  • This study examined the influence of meta-cognition, self-efficiency and clinical competence in nursing students. A convenience sample of 153 subjects were recruited from fourth year nursing students, and the survey was conducted from September 1st to 30th 2015. The data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed SPSS/Win 18.0 program, using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, one-way ANOVA and hierarchical regression. Significant positive correlation among the meta-cognition, self-efficiency and clinical competence were found. The regression model explained 27% of the clinical competence. The meta-cognition and self-efficiency for the nursing students were factors influencing clinical competence. Therefor, it is necessary develop an educational program to improve the meta-cognition and self-efficiency of nursing students.

  • This study sought to find out the impact of a university student's parental love on their career maturity and the effect of adjusting their career-setting self-efficiency and cognitive flexibility in their relationship. For this purpose, 362 college students in Daejeon, Chungnam, and Seoul were analyzed, there were significant differences between parental attachment and career-setting self-efficiency depending on gender, according to the study. Second, career-setting self-efficiency had a significant impact on career maturity. Third, the effect of controlling cognitive flexibility and career-setting self-efficiency was seen between parental affections and career maturity. This shows that parents attachment may have different effects on university students' career maturity, depending on the degree of career-setting self-efficiency, cognitive flexibility in the process of parental affection affecting the university students' career maturity. Therefore, it can be used to develop various programs that can help individuals decide their career path with recognizing that there are different internal factors within the university student group.

  • This study is examined for the effects of question generating strategy and feedback(teacher feedback and student peer reviews) on science achievement, self-efficiency and perception of the class in the middle school. Three classes of middle school 1st grade in a city were sampled for the study. The students in comparative group took traditional lessons and solved questions presented on worksheets distributed by a teacher. On the other hand, the students in the experimental groups 1 and 2 generated and solved questions by themselves after traditional lessons and then participated in the activity with peer's feedback and teacher's feedback, respectively. A self-efficiency test had been conducted before the treatments and the various tests such as achievement, self-efficiency and the perception of the class were carried out after treatments. The statistical results were analysed by ANCOVA, MANCOVA and t-test. The results of this study were as follows: First, there was significant difference between the control and experimental groups in the science achievement test (p<.01). But there was no significant difference between the experimental groups (p>.05). Second, both of the experimental groups showed enhanced self-efficiency compared with comparative group (p<.01). In sub-areas of self-efficiency, there were also meaningful results in the area of self-efficiency for control experimental group 1(p<.01), and in the area of difficulty preferences for experimental group 2 (p<.01). Third, the experimental group 1, given teacher's feedback, showed more positive perception of the class than the experimental group 2 that was given peer's feedback (p<.01).

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect of major-related volunteering on self-esteem and self-efficiency in fifty three university students who are majoring in occupational therapy. Students volunteered for 20 days in the geriatric service center for dementia from July 27, 2009 to August 21, 2009. Questionnaire survey was conducted to determine the difference in, self-efficiency, career awareness before and after the volunteering. Student showed satisfaction to volunteer program in general, and self-esteem and self-efficiency improved from $29.43{\pm}2.51$ point and $30.45{\pm}3.41$ point to $31.66{\pm}2.63$ point and $33.26{\pm}3.93$ point, respectively. In addition, subjects expressed comfort toward occupational therapy and were able to recognize how to prepare the role of occupational therapist after graduation. These results indicates that occupational therapy-related volunteering was effective in understanding occupational therapy and improving career awareness.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify factors affecting nurses' burnout in secondary general hospitals. Methods: Data were collected through structured questionnaires from 241 nurses working at the secondary general hospitals with below 400 beds in the P, C, and S city between April and May, 2009. Data analysis was done with independent t test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple stepwise multiple regression with SPSS WIN v 17.0. Results: Burnout was significantly different according to religion, age, clinical experiences, and shift work. Burnout score of the subjects was 58/100. Burnout of the subjects were positively correlated with job stress and negatively correlated with hardness, self efficiency, self esteem, spiritual wellbeing, social support, and job satisfaction. The explained variances for burnout was 51.8% and factors affecting nurses' burnout in secondary general hospitals were job stress, hardness, self efficiency, job satisfaction and shift work. Conclusion: These results showed the significant factors fo nurses' burnout in secondary general hospitals. These findings can be utilized to development of strategies for reducing job stress and enhancing hardness, self efficiency and job satisfaction.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the influencing factors of social support, self efficiency and depression among the hearing-impaired and physically disabled on their job stress. Methods: The data were collected from Jan.1 to Aug. 30, 2010 from 151 disabled workers. The instruments for this study were the Korean Occupational Stress Scale (KOSS), Social Support Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale and Beck Depression Inventory-Korean Version (K-BDI). The data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The physically disabled show higher social support (t=0.284, p= .001) and self efficacy (t=0.165, p= .024) but lower in depression (t=0.789, p<.001) than the hearing-impaired. There are negative correlation between job stress and social support, job stress and self efficacy but a positive correlation between job stress and depression. These three factors explained 42.9% of the variance in job stress. Conclusion: Social support and self efficacy have positive impacts on job stress but depression has negative impact.

  • In previous researches, the self-stability was studied for the spring-mass model and the two segment leg model. In these researches, it was presented that the spring-mass model has the self-stable region at relatively high speed running and the two segment leg model has the self-stable region at relatively low speed running. If the model was run in the self-stable region, the cost of transport is zero ideally. That is, actually, only the energy loss is needed to compensate for running. This means that the energy efficiency is high, running in the self-stable region. We want to have high energy efficiency at low and high speed running. So, in this paper, we propose the design direction of the three segment leg having the self-stable region at low and high speed running. And we prove the self-stable region of the three segment leg designed by the proposed design direction.

  • We proposed the new driving waveform which has changed the waveform of sustain division to improve luminous efficiency in plasma display panel. This sustain waveform is to add the ramp to the rectangular waveform, resulting in self-erasing discharge in the falling edge region. The proposed waveform has improved the luminous efficiency of 30% even in low driving frequency(25kHz), whereas the conventional driving waveform using the self-erasing discharge can improve the luminous efficiency only in high driving frequency( >150kHz). Front the results of this paper, we hope that the variety study on frequency and duty ratio, ramp waveform will increase the luminous efficiency.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of self-efficiency on the relationship between grit, health perception and health promotion behaviors of nurses and to provide baseline data to improve health promotion. A structured questionnaire survey was carried on 242 nurses at an university hospital in D-city. The strong and positive effects of grit, self-efficiency and health perception on health promotion behaviors were found. Self-effica -cy had a perfect mediating effection the effects of grit on health promotion behavior and a partial mediating effect on the effects of health perception on health promotion behavior. The study results suggest the need for various intervention programs based on multiple factors associated with grit, health perception and self-efficiency in order to enhance health promotion behaviors of nurses.
