  • The increase of youth unemployment has delivered entire interests in career education by many institutes including universities Thereafter, the emphasis on career education makes the ability on career development be considered as one of the fundamental issues in a human life. There are many efforts to assist students for career exploring by universities, however, the findings through these researches have appeared to be insignificant. As a prat of the efforts to overcome these limitations, this study is to create the appropriate career exploring educational program for college students in engineering. In accordance with the objective of this study, the research was conducted with methodologies such as 1) literature reviews; 2) analysis on the career exploring ability and needs on the related programs focusing on 224 college students in engineering; 3) creation and development of the educational program for career exploring; 4) application of the developed program to twenty three number of college students; 5) result analysis after program implementation. The significant findings and a specific case delivered by this study expect to provide valuable contributions to prospective users who intent to involve in the related educational program.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is a) to develop a self-awareness program using various action methods and b) to experiment the effects of that on self-concept, the self-perception and the self-esteem in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 37 nursing students. Using one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design, we conducted the experiments of a self-awareness program during the period of six weeks from March through May of 2004. Results: The scores of the posttest on self-concept, self-perception and self-esteem in nursing students were significantly higher than those scores of the pro-test. Conclusion: The results of our experimentation showed that a self-awareness program using various action methods was very effective to enhance self-concept, self-perception and self-esteem in nursing students. In particular, different action methods of psychodrama were shown to be a useful tool in exploring the areas of blind self and unknown self.

  • This study examines a systematic and effective approach to career guidance in medical education, with a particular focus on the 6-year integrated career guidance education framework implemented at the College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea. Based on the "New SLICE" educational development principles, this framework comprehensively addresses the needs of medical students in career planning and development. It is structured into three phases: understanding yourself, exploring options, and choosing a specialty. The first phase, understanding yourself, helps students to recognize their strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes, and potentials, thereby setting the direction for future career choices. This phase includes various psychological tests and Self-Development and Portfolio courses. The second phase, exploring options, enables students to engage in related activities such as research and practical training, providing direct and indirect experiences across various fields. This phase offers courses including Medical Field Experience, Career Guidance through the Learning Community & Advisory Professors, and Student Participation in Professor Research Projects. The final phase, choosing a specialty, involves students making decisions based on in-depth self-assessment and exploration of majors, with a capstone project being a significant component. Maximizing the efficiency of career decision-making requires integration between the basic medical curriculum and postgraduate education. Including the period up to residency entrance in the framework is necessary for effective career guidance education.

  • Previous research has shown that the use of self-disclosure, the process of revealing personal thoughts and feelings, in conversational agents (CAs) increases overall user evaluations. However, research exploring the effects of self-disclosure in different situations or dialogue types is limited. This study investigated the effects of self-disclosure and dialogue type (task- vs. social-oriented) on trust, usefulness, and usage intention. Results showed significant interaction effects between self-disclosure and dialogue type. For CAs that did not use self-disclosure, trust, usefulness, and usage intention were higher in task-oriented dialogues. In contrast, CAs that did use self-disclosure had higher trust, usefulness, and usage intention in social-oriented dialogues. These results suggest that researchers and designers should consider the specific dialogue types and corresponding user goals when adding human qualities, such as self-disclosure, to CAs.

  • The purpose of the present study was to look deeply into the experience of self-exploration by providing song psychotherapy to the children of ministers. For this, three women, who were children of ministers and who were in their twenties, were provided with fifteen sessions of song psychotherapy at the Music Therapy Clinic of E University. The present study used Colaizzi's phenomenological method in order to observe and understand the self-exploring process of the participants in depth. Therefore, the present research found 164 meaning units, 38 themes and 14 theme groups, and 3 categorizations. As a result of this study, first, the participants recognized the features of environment while exploring themselves in song psychotherapy. Second, they found their affectedness by and reactions about surrounding environments. Third, they found an intrapersonal condition that was formed by their surrounding environment. With this as the basis, the result of the present study helps form an understanding of the phenomena that the children of ministers experience, and it may be utilized as groundwork in the application and development of music therapy methods for the self-exploration of the children of ministers.

  • This study was tried to explore the mediating effect of workplace learning and self-efficacy on the relationship between technostress and job satisfaction in convalescent hospital nurses. Data were collected from 149 nurses working at one of 10 convalescent hospitals located in Korea's D region and between July 20 and August 12, 2019 and analyzed using SPSS 24.0. The mediating effects of workplace learning and self-efficacy in the relationship between technostress and job satisfaction were investigated by conducting hierarchical regression analysis and testing for significance based on bootstrapping p values. We found that workplace learning had a complete mediating effect, and self-efficacy a partial mediating effect, in the relationship between technostress and job satisfaction in convalescent hospital nurses. Exploring diverse factors and environmental features affecting job satisfaction in convalescent hospital nurses is highly relevant to clinicians, especially given the gradually increasing number of convalescent hospitals, changes during the era of technology fusion, and the strategic demands arising from an aging society.

  • This paper compares two recent methods for exploring a scientist's research history: citation identity and self-citation network. The former is proposed by White(2000), while the latter is suggested by Hellsten et al.(2007). An experimental citation analysis was carried out on the research output of Young Mee Chung, a renouned Korean information scientist. The result shows that the two methods divided the research period into two sub-periods in the same way. They also identified the major research themes very similarly. In the analysis of each method's performance in depth, the two methods revealed different functions to understand a researcher's history. Citation identity was useful to identify authors who have affected Chung's research in terms of research topics. whereas, self-citation network was successful to identify the core papers and leading papers of the research sub-periods. This study indicates the combination of two methods can provide rich information on a scientist's research history.

  • The main purpose of this study was to introduce a self-study as one way to enhance instructional expertise in mathematics. This paper summarized the concept, characteristics, and methods of self-study in order to inform teachers of the usefulness of a self-study for their professional development. This paper then presented a self-study practice manuals for teachers to follow the self-study step by step. It described a case in which an elementary school teacher applied the self-study practice manuals to her mathematics teaching. This paper closes with implications for teachers to employ a self-study.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine differences in clothing shopping orientation among female adults according to their level of self-esteem and body cathexis. The subjects included 460 women ranging in age from 20 to 69, living in the Daegu area. The data was analyzed by frequency, factor-analysis, mean calculation, ANOVA and the Duncan-test using the SPSS-package. The overall results are as follows: First, clothing shopping orientation fell into five categories: 'hedonic', 'trend conscious', 'store-patronizing', 'economic', and 'independent' shopping orientation. Second, there were measurable differences in clothing shopping orientation related to one's level of self-esteem. Third, there was a significant difference in clothing shopping orientation according to the one's level of body cathexis. It appears that high levels of body cathexis do predict a tendency towards a more 'independent' clothing shopping orientation.

  • The implementation of iris biometrics on smartphone devices has recently become an emerging research topic. As the use of iris biometrics on smartphone devices becomes more widely adopted, it is to be expected that there will be similar efforts in the research community to beat the biometric by exploring new spoofing methods and this will drive a corresponding requirement for new liveness detection methods. In this paper we addresses the problem of presentation attacks (Spoofing) against the Iris Recognition System on mobile devices and propose novel Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) method which suitable for mobile environment.
