Single households currently account for 26.5% of all households and their number is expected to continue to rise, reaching 34.5% by 2035. An analysis of the consumption trends and needs of single households shows that they are rising as a new consumer group with a focus on investment on the individual and favouring: small but high-tech products: efficient use of limited resources: safety and peace of mind: self-improvement and leisure. Products which meet such demands are having an impact on the growth of home-furnishing market. An analysis of companies in Korea's home-furnishing market, with examples like the lifestyle company IKEA, shows a variety of brands such as SPA brand, furniture specialist, distributor and character products. And yet most are OEM products which lack differentiated product lines and compete with similar display and distribution structure. We needs the Single household consumption tendency of home-furnishing market and differentiation strategy through product analysis. In order to increase the value of companies in the home-furnishing market, in addition to differentiated design, product competitiveness must aspire to higher customer satisfaction with easy assembly, innovation in logistics, innovative sales methods such as virtual-reality simulation for products and space, individually-tailored furniture for the needs of single household and products which combine smart technology. For home-grown home-furnishing brands to have competitiveness, they must leverage on the strengths of the industry, offering differentiated and competitive products in a wider range of areas with convergence functions as well as differentiation in consumer interface and application of advancing technology; in-depth product research is called for.

A questionnaire was distributed to 350 women between the age of 20 and 50 living in Seoul and other metropolitan areas from Mar. 5 to Mar. 18, 2008. Collected data were analyzed by factor analysis, reliability, multiple regression, frequency and percentage using SPSS (Version 15,0) statistical Package. The results were as follows: Firstly, the BRQ Construct of fashion product consumers was proved to be composed of five factors; 'self-connective love', 'pursuing symbol', 'trust', 'intimacy', and 'knowledge'. Secondly, consumption values had a significant effect on the BRQ Construct and their explanatory power was 32%, 'Epistemic value' was the most significant variable affecting BRQ. 'Functional value' had a significant influence on some BRQ factors. Thirdly, explanatory power of fashion product attributes affecting BRQ was 45%. 'Aesthetic attribute' had significant effect on all BRQ factors, while 'functional attribute' showed significant effect on only 'pursuing symbol', 'trust', and 'intimacy'. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of consumer consumption behavior on sustainable consumption through social media and to verify the mediating effects of social connectedness on sustainable consumption. A survey comprising 222 men and women in their 20s and 30s was conducted in which their consumption expression behavior, sustainable consumption and social connectedness were measured. The results were analyzed using SPSS Process Macro Model 4 and it was found that consumers who shared a considerable amount of personal information on their lifestyle on social media as a means of self-expression exhibited a higher level of sustainable consumption. It also became apparent that the degree of consumption expression behavior had a positive effect on social connectedness and that social connectedness had a positive impact on sustainable consumption by mediating the degree of consumption-focused self-expression on social media. Based on these results, it was confirmed that social media can serve as a mechanism to lead consumers' consumption behavior beyond providing a basis for forming a human network. Implications for the impact of social media on consumption behavior were presented, and proposals for exploring the environment in which sustainable consumption can be activated were suggested, together with ways in which new media can be utilized. The findings from this study indicate that sharing consumption behavior and having a broad range of connections on social media can create an environment in which sustainable consumption is promoted.
This article reports on a study designed to investigate the nature of compulsive-like buying behavior among the normal urban housewives. A previously tested compulsive buying scale was administered to a sample of 566 urban housewives. As predicted by the hypotheses, compulsive buying tendencies correlate negatively with self-esteem and life satisfaction: positively with materialism, early consumption experience, one's susceptibility to social influence, advertising of women journal, irrational credit card usage. But age, education, and family income don't explain compulsive buying tendencies. Several other findngs are reported and discussed. Areas where further research should be done are suggested.

Alcohol has as much effect on our lives as the different taste for foods that people have all of the world. Recently, the interest about drinking habits has increased with the rise in health problems for college students with poor health related behavior. The purpose of this study was to evaluate alcohol consumption, smoking and eating behavior of college students in the Kyungsan area. This survey was administered through questionnaires, and the subjects were 177 male and 189 female college students. The self-administered questionnaire was composed of questions concerning social-demographic factors, general characteristics, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption and eating behavior. The data were analyzed by $\chi$$^2$-test and t-test. According to the survey results, almost of all of the survey subjects drank alcohol. The mean alcohol consumption level per day for male students (33.9${\pm}$29.7g) were significantly higher than for the female students (18.5${\pm}$16.5g), and more than 39.6% of the subjects drank alcohol 1-3 days a week. Alcohol consumption changed the students eating habits. Most students had dietary problems such as fast eating, skipping meal and spending too much money on fast food. The survey about eating behavior of the students showed the male students had more problems when compared with female students. Alcohol consumption levels and alcohol dependence showed a significant positive correlation with smoking cigarettes (r=0.386, p<0.001). The correlation coefficient between alcohol consumption and eating behavior was negatively correlated with skipping meals (r=-0.121, p<0.001). However, there were significant and positive correlations with overeating when students were depressed (r=0.130, p<0.05), with eating meals when watching TV or videos (r=0.085) and with spending money on fast food(r=0.235, p<0.235). The results indicate that health related behaviors of college students in the present study were fairly good. More attention should be given to college students and their habits of skipping meal, alcohol drinking and smoking, and the fairly good students can act as a model for correct dietary behavior so as to improve overall student health.
