In recent years, BIM has been applied to many building projects. However, IFC, which is the core technology of data exchange in BIM, has not been used widely. In particular, IFC has almost never been used to represent rebars in RC structures. This is because the lack of understanding and utilization strategy for data model of IFC on rebars. The purpose of this study is to store and manage the data on rebars using IFC at the schematic design stage. For this, we investigated the data to represent rebars for RC members, such as beam, column, wall, and slab at the schematic design stage. And, we analyzed the data model of IFC on rebars at the schematic design stage. Based on these investigation and analysis on data, we proposed the strategy for utilization of the data model of IFC on rebars. Finally, for verification, we generated a sample IFC file to represent the rebars of a simple RC structure according to the proposed strategy and imported the sample IFC file into the software, which we developed for this study. Based on the results of the import, we concluded that the data on rebars can be stored and managed using the proposed strategy for utilization of the data model of IFC on rebars.

The purpose of this research is to compare the stiffness increment effects with the floor plan shapes by the stiffness increment factors. For this, we generated the standard floor plans with Box and T type shapes. Then applied the stiffness increment factors -outrigger, material strength, member section- to those floor plans, and generated several alternative analysis models that make the effects of the factors to the lateral displacement exposed. Finally, we analyzed the stiffness increment effects and compared with each other by the stiffness increment factors. As a result, we found that the increment effects have not influence to floor plan shapes, and orders of stiffness increment effects are outrigger, core wall and material strength. We expect that the results of this study could be effectively utilized in the schematic structural design of tall buildings.

This project located in IFEZ(Incheon Free Economic Zone) is the first central heating and cooling type for high-rise residential building in korea. The design was performed as the joint venture between Cosentini from U.S.A and wooowon, and our design concept was to save energy. LEED application from USGBC is going on in progress for the first residential building in korea. Careful attention was paid from schematic design for not a durability of structural and architectural, but also durability and safety of M.E.P.

Great impetus has come from the renewed emphasis on improving public transport in many countries. In Korea, built over 12 years at a cost of ${\$}12$ billion and modeled on the TGV of France, the Korea Train Express will open for regular traffic on April, 2004. The schematic design of terminal building for Kwang-Myeong station was chosen by the international competition in 1997. Mooyoung Architects and Engineers joined with AREP, French Architect awarded.

The objective of this paper is to introduce a project on developing construction method based estimation system. It means a 3D product model based estimation system to effectively and efficiently manage estimation process during the project life-cycle. This paper describes a outline and method for 3D based estimation system. Normally, it is not easy to take-off the quantity from 3D CAD model, because of all different depths of the quantity take off in each design development stage and nation. This study shows how to keep the balance of its depths in each design development stage such as schematic design, detail design, shop drawing, and so forth.

In construction project, it is important to exchange and share the digital information generated by their own professional softwares. So this paper analyzed the information delivery requirements of steel structure according the structural design stages using IDM methodology. For schematic design stage and detailed design stage, the structural design information to share in each design stages is abstracted by defining the PM, ER, and FP. The new ERs and FPs are proposed by defining the new property sets(Psets), suchlike bolt gauge line, weld, scallop, and cope, to complement the structural design information of $IFC2{\times}3$. Finally, the reasonability of the proposed new ERs, FPs are verified by applying them to represent the standard steel connection sample in detailed design stage. As a result, the structural design information of standard steel connection could be stored and managed sufficiently by using the proposed new ERs and FPs.

In this study, a design-supporting system, which is intended to assist engineers in the schematic phase of the structural design, is developed using a case database that contains design information of tall buildings in Korea. A case-based reasoning method utilizing the case database is proposed. The inductive retrieval module for selecting structural system, in the initial stage, from the design information of case database for 47 tall buildings is presented. Also, the nearest-neighbor retrieval method for selecting similar design cases is introduced.

High-rise buildings need thorough cost management because of large size and high risk. Cost management makes a budget by establishing and analyzing detail element at planning phase, needs cost control as each design phase, then reflected to next design. This research develops a schematic estimation model based on vertical and horizontal elements at design phase for structure cost of high-rise buildings to reduce error range and use data as design management. Usability of the model is confirmed by case study. The estimation model is expected to contribute to making the cost model more effective and satisfactory to concerned in construction or budget department and manage keeping track of the cost.

This study purposed to investigate the optimal outrigger location in tall building with cap truss after a structural schematic design of 80 stories building was performed by using MIDAS-Gen. In this paper, the main parameters of structural analysis were the outrigger location and stiffness of main structural elements (outrigger, exterior column, shear wall etc). In order to search the optimal outrigger position in high-rise building with cap truss, we analysed and examined the lateral displacement of top floor which is one of the very important considering factors of tall building structural design. The paper results indicated that the outrigger location and the stiffness of main structural elements such as outrigger, exterior column and shear wall had an effect on the optimal outrigger location. And it is verified that the study results provided the basic engineering data for fixing the most optimal outrigger location for minimizing the lateral displacement of tall building.
