Modeling and Sliding-mode Control of a Robot Manipulator actuated by the Ball Screw (볼나사를 이용한 매니퓰레이터의 모델링 및 슬라이딩모드 제어)

  • Conventional robots actuated by motors with the speed reducer such as harmonic drive had weakness in delivering loads, pressing, grinding, and cutting jobs. To overcome this, a new type of robot actuated by the ball screw was proposed. The ball screw is actuated by using four bar mechanism. The dynamics model of the robot was set up. The robot has parameter uncertainties and nonlinearlity due to the ball screw actuator. To coordinate the robot, the sliding-mode control was applied.

  • As the run out error and misalignment of ball screw connected directly to guide table largely affect the motion accuracy of guideway, floating coupling that releases the table from screw nut except feed and rotational direction is needed todecrease its influences. The purpose of this study is to propose a practical model floating coupling of ball serew for high precision feeding system. The straightness, dynanic characteristics and micro step response of hydrostatic guideway, mounted with three types of coupling fixed type, leaf spring type and hydrostatic type, are tested and compared. From the resuts of experiments, it is proved that a hydrostatic type floating coupling is superior to other couplings and is available to high precision feeding system with ball screw.

  • Thermal expension of the ball screw in semi-closed loop type CNC Lathe directly introduces positioning error along the travel axis. In this paper the thermal displacement of the ball screw is estimated by using macro variabie. The estimated dispacement of the ball screw are given to the NC in the form of pitch error compensation data into time interval. The thermal behaviour of the ball screw of the CNC Lasthe under the constant driving conditions was measured to examine the effectiveness of this compensation method. The results showed that thermal displacment of the ball screw were the positioning accuracy could be maintained to better then 6 .mu.m while using this compensation.

Optimum shape and process design of single rotor equipment for its mixing performance using finite volume method

  • We numerically analyzed flow characteristics of the polymer melt in the screw equipment using a proper modeling and investigated design parameters which have influence on the mixing performance as the capability of the screw equipment. We considered the non-Newtonian and non-isothermal flow in a single rotor equipment to investigate the mixing performance with respect to screw dimensions as shape parameter of the single rotor equipment and screw speed as process parameter. We used Bird-Carreau-Yasuda model as a viscous model of the polymer melt and the particle tracking method to investigate the mixing performance in the screw equipment and considered four mixing performance indexes: residence time distribution, deformation rate, total strain and particle standard deviation as a new mixing performance index. We compared these indexes to determine design parameters and object function. On basis of the analysis results, we carried out the optimal design by using the response surface method and design of experiments. In conclusion, the differences of results between the optimal value and numerical analysis are about 5.0%.

To overcome this, the developer a new type of robot actuated by the ball screw. The robot is an articulated shape, which is composed of four axes. The base axis is actuated similarly with conventional robot, but the others are actuated by four bars mechanism composed of the ball screw. We setup the dynamics model of the robot. The robot has parameter uncertainties and nonlinearlity due to the ball screw actuator. To coordinate the robot, we applied sliding-mode control.

  • In machining screws which are important members in mono pumps or progressive cavity pumps CNC turning center with 3 axes is usually used. This sort of screw machining requires large amount of CL data points and rotational tools are used in machining. When working out the CL data points consideration of possible tool interference is important in order to avoid undercut. This paper describes the checking methods of tool interference in the screw machining on the CNC turning center. First of all a specific shape of a screw cross-section that could commonly be applied to all screws was chosen and then possible tool interference associated with that shape was identified. Checking method was mathematically developed and verified. This checking method will be utilized in the CAM system developed by the authors for screw machining on the 3-axis CNC turning center.

Arthroscopy Assisted 2 Cannulated Screw Fixation for Transverse Glenoid Fracture: A Case Report

  • Arthroscopy is recognized as an important adjunct in treatment of intra-articular fractures. The author reports on successful treatment of a displaced transverse glenoid cavity fracture, reduced and fixed with arthroscopic assist, using two cannulated screws perpendicular to the fracture surface, in a patient with frail chest. One screw passed through the Neviaser portal, and the other screw passed through the base of the coracoid process. Arthroscopy assisted reduction and 2 cannulated screw fixation through the Neviaser portal and coracoid base appears to be a good method for treatment of transverse glenoid fractures.

Correlation between microleakage and screw loosening at implant-abutment connection

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between microleakage and screw loosening at different types of implant-abutment connections and/or geometries measuring the torque values before and after the leakage tests. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three different abutment types (Intenal hex titanium, internal hex zirconium, morse tapered titanium) with different geometries were connected to its own implant fixture. All the abutments were tightened with a standard torque value then the composition was connected to the modified fluid filtration system. After the measurements of leakage removal torque values were re-measured. Kruskal-wallis test was performed for non-parametric and one-way ANOVA was performed for parametric data. The correlation was evaluated using Spearman Correlation Test (${\alpha}=0.05$). RESULTS. Significantly higher microleakage was found at the connection of implant-internal hex zirconium abutment. Observed mean torque value loss was also significantly higher than other connection geometries. Spearman tests revealed a significant correlation between microleakage and screw loosening. CONCLUSION. Microleakage may provoke screw loosening. Removing torque values rationally decrease with the increase of microleakage.
