of product databases and the limitation of existing code based classification schemes, and describe the semantic classification model proposed in [1], which satisfies the requirements for dynamic features of product databases. It provides a means to explicitly and formally express more semantics for product classes and organizes class relationships into a graph.

In this paper, we propose a automation of the classification process for reusable software component and construction method of structured software components library. In order to efficient and automatic classification of software component, we decide the facets to represent characteristics of software component by acquiring semantic and syntactic information from software components descriptions in natural language, and compose the software component identifier or automatic extract terms corresponds to each facets. And then, in order to construct the structured software components library, we sore in the near location with software components of similar characteristic according to semantic similarity of the classified software components. As the result of applying proposed method, we can easily identify similar software components, the classification process of software components become simple, and the software components store in the structured software components library.
Needs on ensuring compatibility and conformity of equipments that are used in logistics functions - such as packaging, transporting, loading/unloading and storing - are raised. This article presents a classification scheme for analyzing the interfacing characteristics of logistics equipments focusing on standardized pallets of unit load system. International and domestic classification systems are reviewed and analyzed; as a result several problems are issued. Methods to resolve the problems, to specify the attributes of logistics equipments and to represent the semantics among them using semantic web technology are proposed. This study could make it possible to examine the conformities of interfacing equipments automatically.

Named entity recognition (NER) technique can play a crucial role in extracting information from the web. While NER systems with relatively high performances have been developed based on careful manipulation of terms with a statistical model, term mismatches often degrade the performance of such systems because the strings of all the candidate entities are not known a priori. Despite the importance of lexical-level term mismatches for NER systems, however, most NER approaches developed to date utilize only the term string itself and simple term-level features, and do not exploit the semantic features of terms which can handle the variations of terms effectively. As a solution to this problem, here we propose to match the semantic concepts of term units in restaurant named entities (NEs), where these units are automatically generated from multiple resolutions of a semantic tree. As a test experiment, we applied our restaurant NER scheme to 49,153 nouns in Korean restaurant web pages. Our scheme achieved an average accuracy of 87.89% when applied to test data, which was considerably better than the 78.70% accuracy obtained using the baseline system.

Electronic catalogs (or e-catalogs) hold information about the goods and services offered or requested by the participants, and consequently, form the basis of an e-commerce transaction. Catalog management is complicated by a number of factors and product classification is at the core of these issues. Classification hierarchy is used for spend analysis, custom3 regulation, and product identification. Classification is the foundation on which product databases are designed, and plays a central role in almost all aspects of management and use of product information. However, product classification has received little formal treatment in terms of underlying model, operations, and semantics. We believe that the lack of a logical model for classification Introduces a number of problems not only for the classification itself but also for the product database in general. The existing classification schemes widely used today such as UNSPSC and eClass, however, have a lot of limitations to meet these requirements for dynamic features of classification. In this paper, we try to understand what it means to classify products and present how best to represent classification schemes so as to capture the semantics behind the classifications and facilitate mappings between them. Product information implies a plenty of semantics such as class attributes like material, time, place, etc., and integrity constraints. In this paper, we analyze the dynamic features of product databases and the limitation of existing code based classification schemes. And describe the semantic classification model, which satisfies the requirements for dynamic features oi product databases. It provides a means to explicitly and formally express more semantics for product classes and organizes class relationships into a graph. We believe the model proposed in this paper satisfies the requirements and challenges that have been raised by previous works.
As a part of ebXML(Electronic Business using eXtensible Markup Language) framework, BPSS(Business Process Specification Schema) has been provided to support the direct specification of the set of elements required to configure a runtime system in order to execute a set of ebXML business transactions. The BPS,' is available in two stand-alone representations, a UML version and an XML version. Due to the limitations of UML notations and XML syntax, however, current ebXML BPSS specification fails to specify formal semantic constraints completely. In this study, we propose a constraint classification scheme for the BPSS specification and describe how to formally represent those semantic constraints using OCL(Object Constraint Language). As a way to validate p Business Process Specification(BPS) with the formal semantic constraints, we suggest a rule-based approach to represent the formal constraints and demonstrate its detailed mechanism for applying the rule-based constraints to the BPS with a prototype implementation.
Anchor-person scene detection is of significance for video shot semantic parsing and indexing clues extraction in content-based news video indexing and retrieval system. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm extracting anchor ranges that exist in sports news video for unit structuring of sports news. To detect anchor person scenes, first, anchor person candidate scene is decided by DCT coefficients and motion vector information in the MPEG4 compressed video. Then, from the candidate anchor scenes, image processing method is utilized to classify the news video into anchor-person scenes and non-anchor(sports) scenes. The proposed scheme achieves a mean precision and recall of 98% in the anchor-person scenes detection experiment.

This study was conducted to create a digital archive for local cultural contents compiled from the records of westerners who stayed in Korea during the Enlightenment Period of Chosun. The compiled information were gathered from 22 records, and 10 main subjects, 40 sub-subjects and 239 mini-subjects were derived through the subject classification scheme. Item analysis was conducted through 38 metadata and input data types were classified and databased in Excel. Finally, a web-based digital archiving system was developed for searching and providing information through various access points. Suggestions for future research were made to expand archive contents through continuous excavation of westerners' records, to build an integrated information system of Korean digital archives incorporating individual archive systems, to develop standardization of classification schemes and a multidimensional classification system considering facet structure in cultural heritage areas, to keep consistency of contents through standardization of metadata format, and to build ontology using semantic search functions and data mining functions.
