  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status and motives of buying second-hand clothing among university students and to suggest a plan to activate second-hand clothing transactions. In order to discover the effect of the buying motives on the purchasing of second-hand clothing, 112 university students who have purchased second-hand clothing over the past six months were surveyed and their responses were used for analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that design differentiation, habitual use, and economical factors had a meaningful effect on the purchase of second-hand clothes. Second-hand clothes have a positive environmental perception, but that perception did not impact the purchasing of second-hand clothes. It is necessary to raise the awareness and social movement around second-hand clothing and teach consumers the environmental benefits and sustainability of second-hand clothing. An activation plan for the second-hand clothing market is: 1. Proposes various market subdivisions that meet the characteristics and tastes of consumers that lead to the purchase of used clothing. In this study, two economic factors were found among the buying motives. The first is purchasing second-hand clothing at a very low price, and the second is finding luxurious expensive items or unique values at a lower price. Therefore, it is necessary to find various markets segments that suit consumer tastes by checking consumer characteristics and detailed factors. 2. Nurture second-hand clothing processing brands for the diversification of the second-hand clothing market. 3. There is an urgent need for quality classification, quality assurance, and the standardization of second-hand clothing. This study is meaningful in that it explored the possibility of having a positive effect on activating the second-hand clothing market.

Text-based unstructured data was collected on a daily basis from Naver news from January 1st to December 31st, 2022, using 'purchase of second-hand clothing' and 'purchase of second-hand luxury goods' as collection keywords. This was analyzed using text mining, and the results are as follows. First, looking at the frequency, the collection data related to the purchase of second-hand luxury goods almost quadrupled compared to the data related to the purchase of second-hand clothing, indicating that the purchase of second-hand luxury goods is receiving more social attention. Second, there were common words between the data obtained by the two collection keywords, but they had different words. The subjects were homemakers (n=381), and they were segmented into LOHAS group, environment conscious group, unconscious group, and wellbeing group according to their health and environment consciousness. Older homemakers were included in LOHAS group and environment conscious group. And these homemakers performed pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors better than wellbeing group or unconscious group. Health consciousness was positively related with the second-hand clothing purchasing and recycling. Environment consciousness was positively related with clothing made with organic, natural or functional materials, or the second-hand clothing purchasing, and recycling of the second-hand clothing. There was a need to develop continuing education programs to strengthen homemakers' health and environment consciousness, or to upgrade their pro-environmental clothing purchase and disposal behaviors.

This study identifies the moderating role of fashion leadership influencing the relationship between the perceived environmental benefits of SHC and continuance usage intention for millennial consumers. The hypotheses were statistically tested using online survey data, and the respondents were Korean female millennials aged between 25 and 39 years who had online shopping experiences of SHC within 3 months. Furthermore, 263 responses were analyzed by confirmatory factor, hierarchical regression, and conditional process analyses using SPSS, AMOS, and PROCESS v3.3. Results validated that the perceived environmental benefits of SHC and fashion leadership have positive effects on continuance usage intention of purchased second-hand items. Fashion leadership also moderates the relationship between the environmental benefits of SHC and continuance usage intention, showing that as the level of fashion leadership increases, the environmental benefits have more positive effects on continuance usage intention. Theoretical and practical implications were also discussed. This study will help bridge theoretical and practical gaps between purchasing and using SHC by focusing on the interaction effect of fashion leadership and its perceived environmental benefits.

The research method is based on the cultural clothing and costumes of the Chinese ethnic minority, as well as literature concerning the Yao costumes and photo data to investigate the cultural background and characteristics apparent in Yao costumes. The overall design characteristics of Yao costumes are as follows. First, the shape of Yao costumes are divided into straight-lined short tops with pleated skirts or shorts, or cardigan tops with pants and aprons, or long shirts, pants, and a belt. Each variant of tribal clothing is different. Second, the colors used are mainly black or dark blue, and these are accented by other colors, such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white. Third, the clothing patterns are mainly in plant, animal, natural, geometric, and human, etc. motifs. The most common patterns in daily life are the patterns using geometric shapes, plants, or animals. Using the background of the unique lifestyles of the Yao ethnic minority, this study applied hand knitting and jacquard techniques for a knit fashion design. In order to develop traditional patterns, Yao patterns were entered into an Illustrator and SDS-ONE APEX3-4 was used for simulation. Using wool fibers as the raw material; the knitting machine used a Bird's eye Jacquard technique-10GG. The results of this research and design work were as follows. First, the knitted clothing design using Yao clothing elements has significance for the development and flexible use of ethnic elements in contemporary creative design. Second, the straight cut design using hand-knitted and jacquard-knit fabrics can minimize waste materials and provide more possibilities for sustainable design development. Third, it provides additional methods for the combination of hand-knitting and jacquard knitting fashion design.

In adult group life-satisfaction does not have any causal relationship with clothing behavior in general execpt for clothing satis-to Psychological dependence, Aesthetics, Management, and Clothing satisfaction in the group. Second, in elderly group sex, education, and health significantly contribute to clothing behavior. A cencern for clothing is higher in female, higher-educated group, and the group with higher perception in health. Self-esteem has a causal relationship with Clothing importance, Conformity, Management, and Clothing satisfaction, whereas life-satisfaction has a strong causal relationship with clothing behavior in general. Third, in both adult and elderly groups a sig-nificant sex diference exists in clothing behavior. Females show higher concern for Clothing importance, Interest, Psychological dependence, Aesthetics, Management, and Fashion than males. On the other hand, males reveal higher concern for Conformity and Clothing satisfaction than females. Fourth, a significant interaction effect exists between age and sex, while elderly females show lower concern for Clothing importance, Interest, and Psychological dependence than adult females, elderly males show higher concern for the same sub-areas of clothing behavior than adult males. This signifies the increase of the concern for clothing in elderly males with the decrease of social activities. • This study examined the effects of platforms' attributes(economy, convenience, ease of use, and security) on perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, trust, and the continuance intention to use. Data were collected through a survey conducted with 327 users of second-hand luxury goods trading platforms in their twenties and thirties; 300 were used for statistical analysis using SPSS26.0 for exploratory factor analysis and correlation analysis, and AMOS 26.0 for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. For the attributes of second-hand luxury goods trading platforms, four factors were extracted: economy, convenience, ease of use and security. The results showed that only the security of second-hand luxury goods platforms had a positive effect on the perceived usefulness of the platform, but other attributes did not influence perceived usefulness. In contrast, all attributes of the platform showed positive effects on perceived enjoyment. Perceived enjoyment had a strong effect on trust; however, perceived usefulness did not affect trust. The continuance intention to use the platforms was most influenced by perceived usefulness, trust, and perceived enjoyment, in that order. The current findings can help marketers of second-hand luxury goods platforms optimize the platforms' attributes based on the marketing objectives and develop strategies to build perceived usefulness and enjoyment first, and in turn, trust and intention to use.
