The ability to use information technology has become increasingly important as technological advances continue to sweep through the computing world, and education for improving computational thinking has become globally instituted. In South Korea, informatics subjects have been modified in the 2015 curriculum and are now compulsory in primary and secondary education. However, despite substantial financial investment and numerous studies promoting informatics education, there continues to be a serious lack of pre-service teachers capable of teaching computational thinking. This study investigated pre-service teacher programming education using App Inventor, their perceptions of App Inventor, and how use of the program affected teacher problem-solving abilities and self-efficacy. In the pre-test, the control group and experimental group showed no statistically significant difference; however, the post-test revealed that the two groups showed statistically significant differences in problem-solving skills and self-efficacy. The participants initially showed interest in using App Inventor; however, after practice-teaching and project-based learning, the participants demonstrated a growing negativity toward the program when they made errors and the functional limits of App Inventor became apparent. Although most participants stated that they would not use App Inventor in their classes, the positive statistically significant differences in problem-solving skills and self-efficacy indicate that this study could be utilized as a basis for building a teaching-learning program using App Inventor and creating an educational plan for teaching computational thinking.

The research paper presents the results of an experimental research of the development of critical thinking in third-year students majoring in 013 "Primary Education" in studying a special course "From Reflection to Self-Assessment: Critical Thinking Skills" (based on Lauren Starkey methodology). The research was conducted during the first half of 2019-2020 academic year. The sample representativeness was ensured by the method of random selection, the strategy of randomization according to the criteria of age, gender, level of academic performance was described. Given the confidence interval p=95% and the confidence interval of the error Δ=±0.05, the sample size was 94 people, including of the experimental group and 49 students of the control group. The peculiarities of the development of such critical thinking skills as reflective thinking, self-analysis, awareness of one's own achievements and shortcomings, choice of problem-solving strategy, use of cognitive models of learning are revealed. It was found that the development of critical thinking was achieved through a comprehensive combination of self-assessment and reflection, performing exercises to develop the ability to clearly articulate the problem, find, analyse and interpret relevant information, draw the right conclusions and explanations.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify the influencing factors on alienation among high school students. Method: Data was collected by questionnaires from 550 students of academic and vocational high schools in G city. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The scores of alienation among students in financially lower middle class and lower class were higher than those of the upper middle class students, resulting in significant differences(F=6.87, p=.00). A sense of alienation showed a significantly negative correlation with the scores of responding parenting style(r=-.32), family cohesion(r=-.33), school attachment(r=-.51), academic performance(r=-.34), peer relationships(r=-.38), self-control(r=-.43), and social skills(r=-.33). The most powerful predictor of alienation among high school students was school attachment and the variance explained was 26%. A combination of school attachment, self control, peer relationships, family cohesion, demanding parenting style, and academic performance account for 40% of the variance in alienation among high school students. Conclusion: This study suggests that school attachment, self control, peer relationships, family cohesion, demanding parenting style, and academic performance are significant influencing factors on alienation in high school students. Therefore, nursing strategy is needed to manage these revealed factors.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare satisfaction of practice and clinical skill in different participation learning and observation learning, and to offer the basic data to promote quality of nursing education. This study is a one-group pretest-posttest design to evaluate the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) for patient safety on self-leadership, patient safety competencies, and reflective thinking of nursing students. The research was conducted from March 2 to April 15, 2022, in which 57 nursing students participated. PBL for patient safety was examined in a total of 8 sessions in the order of motivation, problem identification, task performance planning, problem-solving methods, summary and solution, presentation, and evaluation. The following topics of patient safety were selected for each team: nursing records, high-alert medication, medication error and intravenous fluid regulation, blood transfusion care, fall, bedsore, infection control, and pain management. We provided feedback on the learning process and outcomes of nursing students. According to the results, self-leadership showed a statistically significant improvement in self-expectations (t=2.60, p=0.01), goal setting (t=2.84, p<0.01), self-reward (t=3.32, p<0.01), and self-criticism (t=2.32, p=0.02). Patient safety competencies showed a statistically significant improvement in patient safety knowledge (t=13.05, p<0.001) and patient safety skills (t=4.87, p<0.001) but not in reflective thinking. The results prove that PBL for patient safety is an effective teaching-learning strategy to improve self-leadership and patient safety competencies. Future studies must develop and validate specific and long-term teaching-learning methods to improve reflective thinking.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects simulation-based education combined team-based learning (SBE combined TBL) compared to simulation-based education (SBE) on undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group design with pre-and posttest measures was used. The participants in the study were 181 students. The SBE combined TBL group consisted of 84 senior students in 2013, and the SBE group consisted of 97 seniors in 2014. Collected data were analyzed using chi-square, independent t-test and ANCOVA with the statistical package SPSS 22.0 for Windows. Results: There was a significant improvement in communication skills, nursing performance confidence, team efficacy, and team performance scores in the SBE combined TBL group compared to the SBE group (t=2.45, p=.015; F=4.30, p=.040; t=3.06, p=.003; t=8.77, p<.001). However, there was no statistically significant difference in self-directed learning between the groups. Conclusion: SBE combined TBL compared to SBE is an effective teaching and learning method to enhance various positive educational outcomes for nursing students. Therefore, we suggest that future studies investigate the development of an integrated course in which team-based learning is applied to theoretical sessions and simulation-based training.
In this study, we analyzed the effects of program participation aimed at enhancing self-directed learning abilities in university students on the motivational, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of self-directed learning. The study included 2,302 students enrolled in a university located in Region D, and data collection took place from March 2 to December 31, 2022. Comparing the experimental group(751 students) who participated in the program for self-directed learning improvement with the control group(1551 students), the experimental group exhibited a 0.24-point increase, whereas the control group showed a 0.08-point increase, demonstrating a significant difference between the two groups(t=34.89, p<.001). Furthermore, in the post-hoc analysis of self-directed learning ability scores based on the frequency of program participation, the mean difference between those who participated in 1 to 3 programs and those engaged in 4 to 6 programs was 0.067 points(p<.001). The mean difference between participants in 4 to 6 programs and those in 7 or more programs was -0.135 points(p<.001), and the mean difference between those involved in 1 to 3 programs and those in 7 or more programs was 0.067 points(p<.001). These results underscore the importance of recognizing self-directed learning abilities as a crucial competency in higher education and emphasize the significance of efforts to promote program participation and increase participation frequency.
