유아의 활동성 기질과 자기조절능력과의 관계: 어머니-유아 관계, 교사-유아 관계의 중재효과 (The Relationship between Activity Temperament and Self-Regulation Ability in Young Children: The Moderating Effects of Mother-Child and Teacher-Child Relationships)

  • The purpose of this study was to find the moderating effects of mother-child and teacher-child relationships in regard to the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in young children. The participants were 236 mothers and 15 teachers who were in charge of children, who were 5 years old in kindergartens or childcare facilities in Incheon Metropolitan City. The key research findings of this study were as follows: Firstly, the children's activity temperament exerted negative influence over their behavioral and emotional self-regulation ability. Secondly, it was found that an affectionate relationship between mother and child was proven to have some moderating effect, thus influencing the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in a child. Anyway, there was no moderating effect of the rejection in mother-child relationships on the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in a child. Thirdly, it was found that both intimacy and conflict in teacher-child relationships had no moderating effects when it came to the relationship between activity temperament and self-regulation ability in young children.

Fashion savvy II: 타인의 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 자아존중감과 의복구매 자신감이 fashion savvy에 미치는 영향 (Fashion savvy II: The influences of fear of negative evaluation by others, self esteem, and consumer confidence in fashion decisions on fashion savvy)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the determinants of fashion savvy. As determinants, this study examined fear of negative evaluation by others and self esteem as subject-related variables and consumer confidence in fashion decisions as the product-related variable. It was hypothesized that fear of negative evaluation and self esteem influence fashion savvy both directly and indirectly through consumer confidence in fashion decisions. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul metropolitan area, using convenience sampling, and 311 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing data, factor analysis and path analysis were conducted. Tests of the hypothesized path show that one factor of fear of negative evaluation and self esteem influence fashion savvy directly and indirectly through consumer confidence in fashion decisions. More specifically, 'fear of negative impression and judgment' factor negatively influences 'marketing literacy' and 'consumer selfefficacy' of fashion savvy, whereas self-esteem positively influences 'consumer self-efficacy' of fashion savvy. In addition, consumer confidence in fashion decisions influences all six factors of fashion savvy. The implications of these findings and suggestions for future study are also discussed.

자아존중감과 신체만족도에 따른 패션 트렌드 수용도 (The Effects of Self-Esteem and Body Cathexis on the Acceptance of Fashion Trends)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-esteem and the body cathexis on consumers' attitude in acceptance of fashion trends. The subjects were 460 women from in their 20's to 60's living in Daegu area. The scale for self-esteem and the body cathexis were used and self-report questionnaires were applied to measure the acceptance of fashion trends. The data were analysed by frequency, mean, factor analysis, ANOVA and Duncan-test using SPSS-package. The results were as follows. First, the results of analysing the factor of the response of acceptance of fashion trends identified three attitudes; 'active to fashion trends', 'passive to fashion trends' and 'unconcern to fashion trends'. Secondly, there were significant differences in the acceptance of fashion trends in accordance with an age. Thirdly, there were significant differences in the acceptance of fashion trends and clothing shopping orientation according to one's self-esteem and the body cathexis. It appeared that higher the level of self-esteem and the body cathexis predicts an 'active to fashion trend' attitude in acceptance of fashion trends.

A hierarchical model of self-determined motivation for thrift shopping behavior

  • A consumer is an individual entity with various motivations. This study is intended to incorporate a hierarchical structure of motivation to understand self-determined motivation for purchasing secondhand merchandise at thrift stores. A conceptual model adopted from Cadwallader et al. (2010)'s comprehensive model of motivation used in a marketing context was developed to investigate motivational process in secondhand merchandise shopping. The conceptual model includes the three levels of motivational structure-the global, contextual (environmental concern and frugality), and situational motivation. A series of the causal relationships among the three levels of self-determined motivations and buying intention to shop at thrift stores were hypothesized. A total of 219 respondents from two different northeastern state universities in the U.S. completed a self-administered survey. The results indicated that secondhand merchandise shopping is well explained in the hierarchical structure of self-determined motivation where the global motivation had a positive impact on the contextual motivations regarding environmental concern and frugality. Of the two contextual motivations, only environmental concern had a positive impact on situational motivation for shopping at thrift stores. Finally, the situational motivation positively influenced the intention to shop at thrift stores. The results of this model suggest that the hierarchical structure of self-determined motivation would be a very useful framework to understand consumer behavior for apparel shopping. Also, further research can be done to identify other contextual motivational factors to understand consumer motivation for shopping at thrift stores.

Mediating Effect of Meta-cognition between Locus of Control and Self-efficacy

  • Meta-cognition is the knowledge and cognition of cognitive phenomena, including the control of ones own memory, comprehension, and thought processes. Meta-cognition is similar to self-awareness, which is the understanding of oneself, and affects people's attitudes and behaviors. This study demonstrated the mediating effect of meta-cognition between internal locus of control and self-efficacy. Internal locus of control refers to the steady faith that any outcome is related to one's own efforts. Self-efficacy is a collection of personal strong belief that one individual can achieve his or her own goals. In this study, if a person has a tendency to adopt an internal locus of control, meta-cognition is improved, and self-efficacy can in turn be increased if meta-cognition is improved. This study conducted an empirical analysis through questionnaires conducted on 260 university students. The results of the research demonstrated that there is a highly positive correlation between meta-cognition, control position, and self-efficacy. In addition, this study emphasized that positive meta-cognition with internal locus of control can lead to positive attitudes and behaviors, and positive results.

Impacts of self-monitoring tendency and mobile phone dependency on salence of mobile phone case product attributes

  • Prevalent usage of mobile devices among consumers has been well recognized and this is especially imperative among young adult consumers. The mobile phone became the gateway of their communication, media consumption, retail transaction, education, and (virtual) social life. However, there is little empirical research explaining the dynamics behind the psychological underpinning of young adult consumers, specifically Generation Y, to understand their usages and dependency on mobile phones. This study, therefore, aims to unveil antecedents and consequences of Gen Y consumers' mobile phone dependency from a media psychological perspective. We developed a conceptual model based on theory of self-monitoring (Snyder 1974, 1987), extended self-concept (Belk, 1988), and media dependency theory (Ball-Rokeach & Defluer, 1976). Four hundred ninety-eight students in the U.S. provided usable responses to our pencil-and-paper survey. Causal modeling analysis results demonstrated that both ability to modify one's behavior and sensitivity to cues for social appropriate behavior dimensions of the self-monitoring tendency positively predicted one's level of fashion involvement, which in turn positively predicted his/her mobile phone dependency. Individual's mobile phone dependency, fashion involvement and self-monitoring's ability dimension exhibited positive and direct impact on one's perception of the salience of mobile phone case product attributes. Based on the findings, we provided pragmatic and theoretical implications for the industry and academia.

여대생의 자기애적 성격과 자아존중감이 외모 관리 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Narcissistic Personality and Self-Esteem on the Appearance Management Behaviors of Female College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of narcissistic personality and self-esteem on the appearance management behaviors(weight, skin care, makeup, hair care, clothing selection) of female college students. The questionnaires were administrated to 362 female college students living in Gwang-ju city, Korea. For analysis of data, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Cronbach'$\alpha$, regression analysis were applied. The results were summarized as follows. First. the female college students' narcissistic personality was categorized into four factors, need for administration, leadership/self-confidence, need for power/entitlement, and superiority. Second, narcissistic personality significantly influenced appearance management behaviors. The further examination of the effects showed that need for administration appeared to affect clothing selection, hair care, skin care, makeup, and weight. Third, self-esteem turned out to have positive effects on overall appearance management behaviors. The further examination of the effects showed that self-esteem appeared to affect clothing selection, skin care, hair care, makeup, and weight. The results indicated that female college students' narcissistic personality and self-esteem were important factors to their appearance management behaviors and marketing programs for fashion industries.

Effects of Simulation-based Learning on Stress, Problem Solving Ability, Self-Efficacy, and Resilience of College Nursing Students

  • Objectives: The objective of this study was to explore the effects of the simulation-based learning program on stress, problem-solving ability, self-efficacy, and resilience of final-year nursing students in a college in South Korea. Methods: The design of the study was a one-group pretest-posttest. The participants of this study were final-year nursing students in 2018. A total of 105 students completed it. The intervention was an 8-week simulation-based practice course. The primary and secondary outcome measures were baseline and follow-up questionnaires regarding demographic factors, stress, problem-solving ability, self-efficacy, and resilience. Results: Problem-solving ability (t=6.567, p<.001), self-efficacy in four situations (p<.001) and resilience (t=2.352, p=.021) increased after simulation-based learning than before learning. Stress also increased after simulation-based learning compared to before learning (t=5.960, p<.001). The level of stress, self-efficacy, and resilience were mainly related to participants' satisfaction with their clinical placement, and interpersonal relationships (p<.05). Conclusions: Simulation-based learning is expected to improve nursing students' problem-solving ability, self-efficacy, and resilience. This can lead to induce learning motivation of nursing students, improve their coping strategies for solving problems, and ultimately provide high-quality care.

소기업의 조직문화와 자기효능감이 잡 크래프팅과 직무만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of SMEs' Organizational Culture and Self-Efficacy on Job Crafting and Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구에서는 중소기업의 조직문화와 자기효능감이 잡 크래프팅과 직무만족도에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 인과적 관계를 검증하고자 하였다. 조직 차원의 조직문화와 개인 차원의 자기효능감으로 각각 연구되어 오던 기존의 국내 선행연구들과 달리 서로 상이한 기제를 선행요인으로 잡 크래프팅과 직무만족도의 상호작용을 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 연구모형을 검증하기 위해 서울 및 수도권 소재 중소기업 근로자 144명의 설문을 분석하였다. 변수 간의 관계에 대한 연구모형의 신뢰성과 타당성을 검증하기 위해 요인분석 및 상관관계 분석을 시행하였고, 가설의 검증을 위해 회귀분석 및 매개효과분석을 사용하여 실증분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 조직문화와 자기효능감은 잡 크래프팅에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 조직문화의 하위요인인 관계지향문화와 위계지향문화는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조직문화와 자기효능감은 직무만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 조직문화의 하위요인인 시장지향문화와 위계지향문화는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 잡 크래프팅은 직무만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 잡 크래프팅의 하위요인인 방해적 직무요구와 사회적 직무자원은 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 조직문화는 중소기업의 잡 크래프팅과 직무만족도에 부분적 영향을 미치며, 잡 크래프팅 또한 직무만족도에 부분적 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구의 시사점은 첫째, 낮은 생산성과 높은 이직률로 고민하는 중소기업에 안정적이고 효율적인 인적자원 운영을 위한 중소기업 조직문화의 의미를 제시하였다. 둘째, 중소기업의 효과적인 직무관리방안으로 잡 크래프팅의 도입 가능성을 파악하게 되어 의미가 있었다. 셋째, 현재 잡 크래프팅에 대한 실질적인 도입을 한 사례가 미미한 상황에서 중소기업을 대상으로 한 잡 크래프팅의 이해와 직무만족도 향상을 위한 연구는 중소기업의 생산성 향상에 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다.

건강가정지원센터 내 한부모가정 관련 사업 현황과 개선방향에 관한 연구 (A Study of Programs for Single-parent Families in a Family Support Centers)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the healthy family education, healthy family counseling, a healthy family culture, and healthy families integrated programs for single parent families in family support centers, The data collected came from 59 family support centers located in Seoul and Kyunggi-Do, Korea. Subjects included both single parents and their children. The children were of elementary school age. The types of programs were education, counseling, culture, and integrated program. Education programs were process separately for the parents and for the children. Counseling programs were mostly group-type program that aimed at improving the parent-children relationship. The contents included sections on anger management, reducing stress, enriching self-esteem. The culture programs involved experiences, camps that included cooking, watching movies, similar activities. Integrated programs involved respite support, rearing support, mentor-mentee partnerships, and the formation of self-help groups.
