초등수학에서의 곱셈구구 지도 순서에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Sequence of Teaching Multiplication Facts in the Elementary School Mathematics)

  • The purpose of ths study is to compare and analyze the sequence of teaching multiplication facts in the elementary school mathematics. Generally, the multiplication in the elementary school mathematics is composed of the followings; concepts of multiplication, situations involving multiplication, didactical models for multiplication, and multiplication strategies for teaching multiplication facts. This study is focusing to multiplication facts, especially to the sequence of teaching and multiplication strategies. The method of this study is a comparative and analytic method. In order to compare textbooks, we select the Korean elementary mathematics textbooks(1st curriculum~2009 revised curriculum) and the 9 foreign elementary mathematics textbooks(Japan, China, Germany, Finland, Hongkong etc.). As results of comparative investigation, the sequence of teaching multiplication facts is reconsidered on a basis of elementary students' mathematical thinking. And the connectivity of multiplication facts is strengthened in comparison with the foreign elementary mathematics textbooks. Finally multiplication strategies for teaching multiplication facts are discussed for more understanding and reasoning the principles of multiplication facts in the elementary school mathematics.

  • 본 연구는 대학수학능력시험 수리(수학) 영역의 개념 및 성격을 살펴보고, 수리(수학) 영역의 20년 변천 과정을 도입기(1994~1996학년도), 조정기(1997~2004학년도), 발전기(2005~2011학년도), 전환기(2012학년도 이후)로 구분하여 시기별 변천 과정을 고찰한 후, 향후 수학 영역의 과제를 제시하였다.

학교 수학에서의 '증명' (Proof' in school mathematics)

  • The purpose of this study is to conceptualize 'proof' school mathematics. We based on the assumption the following. (a) There are several different roles of 'proof' : verification, explanation, systematization, discovery, communication (b) Accepted criteria for the validity and rigor of a mathematical 'proof' is decided by negotiation of school mathematics community. (c) There are dynamic relations between mathematical proof and empirical theory. We need to rethink the nature of mathematical proof and give appropriate consideration to the different types of proof related to the cognitive development of the notion of proof. 'proof' in school mathematics should be conceptualized in the broader, psychological sense of justification rather than in the narrow sense of deductive, formal proof 'proof' has not been taught in elementary mathematics, traditionally, Most students have had little exposure to the ideas of proof before the geometry. However, 'proof' cannot simply be taught in a single unit. Rather, proof must be a consistent part of students' mathematical experience in all grades, in all mathematics.

Perceptions of Change and Reform Efforts by Secondary School Mathematics Teachers in the People's Republic of China and the United States

  • The present study extends previous research in this area by investigating perceptions of change and reactions to reform efforts by pre-service and practicing secondary school mathematics teachers in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the United States of America. Interviews were used to gather data about school experiences, teaching practices, and planned changes in mathematics programs. Analysis of the interview data supported earlier findings with respect to the well-planned nature of lessons by PRC teachers and the influence of mathematics contents and examination systems in the PRC. Findings also indicated a general agreement among teachers from both countries favoring less lecturing and more discussion and interactive activities. There were contrasts by nationality in descriptions of future teaching, ideal lessons, sources of teaching ideas, and preferences about school mathematics programs.

수학적 사고.태도에 중점을 둔 학교수학수업의 구성 사례 (The Teaching of School Mathematics Focusing on the Mathematical Thinking and Attitude)

  • In this study, we tried to suggest a meaningful teaching method that is a mathematical thinking-oriented. After referring to the recent trend of mathematics education, we examined the direction that school mathematics should go. Next, we considered previous studies that deals with teaching methods focusing on the mathematical thinking. On the basis of the above examination, we accomplished case studies that aims at mathematical thinking-oriented teaching. And we explained that these case studies reflects the key points didactics of mathematics such as the education of ‘open mathematics’, constructivism etc. Finally, we proposed the necessity of mathematical thinking-oriented teaching in the current state of school mathematics.

대학 기초수학 교육 내용의 구성 방안에 관한 연구 - 생명.나노 관련 분야를 중심으로 - (Study of Structural Scheme of Basic Mathematics Education in University - Focusing on life and nano-related areas -)

  • 생명 나노 관련 분야의 대학 기초수학 교육 내용의 구성과 그 방안을 찾기 위하여, 그 분야의 대학생들이 기본함수(2차 함수, 유리함수, 무리함수, 로그함수, 삼각함수)에 대한 그래프 표현과 그래프에 내포한 기본정보에 대하여 어느 정도 알고 있는지, 고등학교 기초 수학 내용을 어느 정도 알고 있는지에 대하여 조사하였다. 그리고 그 분야와 관련된 전공 서적에서 사용되고 있는 수학 내용을 조사하였다. 조사 결과, 기본함수에 대한 그래프 표현과 그래프에 내포한 정보에 대한 이해 및 고등학교 기초 수학 내용에 대한 이해가 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 생명 나노 관련 분야의 각 전공에 사용되고 있는 수학 내용의 양과 내용의 깊이에 차이가 있었다. 이러한 조사 결과에 따르면, 생명 나노 관련 분야의 대학 기초수학 교육 내용 구성에서, 각 전공 분야의 대학생들의 고등학교 기초수학 내용에 대한 이해 정도를 반영하고 각 전공에 따라 수학 내용의 양적인 면과 내용의 깊이를 다양하게 고려하여야 할 것이다.

중학교 수학 교육과정 및 교과서 내용의 양과 난이도 수준 분석 (Analysis of the Quantity and Quality of the Contents of Junior High School Mathematics Curriculum and Textbooks)

  • There seems to be a public consensus that the content of Korean mathematics textbooks is extensive and of a high level of difficulty. However, such judgment is the result of a generalization based on individual experience or on the results from comparisons of the international levels of achievement. Therefore, a more objective and stricter approach to the determination of the quantity and level of difficulty of mathematics content is necessary. For this purpose, this study has compared the content of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school curriculums, and the Korean mathematics curriculum to textbooks of the United States, which has a considerable influence on the making of Korean mathematics textbooks. First of all, a comparison of Koreas 6th and 7th junior high school mathematics curriculums showed a slight reduction in the total quantity of content, as more content was deleted than was added in the 7th curriculum. However, given the fact that the number of hours of mathematics classes has been reduced, the reduction in content cannot be regarded as anything more than a simple reflection of the reduction in hours, proving that the 7th curriculum has not met its revision objective of reducing the content by 30%. Meanwhile, the comparison of the United States junior high school mathematics textbooks to Korea's 7th curriculum showed that the 7th grade content in the United States was much broader, encompassing content which in Korea ranged from the 2nd grade of elementary school to the 2nd year of junior high school. Therefore, on the surface, it may appear that the overall level of content in the American mathematics textbook is lower than that of the Korean. However, there are several cafes, such as statistics and probability, where certain content was more difficult and introduced at an earlier grade in the United States than in Korea. In fact, it can be said that Korea students tend to find content of the mathematics textbooks to be harder than they actually are because they are delivered as a mere aggregate of algorithms, with little consideration to its application in their everyday lives. In this respect, there is much room for improvement on the mathematics textbooks of Korea.

초등학교 입문기 학생들의 수학 학습 능력 실태 조사 (Study on the examination of the first graders' mathematics learning abilities in elementary school)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the first graders' mathematics learning abilities in elementary school. To do this, I examined the first graders on their mathematics learning abilities, and analyzed the test results. Although all of the evaluation factors are composed the mathematical contents which are taught in elementary school, the correct answer rate of them were very high. The results of this study will be used as the basis. for developing the mathematics curriculum and textbook in elementary school. Also first grade teachers can use the results of this study as a basis when they plan a instruction for the first graders.

  • 본 연구에서는 고등학생의 수학에 대한 정의적 태도에 영향 미치는 요인을 학교 수학 수업, 학교 수학 평가, 수학 교과서, 수학 사교육, 진학과 진로, 사회 분위기의 측면에서 다각도로 살펴보았다. 학년과 전공, 학업성취도, 성별, 학교 소재지에 따른 고등학생 1,029명을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였으며, 그 결과에 대해 SPSS ver 29.0을 이용한 기술통계량, t 검정과 ANOVA, 카이제곱 검정을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 학생 전체적으로 진학과 진로 및 학교 수학 수업이 수학에 대한 정의적 태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학생의 학업성취도와 성별에 따라 정의적 태도에 영향 미치는 요인에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 학생 변수에 따라 수학에 대한 정의적 태도에 영향 미치는 각 요인의 세부항목에 대한 학생 반응에 차이가 있었다. 본 연구는 고등학생의 수학에 대한 정의적 태도 개선을 위해 수학 수업 방식의 다양화, 수학 교과서 개선, 수학 사교육에의 올바른 참여, 진학과 진로에서 수학의 활용성 및 사회에서 수학의 중요성에 대한 학생의 인식 개선, 부모의 정서적 지지가 필요함을 제안한다.
