The purpose of the present study is to explore two main research questions; whether or not there is a difference in student adjustment in college according to socio-demographics characteristics, and to analyze the effects of self-esteem, self-identity, interaction anxiousness, and parent attachment on the adjustment of college students. The results were as follows: First, students' adjustments in college showed significant differences according to gender, cramming for repeating a college entrance exam, living with their parents, college major, family income, and religion. Second, the self-esteem, self-identity, interaction anxiousness, and parent attachment of college students impacted the related adjustment. Self-identity was the most important factor for predicting the adjustment in College. Therefore, this result suggests that the programs of self-identity Improvement are needed for the adjustment in college life.
The study examined whether children's behavioral problem and self-resilience mediated the association between mothers' democratic parenting and their children's school life adjustment perceived by children. We analyzed data from the fourth Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS) that included democratic parenting, behavioral problem, self-resilience, and school life adjustment by 1,971 mothers and fourth grade elementary school children. We identified structural relationships among the variables using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 applying structural equation modeling. The measurement model and structure model had a favorable goodness of fit and the results of structure models on each path were as follows. First, school life adjustment had positive correlations with mother's democratic parenting and self-resilience, but there was a negative correlation between school life adjustment and behavioral problems. Second, the relationship between mother's democratic parenting and self-resilience was mediated by behavioral problems and behavioral problems; in addition, self-resilience mediated the relationship between mother's democratic parenting and school life adjustment. The results of this study suggested that children's school life adjustment and children's confidence to control behavioral problems could improve by promoting self-resilience. If fourth grade children could perceive mother's parenting as affection, monitoring children's behavioral problems could be reduced, and children's self-resilience and school life adjustment could be increased.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of college adjustment on the relationship between self-leadership and career decision-making self-efficacy in first-year nursing students. Methods: This descriptive research involved 250 nursing freshmen at two local universities and analyzed data from the final 170 students. Descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, the Kruskal-Wallis test, the Mann-Whitney U test, the Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression were employed for data analysis. The mediating effect was assessed following Baron and Kenny's three-step verification procedure, and the statistical significance of the mediating effect was determined by bootstrapping. Results: Academic adjustment (β=.24, p<.001) and institutional adjustment (β=.20, p=.004), sub-factors of college adjustment, were identified to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between the subject's self-leadership and career decision-making self-efficacy (β=.47, p<.001). Conclusion: Enhancing the career decision-making self-efficacy of first-year nursing students could become more effective through the development of programs focused on career exploration and counseling, which include content to promote self-leadership and college adjustment (academic adjustment and institutional adjustment).
The major purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of intergenerational transmission of self-differentiation on psychological adjustment of college students. Specifically, the present study endeavored to test the causal model focusing on the effect of the father's and the mother's self-differentiation on college student's psychological adjustment through the student's self-differentiation. The data were collected from 254 male and 293 female college students and their parents by using self-administered questionnaire method. The casual model was tested through structural equation model by using AMOS 7.0 program. The results showed that mother's and father's self-differentiation had direct and indirect effect on student's psychological adjustment. The results showed that both mother's and father's self-differentiation had direct effect on son's self-differentiation level, which directly influenced his psychological adjustment. The test of structural equation model also revealed that daughter's self-differentiation level was positively influenced only by mother's self-differentiation, while father's self-differentiation did not influenced female student's self-differentiation. Both male and female student's psychological adjustment was directly influenced by his or her self-differentiation level.

A measurement tools used for this study are self-disclosure scale, which was adapted and reproducted from Jourard's Self-Disclosure! Questionnaire(JSDQ), and marital adjustment scale, which was modified and supplemented form Dyadic Adjustment Scale (D.A.S). developed by Spanier. The subjects were 154 married couples dwelling in Seoul and questionnaires are recorded separately by both spouses. Statistical methods such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one way ANOVA and pearson correlation were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows; 1) For husband, self-disclosure degree was significant difference according to level of education. That is, the more husband was higher level of education, the more husband tended to disclose to wife. 2) Among the variables to have influence on the marital adjustment, level of education and marriage pattern had influence on wive's martial adjustment and family income and marriage pattern had influence on husbands' marital adjustment. 3) Wives were higher disclosed than husbands and wives were more disclosed than perceived husbands' disclosure. 4) There were positive correlation between the self-disclosure of husbands and the marital adjustment of wives. (r+.3872, p<.005) And there were positive correlation between the self-disclosure of wives and the marital adjustment of husbands. (r=.4997, p<.005) 5) For wives, the perception of husbands' disclosure correlates with wives' marital adjustment. (r=.4592, p<.005) For husbands, the perception of wives' disclosure correlates with husbands' marital adjustment.(r=.5610, p<.005) From this results, full and honest self-disclosure is needed for high marital adjustment of a married couple. The adolescents' self differentiation level was measured based on Bowen's family system theory modified for Korean adolescents(Je, 1989) and their school adjustment level was measured with developed for Korean adolescents(Park, 1998). Collected data were analyzed by Mean${\pm}$SD, t-test, ANOVA and Schefff and Pearson correlation coefficient (SPSS 12.0). Results: 1. The mean score for the level of self differentiation was $99.99{\pm}11.58$ and school adjustment was $63.52{\pm}8.80$. 2. The self differentiation level was different according to father's education and monthly income. The objective of this study is to identify the causal relationship of intra-family conflicts, self-concept and school adjustment as health protection behavior. Methods: The study setting is the adolescence groups. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires from the middle and high school students in Seoul. The study sample consisted of 268 students. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) analysis was conducted to find the causal relationship of intra-family conflicts, self-concept and school adjustment. Results: This study shows that firstly, the total effects of intra-family conflicts have a negative effect on self-concept(path coefficients=-0.080) and school adjustment(path coefficients=-0.107). And the self-concept factor as an intervening variable are affecting positively on school adjustment(path coefficients=0.411). Secondly, the economic conflicts, personaliy conflicts and social activity conflicts of father and mother among various family conflicts are more highly affecting on self-concept and school adjustment(p<0.01) Conclusions: These results imply that first, communication between parents and students is essential to solve the problems of school adjustment. Especially economic conflicts should be solved to improve the self-concept and school adjustment. second, a variety of programs are available for schools to employ in an effort to provide interventions for students who demonstrate school adjustment.
