The purposes of this study were 1) to identify patterns and trends of studies of anxiety and stress and 2) to provide direction on which to base further research. Research studies of anxiety and stress were selected from journals of medical and nursing schools, the Korean Nurse, the Korean Nurses' Academic Society Journal, the Central Journal of Medicine, the New Medical Journal, Monthly Nurse, and from theses and dissertations, which had been conducted for the 20 years from 1970 to 1990. The total population of the studies numbered 463. Seven studies were excluded from the analysis because of duplication, so that 252 studies of anxiety and 204 of stress were analyzed. These studies were analyzed for 1) time of publication or presentation, 2) research design, 3) characteristics of subjects used in each study, 4) types of correlated variables, and 5) types of nursing interventions. Findings obtained in the study were as follows : 1. The number of studies related to anxiety and stress has increased rapidly since the early 1980's. 2. The studies were primarily descriptive throughout the 20 years. However, correlational studies, comparative studies and experimental studies slowly increased. 3. Anxiety studies tend to be conducted more on patients and stress studies with normal subjects in non - experimental research. However, experimental studies were conducted more with patients than with normal subjects. 4. In correlational studies, the trend was to study physical conditions in relation to anxiety, and coping and adaptation in relation to stress. 5. In experimental studies, teaching and information therapy and relaxation were the most popular interventions for anxiety, and supportive care for stress. On the bases of these findings, the following recommendations were made : 1. These patterns of studies related to anxiety and stress in Korea need to be compared with studies conducted in other countries. 2. More attention is needed in terms of research design, reliability and validity of tools, and results of statistical analysis. 3. Meta -analysis should be done to analyze and integrate the results of various studies. 4. For theory testing and identification of useful intervention methods, experimintal studies with the same protocols must be conducted rather than more descriptive studies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the temperament of the science gifted and to identify a relationship between temperament and test-anxiety of the students. The participants were composed of 92 middle school the science gifted who had been educated for the gifted in science educational institution of university and 97 general students in their first-year of middle school. A revised dimensions of temperament survey (DOTS-R) was used for data collection. This study revealed that the science gifted displayed higher concentricity, persistence, and approach-temperament than those of general students. On the other hand, general students were higher than the science gifted at activity, flexibility and positive mood. In the analysis of superior temperament, the science gifted were superior to general students in persistence, while general students were superior to the science gifted in flexibility. The Results of correlation with temperament and test-anxiety was as following. There was close correlation between approach-temperament and test-anxiety of the science gifted. Persistence was the same. While general students were not close correlation between concentricity and test-anxiety. Also science gifted and general students was close correlation between activity and test-anxiety. This mean that activity brings about a disturbing factor of test-anxiety. According to the results of superior temperament frequency analysis, persistence is superior temperament of the science gifted. While flexibility was superior temperament of general students. This study expects to making the use of providing appropriate teaching and learning strategies for the science gifted.

Backgrounds: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the university students population is one of the high risk and vulnerable groups. This study analyzed the status of student's mental health, including anxiety and depression caused by COVID-19, and its related factors among a university students in Korea. Methods : Our study subjects included university students in Korea. The survey items included general characteristics, teaching methods, physical activity, eating habits (SDBQ-L), weight-related questions, general anxiety disorder-7(GAD-7), and depression symptoms checklist. Frequency analysis, chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were performed and data was analyzed using R version 4.1.2 program. Results : The prevalence of anxiety complaints was 5.5%, while the prevalence of depression complaints was 30.8%. In the multivariable logistic regression analysis of factors influencing anxiety, anxiety occurred 19.081 times (95% confidence interval (CI): 2.352-154.807) in the group with unhealthy diet (p<0.01). While in the multivariable analysis to identify factors affecting depression, women were 2.607 times significantly higher (95% CI: 1.255-5.415) than men, 0.407 times (95% CI:0.197-0.840) for residents of the metropolitan area, 3.418 times higher (95% CI:1.633-7.198) for unhealthy dietary people, and 2.225 times higher (95% CI: 1.080-4.582) for weight gainers (p<0.05). The type of class had no effect. Conclusions: COVID-19 and its associated interventions had negative effects on the mental health status including anxiety and depression in university students in Korea. Based on our results we recommend developing mental health interventions and prevention strategies for students in all universities in Korea.

Students' emotional attitude not only affects their achievement in a meaningful way but also is an important educational goal in its own right. This research investigated how students' interest in science varies among elementary, middle and high-school students based on a survey and reviews of previous research results. We analyzed students learning attitude in terms of interest in and enjoyment of science, instrumental motivation in science, science learning anxiety, and self-concept in science. Major findings are students showed more negative attitudes in intrinsic motivation, instrumental motivation, value perception of science, and confidence in science as they move in to a higher school level. According to students' explanation, science classes got bored in a higher grade because of difficult contents, lack of experiments and activities, and teachers' monotonous explanations. Based on the results, recommendations on how to improve students' attitudes towards science are suggested. First of all we need to secure more science instructional hours in the school curriculum than the 7th national curriculum to implement improved science teaching and learning methods.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop a nursing simulation learning module for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient-care and examine its effects on clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, performance confidence, and anxiety in COVID-19 patient care for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pre- and post-test design was employed. The study participants included 47 nursing students (23 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group) from G City. A simulation learning module for COVID-19 patient-care was developed based on the Jeffries simulation model. The module consisted of a briefing, simulation practice, and debriefing. The effects of the simulation module were measured using clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, performance confidence, and anxiety in COVID-19 patient-care. Data were analyzed using χ2-test, Fisher's exact test, t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The levels of clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, and performance confidence of the experimental group were significantly higher than that of the control group, and the level of anxiety was significantly low after simulation learning. Conclusion: The nursing simulation learning module for COVID-19 patient-care is more effective than the traditional method in terms of improving students' clinical reasoning competence, clinical competence, and performance confidence, and reducing their anxiety. The module is expected to be useful for educational and clinical environments as an effective teaching and learning strategy to empower nursing competency and contribute to nursing education and clinical changes.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the computer-naive children's preconceptions of computer concept, anxieties for computer, the changes in preconceptions and anxieties by computer literacy teaching, and the effect of CASI(Computer Assisted Science Instruction) on the science achievement. For this study, 42 5th graders were sampled. They were divided into two groups, experimental group(male:10, female:11) and control group(male:12, female:9). Each group was randomly assigned in the elementary school. Preconceptions about computer were examined by individual interview. Computer anxiety score was measured by questionaires. The questionaires developed in this study consisted of total 21 items measured by Chronbach ${\alpha}$ (0.93) and Total Item Correlationtp(p=0.01, r = $0.40{\sim}0.72$). Computer literacy curriculum based on children's preconceptions was developed and then was treated for experimental group as a computer literacy course. Preconceptions of computer, computer anxiety, and CASI achievements were compared between experimental group and control group in pre and post test. The results of this study are as follows; 1) children's preconceptions of computer showed various non-scientific concepts as animism and obvious visiual thinking. 2) children's misconceptions and anxieties about computer did not show significant differences in terms of learning experience of computer. 3) computer literacy had an effect on eliminating children's misconception about computer. 4) computer literacy had an effect on diminishing children's computer anxiety. 5) children's misconceptions and anxieties about computer showed significant inter-correlation. 6) children's misconceptions and anxieties about computer were appeared negative effect on CASI achievements. As the results, children's misconception and anxieties about computer had an effect on CASI acheivements. Therefore before performing CASI, more systematic computer literacy might be taught in formal education.
The goal of this study is to examine the relationship between efficacy belief and role performance of childcare teachers, and also to utilize the results as the basic data for teacher education. The subjects were 205 teachers at 48 childcare centers located in Jeonlabuk-do area. The instruments employed included efficacy belief, teachers' role performance, experiences, and age. The data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson correlation, and Regression Analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, the role of child carer was the vest performance through childcare teachers' role. Second, the role of instructor, counselor, researcher, and others was significantly different among the types of childcare institution. Third, the social position of ability and personal teaching efficacy belief were correlated positively with teachers' experience. The activeness, the social position of ability, general teaching efficacy belief, personal teaching efficacy belief, and the role of child carer, instructor, counselor, researcher, and others were correlated positively with teachers' age. Fourth, the role of child carer, instructor, counselor, researcher, and others was correlated positively with the activeness and the social position of ability, whereas it was correlated negatively with failure anxiety. Lastly, the activeness was the most powerful variable influencing teachers' role performance.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of psychological learning environment generated by science teachers upon students' affective perceptions and cognitive learning. The subjects of the study were consist of 2.693 students from secondary school. The students' perception were examined by the tools of PLEIS(Psychological Learning Environment Instrument by Science teacher). SAMS(Science Anxiety Measurement Scale). HARS(High schools' s Attitude Related Science). and ALWSS(Attitude toward Laboratory Work Scale in Secondary school). and cognitive learning outcomes assessed to TIPS II (Test of Integrated Process Skills II ) and science test score. The results of this study suggest that positive psychological learning environment by science teacher should be offered to students for the improvement of science achievement. and learning environment will be used as an instrument of self assessment for improving science teaching strategy. Understanding of relationship among psychological learning environment, affective perception and cognitive learning will be helpful to the design of science teaching and learning process.

In this study, twenty-eight 7th graders were interviewed to explore their emotional responses and perceived teaching-learning strategies for effective conceptual change by the types of cognitive responses to a discrepant event. The results revealed that cognitive conflict was more induced by a discrepant event when its reliability and validity were emphasized. The students' cognitive responses to a discrepant event, the existence of alternative hypotheses, and their clearness influenced the patterns of emotional responses such as interest and anxiety. Many students perceived that emotional responses would have positive influences on concept learning processes. In the cases of the students exhibiting cognitive responses such as belief decrease, peripheral belief change, and belief change, opinions about teaching-learning strategies for effective conceptual change were different depending on whether they had alternative hypotheses or not. Educational implications are discussed.

An increasing number of educators emphasize the affective domain in learning. Affective and cognitive objectives interact and can not be separated from each other. Good emotions and feelings assist students achieving optimally in the cognitive domain. Emotional intelligence harmonizes well with an affective science curriculum. The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of EQ(Emotional quotient) improvement program on students' EQ, science achievement, the science related attitudes, and science anxiety. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. Subjects were 168 male and female first grade students in a middle school. A control group was instructed with a traditional teaching method, and an experimental group was instructed using EQ improvement program. Two groups were treated for 42 hours during 14 weeks. Two way ANCOVA and correlation analysis was performed using the SPSS. The results indicated that students who received EQ program got higher EQ and their science anxiety was lowered than students who were in a control group(p<.05). EQ program was not significantly effective on science attitude than the traditional instruction but, in the domain 'the enjoyment of science class' it was effective(p<.05). EQ program was significantly effective on students' achievement than the traditional instruction(p<.05).
