A Ti(CN) layer was formed on aluminum alloy by using diethylamino titanium, hydrogen and nitrogen with the pulsed DC PACVD process. Effect of process parameters such as precursor evaporation temperature, duty ratio, frequency, voltage, $H_2$/$N_2$gas ratio on the properties of Ti(CN) layer were investigated. The layer thus obtained had high hardness and low friction coefficient. Detailed results on the hardness, surface morphology, XRD, WDS analysis, wear test and scratch test of this layer are presented.

Friction and wear behavior of MoS$_{2}$ bonded films were evaluated at a Block-on-Ring typed tribo-tester, and their properties were compared with those of Falex tester in terms of the wear life of the films. Test results showed that friction and wear properties were significantly affected by the test methods of different contact configuration, and the wear life at a Block-on-Ring type tribo-tester was mostly governed by the resin binder. To obtain long wear life of the films, various combinations of solid-resin-content ratio and chemical resin modification were attempted and evaluated. Adhesion properties of resin binders were also measured and compared by using a scratch tester.

Combinatorial methods are being used increasingly to develop the next generation of polymers, coatings and adhesive formulations. Allied to this approach, a new genre of measurement and characterization methods are emerging. These characterization techniques are required to handle and take measurements from small samples. This has led to a number of uses for this technology which usefully fall between convention test specimen and micro- or nano-scale test methods. A versatile measurement platform will be presented which can offer useful indentation, puncture, compression, adhesion and scratch resistance data for a wide variety of material types and that continues to develop and evolve in capability.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the elderly physical fitness test for elderly people living in urban areas and to evaluate the physical fitness level according to gender and age groups. Methods: The subjects were 180 elderly people aged 65 and over living in urban areas. The elderly people were classified into early old age, middle old age, and advanced old age groups. Five items of the physical fitness test for the elderly (arm curl, chair stand, 2 min step test, back scratch, and chair sit and reach). Results: In analyzing the average of each item by gender and age, a significant difference was found in the results of each item as age increased in all sports, but no difference was observed according to gender except dumbbell lifting. Conclusion: Although the physical fitness level of all ages decreased from early age to late age, the difference in physical fitness according to gender was not significant except the arm curl test. The results of this study can be used as basic data for a new "age-specific exercise program" for the elderly.
Purpose: This study has been performed to identify the correlation between depression and physical fitness of the elderly women living in a rural area. Methods: The target people were chosen and visited on February, 2011. We could meet them at a community health center in Jeonnam. The questionnaire answered by 321 was conducted to figure out the degree of depression. Also, physical fitness using senior fitness test was measured. This study was analyzed using $x^2$ test, Fisher exact test, t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient by SAS program. Results: It was analyzed that distribution of depression was 31.9%, and depression was correlated with upper flexibility (p<.001). There was no significant relation to physical fitness by depression except weight (p=.039) and back scratch (p=.007) as well. Conclusion: These results can not only contribute to understanding of the depression of the elderly women, but also suggest that depression prevention program is necessary for them.
Friction and wear affect all processes involved in the extraction of materials and their conversion into finished products in the die applications such as drawing, extrusion etc. Originating phenomenon from the contact surface between the tool and workpiece, they are usually a hindrance to materials process operations which usually result in damaging the tools, increasing energy consumption, the contamination of processed material by wear particles and also some problems associated with technologies to control friction and wear. The most well established method to control friction and wear is by the application of lubricant such as fluorocarbon. Besides, a surface technique so-called surface modification can be applied to solve the tribology problems of the die applications for both the economical and ecological reasons. In this article, we applied DLC(diamond-like carbon) thin film on alumina ceramic for HT test using the PIID(plasma ion immersion deposition), 4 groups of test specimens were tested up to $200^{\circ}C$ which is a little higher than the normal working temperature of die application. Pin-on-disc tribo-tester was used to test the friction and surfaces were characterized by SEM and EDS and else, the morphology changes of DLC coatings were studied. The present work indicated that the DLC had a great potential to reduce the friction and wear in the alumina die application without lubricants.

This paper presents the effects of cryogenic temperature on the wear behavior of 22MnB5 blank under cold stamping. After immersing the blank in liquid nitrogen (LN2) for 10 min, a strip drawing test was performed within 10 s. The hardness was measured using the Rockwell hardness test, which increased from 165 HV at 20℃ to 192 HV at cryogenic temperature. The strip drawing test with 22MnB5 blank and SKD61 tool steel shows that for the different wear mechanisms on the tool surface with respect to temperature; adhesive wear is dominant at 20℃, but abrasive wear is the main mechanism at cryogenic temperature. As the friction test is repeated, sticking gradually increases on the tool surface at 20℃, whereas the scratch increases at cryogenic temperature. For the friction behavior, the friction coefficient rapidly increases when adhesive wear occurs, and it occurs more frequently at 20℃. The results for nanoindentation near the worn blank surface indicate a difference of 1.3 GPa at 20℃ and 0.8 GPa at cryogenic temperature compared to the existing hardness, indicating increased deformation by friction at 20℃. This occurs because thermally activated energy available to move the dislocation decreases with decreasing temperature.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the cell viability and migration of Endosequence Bioceramic Root Canal Sealer (BC Sealer) compared to MTA Fillapex and AH Plus. Materials and Methods: BC Sealer, MTA Fillapex, and AH Plus were placed in contact with culture medium to obtain sealers extracts in dilution 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4. 3T3 cells were plated and exposed to the extracts. Cell viability and migration were assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazoyl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and Scratch assay, respectively. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's test (p < 0.05). Results: The MTT assay revealed greater cytotoxicity for AH Plus and MTA Fillapex at 1:1 dilution when compared to control (p < 0.05). At 1:2 and 1:4 dilutions, all sealers were similar to control (p > 0.05) and MTA Fillapex was more cytotoxic than BC Sealer (p < 0.05). Scratch assay demonstrated the continuous closure of the wound according to time. At 30 hours, the control group presented closure of the wound (p < 0.05). At 36 hours, only BC Sealer presented the closure when compared to AH Plus and MTA Fillapex (p < 0.05). At 42 hours, AH Plus and MTA Fillapex showed a wound healing (p > 0.05). Conclusions: All tested sealers demonstrated cell viability highlighting BC Sealer, which showed increased cell migration capacity suggesting that this sealer may achieve better tissue repair when compared to other tested sealers.
Effects of PbO on the repassivation kinetics and characteristics of passive film of Alloy 690 were examined to elucidate the influences of PbO on the SCC resistance of that alloy. The repassivation kinetics of the alloy was analyzed in terms of the current density flowing from the scratch, i(t), as a function of the charge density that has flowed from the scratch, q(t). Repassivation on the scratched surface of the alloy occurred in two kinetically different processes; passive film initially nucleated and grew according to the place exchange model in which log i(t) is linearly proportional to q(t), and then grew according to the high field ion conduction model in which log i(t) is linearly proportional to 1/q(t) with a slope of cBV. The cBV is found to be a parameter representing repassivation rate and hence SCC susceptibility of the alloy. The lower the value of cBV, the faster the repassivation rate and the higher the SCC resistance of an alloy. Addition of PbO to pH 4 and 10 solutions increased the value of cBV of alloy 690, reflecting slower repassivation rate than without PbO. The change in the value of cBV was grater in pH 10 than in pH 4. The increase in SCC susceptibility of alloy 690 with the addition of PbO to solution was presumably due to the Cr-depletion in the outer parts of passive film of the alloy with an incorporation of Pb compounds in the film, which was revealed by Mott-Schottky, AES and XPS analyses.
Half-P.C. slab system is the composite structural system which utilizes precast concrete for lower portion and cast in situ concrete for upper portion slab. When the composite slab using Half P.C. slab is deformed by flexural moment, horizontal shear happened at the interface between Half P.C. slab and topping concrete. To resist horizontal shear strength a scratch method has tried. To determine ultimate interface shear strength, shear stress, and shear coefficient, high and normal strength concrete are used for topping concrete. Major variables are compressive strength of topping concrete with or without shear reinforcement, quantitative roughness of the P.C. :surface and tie or untie of the stud with welded deformed wire fabric in the P.C. member. The Icross sectional area on joints is 3,200 $cm^2$ in all specimens. Test results showed that shear stress increased, as the depth of the quantitative roughness increased. The horizontal shear strength could be resisted with safe by the quantitative roughness without shear tie. A shear coefficient determinant equation is proposed such that K = 0.025918 + 0.0068894$\cdot$R – 0.000182354${\cdot}R^2$
