중등수학교사와 일반인의 통계적 소양 분석 -여론조사 결과의 이해수준을 중심으로- (An Analysis on the Statistical Literacy of Secondary Mathematics Teachers and Adults -Focused on the Level of Understanding in a Poll Results-)

  • 본 연구는 중등수학교사와 일반인의 여론조사 결과에 대한 이해수준을 바탕으로 그들의 통계적 소양을 알아보기 위한 것으로, 이를 위해 중등수학교사 20명과 일반인 20명을 연구참여자로 하여 반구조화된 면담을 실시하고 여기서 얻은 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 여론조사 결과에 포함되는 통계 용어 및 표현의 의미를 정확히 이해하고 있는 중등수학교사와 일반인이 드물었다. 둘째, 연구참여자의 70%가 통계적 소양 수준이 3, 4수준에 이르지 못하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 셋째, 중등수학교사의 통계적 소양 수준이 일반인에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

중학교 수학교사의 테크놀로지 통합 자기효능감에 관한 연구 (On secondary mathematics teachers' technology integration self-efficacy)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the secondary mathematics teachers' technology integration self-efficacy with respect to geometry classes which they had experienced during last 1 year, 2015. For this study, we developed and validated the questionnaires based on TPACK framework in secondary geometry context. The questionnaires contained 28 items examining the secondary mathematics teachers' TPACK. We conducted the item analysis with 28 items and then the exploring factor analysis. As a result, 28 items was categorized into 5 constructs, TPCK, TCK, TK, PCK, PK, different from Mishra and Koehler's categorization. We analyzed the secondary mathematics teachers' technology integration self-efficacy with respect to geometry classes based on 5 TPACK constructs. The results indicated that there were no significant differences in technology integration self-efficacy according to gender. But technology integration self-efficacy according to the years of teaching experience differed significantly. The more years of teaching experiences teachers have, the lower level of TPCK and TK they have and the more years of teaching experiences teachers have, the higher level of PCK they have. The results also showed that there ware significant difference in TPCK according to the existence and non-existence of taking the technology courses during the time at university. Furthermore, we provide the implication for the professional preparation program for the mathematics teachers in middle schools.

확률 및 통계와 교원임용시험 (Probability and statistics in public secondary school teacher employment exam)

  • 본 연구는 확률과 통계의 내용을 올바르게 지도할 수 있는 역량을 갖춘 수학 교사를 선발하기 위한 중등학교 수학교과 임용고사문제 중에서 확률과 통계 영역의 출세 경향을 분석하고, 앞으로의 출제 방향과 수준에 대하여 논의하고자 한다. 동시에 학교 수학 교사들에게 확률과 통계 단원을 지도하기 위해서 갖추어야 할 내용에 대한 일반적인 가이드를 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 2015년 개정 고시된 교육과정의 수학 교과 중에서 확률과 통계 단원의 편제와 내용체계, 주요 변화 내용을 조사한다. 둘째, 중등교원임용시험에 15년간 출제 된 확률과 통계 단원의 문제들을 분석한다. 셋째, 기존의 출세 문제들이 중등학교의 확률과 통계를 올바르게 교육할 수 있는 자질을 갖춘 교사를 선발할 수 있는지에 대하여 검토한다. 마지막으로, 앞으로의 출제 내용, 범위, 수준, 그리고 방향에 대해서 논의한다. 결론적으로 4차 산업혁명시대를 맞이하여 빅 데이터의 중요성을 감안한다면 자료와 확률에 대한 통계적사고, 탐색적자료분석, 표본조사, 통계적 추론 그리고 공학적 도구의 활용 등의 출제가 더욱 필요하다고 본다.

중등 초임수학교사들의 컴퓨터 관련 지식의 형성과 활용에 대한 연구 (A study on the knowledge formation and utilization of computer among beginning secondary mathematics teachers)

  • This study conducted a survey to examine the knowledge formation and utilization of computer among beginning teachers of secondary school mathematics. We found that beginning teachers who had more experiences of taking computer utilization classes at teacher education institutes showed more interest in computer and saw the necessity and effectiveness of computer usage for teaching students. Teachers chose GSP the most among computer utilization knowledge learned in pre-service teachers program, and GSP is used the most in mathematics classes. However, they answered that computer is not so much available in class due to lack of hours and the relevant resources. Lastly, beginning teachers answered that the computer knowledge learned in in-service teacher program was more useful than that in pre-service. Thus, the professional development in utilizing computer should be improved through diversifying teacher training contents for beginning teachers as well as for pre-service teachers in teacher education institutes.

High School Students' Perceptions of Mathematics Teachers' Implementation of UDL-Based Practices and Technology in Mathematics Classes

  • The purpose of this survey-based study was to investigate high school students' perceptions of mathematics teachers' implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)-based practices and technology in their mathematics classes in 2017. A total of 303 high school students in South Korea participated in this online survey on teachers' use of technology for instructional practices, the frequency of technology tool use, and the meeting of UDL guidelines in mathematics instruction. According to frequency analysis, high school students generally perceived their teachers' mathematics teaching as somewhat positive in providing multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement. However, mathematics teachers' implementation of technology tools in their mathematics classes was generally limited. This study indicated significant and positive relationships between variables regarding the use of technology tools and teachers' efforts to follow the UDL guidelines. Applying the Chi-squared test, we further examined how each survey result differed according to high school students' academic achievements and grade levels.

  • The COM curriculum provides first a core of mathematics for all students, and then offers opportunities for students to enter different streams of mathematics studies. The flexible curriculum (COM) is certainly welcome as it focuses on a transition from concrete to conceptual mathematics and on sequentially learning the power of mathematical language and symbols from simple to complex. This approach emphasizes the use of computers in mathematics education in the upper secondary grades. In Mathematics A, one unit is developed to computer operation, flow charts and programming, and computation using the computer. In mathematics B, a chapter addresses algorithms and the computer where students learn the functions of computers, as well as programs of various algorithms. Mathematics C allots a chapter for numerical computation in which approximating solutions for equations, numerical integration, mensuration by parts, and approximation of integrals. But, unfortunately, they do not have any plan for the cooperation study.

수학 중등 교사들 간의 수학교수지식(MKT) 차이 발생 요인 분석 및 이를 통한 통계적 소양 신장 방안 (A Study on Analyzing the Difference Factors Occurred in the Secondary School Mathematics Teachers on the Mathematical Knowledge of Teaching and on Exploring the Enhancement on the Statistical Literacy)

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the MKT(Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching) of the in-service mathematics teachers on the statistics(Representative value, Degree of scattering) through the comparative analysis between the sub-elements of the MKT. In addition, it is to examine the factors that cause the difference of the subjects' MKT. To accomplish this, by the subject of 12 secondary in-service mathematics teachers, in this study the test items of the MKT on the statistics were developed and data were collected and analyzed. As a result of the analysis of the MKT test sheet, the CCK(Common Content Knowledge) and SCK(Specialized Content Knowledge) of the mathematics teacher was confirmed as a high score, whereas the and KCS(Knowledge of Content and Students) and KCT(Knowldge of Curriculum and teaching) were confirmed as low scores. In addition, through these results, it was shown that the difference in MKT's elements the middle school and high school teachers obtain occurred slightly.

An Analysis of Pre-Service Teachers' Reflective Thinking for Tasks on Polar Coordinates

  • It is the first time that there is a subject, advanced mathematics in the 2009 revised high school curriculum. Therefore it is posing a challenge to the teachers who are teaching it. At the advanced level, it is important for learners to reflect on their mental mathematical activities. This research analysed pre-service secondary teachers' reflective thinking in solving the tasks specific for the teaching and learning of polar coordinates. We report how and through what process mathematical tasks that can create disequilibrium for pre-service secondary teachers enable reflective thinking and expand preservice secondary teachers' thoughts and recognition of defining reflective thinking in looking back on one's problem solving and thinking processes.

로고(LOGO) 언어의 중등수학교육 활용방안 (A Study of LOGO in Secondary School Mathematics Classroom)

  • The purpose of the study was to suggest a few fundamental ideas to secondary mathematics teachers regarding using LOGO in their classrooms. Even though this software is "classic" in mathematics lessons in the States and western countries, Korean secondary mathematics teachers did not have much opportunities to become familiar with this software and its applications in their classrooms. This article offered a few suggestions with the specific guidelines. Basic commands were also listed for those who are not familiar with this software. Since the current Korean educational curriculum do not allow to use LOGO in regular classrooms as substitute lessons, it is recommended to implement these ideas in extra curriculum lessons or "Math Club" as trial basis.

도구로서 인공지능과 교과로서 인공지능에 대한 중등 수학 교사의 인식 탐색 (Secondary Mathematics Teachers' Perceptions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Math and Math for Artificial Intelligence (AI))

  • 본 연구는 초점 집단 면담(FGI)을 활용하여 인공지능에 대한 중등 수학 교사의 인식을 도구로서 인공지능과 교과로서 인공지능으로 나누어 분석하였다. 도구로서 인공지능 중 수학 교수 및 학습 도구 측면에서 수학 교사들은 인공지능을 활용하면 다양한 유형의 수학 수업이 가능할 것이라는 긍정적인 의견을 제시하였으나 학생들의 수학적 사고 과정의 면밀한 파악 및 학생들과 정서적 상호작용에 있어 인공지능 활용에 한계를 제시하였다. 도구로서 인공지능 중 수학 평가 도구로서의 측면에서 수학 교사들은 인공지능을 활용하면 문항 출제 및 채점을 용이하게 할 수 있다는 긍정적인 의견이 있었던 반면, 논술형 문항 채점에서는 교사의 개입이 필요하다는 의견이 있었다. 교과로서 인공지능 측면에서 수학 교사들은 <인공지능 수학> 교과의 도입 취지와 학습의 필요성에는 공감하였으나 이를 가르치기 위한 교사의 준비와 교수 학습 및 평가 자료가 다소 부족한 실정이라고 응답하였다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 중·고등학교 수학에서도 맞춤형 인공지능 학습 도구가 개발되어야 하고, 교사들의 평가를 도울 수 있는 인공지능 평가 도구를 개발 및 보급할 필요가 있으며, <인공지능 수학> 교과에 대한 교사의 이해를 높일 수 있는 전문성 향상 프로그램과 학생들에게 의미 있는 학습을 도울 수 있는 컨텐츠 위주로 교과 내용을 구성할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
