In this paper, we implement a spatial data management system which is based on GIS technology. GIS technology is tightly related with spatial information and will be important method for future information-oriented society. The implemented system collects and manages spatial data. In the implementation, we use PostgreSQL DBMS. We also implement magnification, reduction, movement and search functions in the system.

This paper proposes a Expert CAPP System for integrating CAD/CAM of rotational work-part by rule based approach. The CAD/CAPP integration is performed by the recognition of machined features from the 2-D CAD data (IGES) file. Selecting functions of the process planning are performed in modularized rule base by forward chaining inference, and operation sequences are determined by means of heuristic search algorithm. For CAPP/CAM integration, post-processor generates NC code from route sheet file. This system coded in OPS5 and C language on PC/AT, and EMCO CNC lathe interfaced with PC through DNC and RS-232C.

In this investigation we report our search for the presence of Leucine Rich Repeats (LRRs) in various Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) sub species. Leucine rich repeats are short sequence motifs present in some proteins. The consensus sequence corresponding to the LRR was present in Crystal proteins of Bacillus thuringiensis sub species. This LRR sequence has been predicted to be involved in proteinprotein interactions or receptor binding functions, hence the importance of this study.

A mixted integer non-linear programming model which has the object function as minimizing building costs, and constraints with the functions for carrying capacity and service level of queueing time is developed. By using the proposed model, the most adequate on a building and the most economical elevator's specifications could be determined by sequential search method like complex method.

This thesis presents a modification and extension to the Burgess and Killebrew heuristic resource leveling procedure for project networks. In contrast to previous algorithms appearing in the literature, the objective function of this algorithm. is the minimization of the sum of the squared errors in each time period (deviations around the mean usage) of all resources over the duration of the project. This objective function continues the search for an improved schedule beyond that of previous algorithms with their associated objective functions. One important feature is that the algorithm tends to reduce the number of periods that a resource is idle during its duration on the project.

The metastable native state of proteins plays an important role in regulating biological functions. The native strain of serpins (serine protease inhibitors) are considered to be crucial for the inhibitory function. Several thermostable mutations of human $\alpha$$_1$-antitrypsin, a prototype inhibitory serpin, were identified in a systematic search targeted at the hydrophobic core of the molecule [Nature structural biology, vol. 3, no. 6, 497-500(1996)]. Human Genome Project has recently been completed and the information on nucleotide sequences of our whole genome is now available at the public or commercial data banks. Next goals are to identify the functions of each gene and to elucidate the intracellular signal transduction pathways regulating gene expression. We have established a PCR-based bioassay to search for biologically active compounds that can modulate the expression of genes encoding important proteins. (omitted)

In this paper we obtain a unique common fixed point theorem for four self-maps which are involved in (𝜙, 𝜓)-weak contraction of a partially ordered b-metric space. The necessary condition has been given to a space for the existence of an unique common fixed of the maps. And our work changed conditions and nonlinear contraction, and search for the unique common fixed point of the maps.

This study surveyed the elementary school teachers' use of visual representations and their perceptions of the functions of visual representations in the teaching of electricity unit. A total of 110 elementary teachers who have experiences in teaching electricity unit responded to online survey. The result showed firstly that most of the teachers use visual representations in their teaching and it is mostly limited to those presented in textbooks or images that they can get easily from internet search. Secondly, elementary teachers thought that they have high ability in using visual representations and low ability in understanding students' visual presentation ability. Thirdly, visual representations are more often preferred to be used as teacher-centered ways than student-centered ways for motivating students and conceptual understanding. However, in case of scientific inquiry, both teacher-centered and student-centered ways were equally preferred. Lastly, the teachers' perceptions of the functions of visual representations were categorized into 'teaching-instrumental function', 'learning-instrumental function', 'communicative-instrumental function' and 8 subcategories were found. The most frequent function was the 'information delivery function' in the 'teaching-instrumental function' category. Implications for teacher education and further studies were discussed.

In cognitive science, it is illustrated how the collective opinions of a group of individuals answers to questions involving quantity estimation. One example of this approach is introduced in this article as Star Graph (SG) algorithm. This graph describes the details of communication among individuals to share their information and make a new decision. A new labyrinthine network of neighbors is defined in the decision-making process of the algorithm. In order to prevent getting trapped in local optima, the neighboring networks are regenerated in each iteration of the algorithm. In this algorithm, the normal distribution is utilized for a group of agents with the best results (guidance group) to replace the existing infeasible solutions. Here, some new functions are introduced to provide a high convergence for the method. These functions not only increase the local and global search capabilities but also require less computational effort. Various benchmark functions and engineering problems are examined and the results are compared with those of some other algorithms to show the capability and performance of the presented method.
